Ginger Bread Construction - Really
Well, the time and energy it takes teaching has not left me with time to really launch into my doll house project. While I was hoping for a snow day today so I would have time to work on my fairy house project, the actual case was that while schools were closed all around me were closed, my school was open. I am not whining, we had a good time and my class got to begin to put their gingerbread architecture together this afternoon. They designed their structures and made their patterns on Tuesday, then made the dough, cut out the pieces, and baked them yesterday. Today we made the royal icing and began putting their structures together.
This is Domo's Farm
The windows are broken and melted butterscotch candies. They came out really well.

A Barn
Haggid's Hut
This is how far we were able to get with the construction. If we have school tomorrow, we can put on the roofs and do some of the decorating. Otherwise, they'll have to wait until next week.
I plan to do some priming on my doll house/ fairy house tonight and maybe experiment with some different siding techniques using the birdhouse I bought for that purpose. I would hate to ruin my fairy house by bolluxing up the exterior. Plus, I would like a little experience with the stucco before stuccoing the pieces that will later become ceilings and walls.
Hopefully next blog will contain photographic evidence of progress!
