a little more foxhall progress. first attempt at parquet

i bought 4 different styles of parquet flooring kits for this house well over a year ago thru Dejoux miniatures. I FINALLY stained the kits a couple of weeks ago. I decided to use this particular parquet (two different styles of kit) in this particular room instead of the office. I didn't think about the fact that the office is half the size....So of course I ran out of floor tiles to finish the room....so I have to wait until January to buy more. Anyway, I started installing this flooring yeste

Sorry for the bad photos, it looks prettier in person. Not sure how i'm going to do my staircase yet, but this one was handy for photos...i have a few ideas on how to do staircases in this house. Project for today is to stain wood flooring so that I can install it next week!

This room is getting closer to completion! I need to fix a couple of small tiles by the fireplace, cut, paint and install all of the mouldings and ceiling moldings and install the lighting and this room will be complete! i love how the floor turned out! I finished it a few days ago and permanently glued in the fireplace surround!

tile floor progress on the foxhall

I have been working on the tiles floors on and off the past few weeks...the tile floor in the main hallway/foyer is obviously not finished but you get the idea...the flooring in the music room just needs the outter edge finished, hopefully i will make time this weekend to finish that off....i did the majority of it this past sunday. The flooring in the morning room (pink and grey tile) is completely finished. i just need to do molding and baseboards in this room and permanently glue in a firepla

last two rooms of the foxhall photos

including photos of the little girls room, still a work in progress on the bed frame. i saw a brooke tucker bed surround in a magazine that was a dollhouse (1/144th scale) room boxes with a roof. i loved the idea and had to do it in this house. the roof is definately in need of work but it's something i threw together.... the other room is the morning room. of course it will have lots of molding and a tile floor! I also have more lovely wicker for this room, made by our very own Te

these photos are of the two story foyer...which will have alot of trim and a gorgeous tile floor. i've also included the middle 3rd story room as well as the pool table room. I pretty much copied the idea from Julia Wallace's Foxhall as I absolutely loved her idea. i believe i used different color tiles, so it's a bit different but not much. I *HAD* to have a room like hers lol..... as with the other peel and stick tiles in the conservatory, i'm waiting until it's further along in

Two of the rooms are bedrooms in the front of the house, one is above the dining room (the blue wallpaper), the striped flower paper is probably going to be the master bedroom. the other room will be the dining room lots of molding and wood flooring

Back into mini's!

Started working on the Foxhall again yesterday afternoon! Didn't make as much progress as I intended to but it's a start! I finished choosing and cutting the ceiling papers, got most of that glued in but ran out of glue! I'll finish that project up next weekend. I also started laying tile for the fireplaces in the house...got about halfway done, still have 3 more rooms to go. I can then start working on laying flooring now that I've decided what to do with the fireplaces. I decided to keep it si

queen anne progress

well, i have most of the shell completed, just need to do the two alcoves on the right side of the house, the tower roof and reglue a couple of roof components. i ran out of glue and interest. lol. i messed up big time after making alot of progress today and had to redo a good portion of the house....i had placed the second floor on the 3rd floor and the 3rd floor on the second floor. it wasn't looking right and although it looked like of good that way, it messed everything up so I had to fix it

Queen Anne

Started building this house today. It's enormous! I am waiting for the glue to dry a bit. just put up the second story walls! i am taking photos as i go and will post them later. i still need to square out windows, which is my least favorite thing to do, but was too impatient to get started building. i'll do them all after i get the house built. i think i'll have the shell completely built today if i keep up this pace!

wallpaper

I finally decided on a wallpaper choice for the living room. i can't decide if it looks christmasy or not. i don't want to change it because it does look pretty. I finally chose the wallpaper for the bathroom as well. i'm re-wallpapering that room because although the paper is pretty, it's just not what i have in mind. i did find a nice floral and although the print is bigger than i would like, it's a beautiful print. Unfortunately i ran out of wallpaper paste. i'll have to wait until payday to

foxhall is really coming along

I hung more wallpaper today. I have all the wallpaper completed now except the front living room. can't decide or commit to a choice at this point for that room. i'm sure it will come to me. the house is turning out so cool. i hate to post photos and spoil the surprise of it. maybe after i get all the flooring installed. i'm such a knucklehead...today i hung one wall of paper upside down. not going to change it. i was sooo careful in all of the other rooms except this one. it was the last room t

foxhall progress! we have light!

I spent a good portion of the day just floating around the house trying to decide what if anything i wanted to do on the foxhall today. i managed to glue on the ceiling paper in the rooms that will have that type. then i decided to wire in my carriage lights for the outdoors to see if i could do it! they work! all of them!!!!! i'm pretty excited. i want to make sure they are really secure before i wallpaper over them. not sure if i should solder them or what. i read somewhere that someone used c

foxhall

Finally took some time to work on the foxhall today. I painted the panels that open in the front and the 2 story additions. I only painted 2 coats, i took a lunch break then a nap and didn't feel like doing anymore painting today. So i'll give the items another coat or 2 of paint after i get off of work on thursday. the 2 conservatories will need some work before i paint them....i plan to stucco them or something....i don't just want painted wood so you can see the grain of the wood. I can't wai

Today i'm hoping to prime and paint the two 2 story additions. the 2 conservatories will wait another day as I have other work to do on them. I like the color! Hopefully the next time I get to this house I can get it tape wired!

tools

I wish i was proficient at using power tools. I'm not. I just figured out how to use my circular saw attatchment for the dremel. it's been a long time since i've used it. can't cut a straight line. I wanted to cut 6 new doorways in the foxhall but after attempting to cut one, i give up. It's not a big deal anyway, i was going to lose alot of wall space for furniture if i put in more doorways. wish i had decided this before i bought all the extra interior doors for this

1/2 inch scale light house kit

I love this kit. The wood is beautiful, the laser cuts are incredible and the pieces tiny and detailed. Can't believe a laser can do such an incredible job. I'm very impressed with this kit. It's gorgeous. I bought the 1/12th scale kit and base and when I found out there was a 1/2" scale kit I couldn't resist getting that one as well. I'm so glad that i did! I have a few photos that I took this morning of my 1/2" scale kit. I love the looks of it so much and it looks like it will b
