Windows, or why it takes me so long to finish a build!
After cutting down the dormer a bit, finalizing the window placement, and cutting out the windows and doors:
Trying to figure out where the upstairs divider should be:
I think it will be this one, because it makes sense for me for the (smaller) powder room to be over the kitchen.
I seem to take a long time with windows in general. I don't know what it is, but I find myself fussing over window trim and detail more, it seems, than any other feature. These windows are no exception; it has taken alot of work to get this far! Since all the window holes are custom sizes, they require custom windows. I turned to my favorite tutorial queen at http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.com/2014/07/making-1-inch-scale-window-from-mat.html to make windows (and doors, too) from matboard.
Also, I have gotten a self-healing cutting mat, which is making a world of difference; should've done it years ago!
You can also see to where I have added some height to the house.
My order from Ernie's April Fools 40%-off sale, the Chrysnbon bathroom kit and the "jadeite" chicken and rooster set:
And now finally I have finished assembling all the window jambs and sashes; they're ready to paint and glue together. I'll add hardware too (though they're non-opening)-- handles and window locks. They're not glued into the walls yet, just dry-fit; after the wallpaper is installed, I'll install the window units.
It was difficult to keep everything square, particularly the sashes. I used a very stiff transparent plastic sheet that had been a cover for a card box, I think.
The door frames are ready for the doors, but I think I'll work on the porch lattice now, since its construction drives the rest of the porch.
