9/27 My double french doors arrived today! I got two sets, they will work out perfectly! I'm hoping to get the walls and floors completely installed this weekend. I will be building a 3 story addition for both ends of the house. I want a large kitchen and a larger living space. I'll be doing a major bash on this house. I won't post pictures until my ideas start coming together.

Finished Granville interior!

Yay! The interior is finished. The exterior is VERY close to being finished! I took photos, the polyurethane is still wet so it looks abnormally glossy. couldn't wait to take pictures tho I still need to cover the edges that are still exposed. I don't have wood wide enough tho so i'll have to wait until payday for that. I hope you like this house! i really like the way it has turned out. I should be completely finished with it sometime this week. I'll post exterior ph

granville photos :)

Well, getting closer to being done! I have a few photos of recent progress. Things I still need to do: exterior: trim stained and polyurethaned over all exposed exterior edges....this includes all sides and roof edges. I also need to paint and varnish the pokey outie thingie trim pieces for the porch railings and get them installed. I'm debating whether to put a no gloss varnish on the roof and shingles. Interior: I just finished cutting and staining inter

granville stairs arrived today! too big.

Well, my staircases arrived today, they are nice, they are the houseworks brand. Unfortunately they are too long and will block my new doorway that i made...not only that they are not quite the scale I want for this house...a little too big in my opinion. So I'll settle for using the Hobby Lobby stairs, i'll have to go buy one at a time so i can use a 40% off coupon each time. I tried Andrews set to see how they look. They are a bit small for the house, but i can live with that. The staircase op

different bathroom layouts

I tried the bathroom set in different positions. I like them all but I really like the bathtub against the back wall for several reasons, the biggest reason is that I want to be able to see the design ....so although i'm sure i wouldn't want to walk into a real life bathroom and have the toilet right when i look into the doorway, it is okay with me for this house So that is how it will be, toilet in front of the open door, bathtub against the back wall. I'll have a small shelf unit or somethin

My bathroom set arrived for the Granville!

I really like it! It's a shame the bathroom in the Granville is so long and narrow....i'll play around with the bathroom set a little more and see if i can display it better. anyway, from the photos it looks like the room is small, it is narrow, but what you can't see is how long the room really is. There is actually plenty of room between each item...it just looks all bunched up and squished in the photos...anyway, i'm excited to have found this set...someone here on the forum posted photos of

granville....

August 7th, 2008 Okay, today i glued the trim pieces and all the balcony railings and stuff into place. I will be okay with how it looks. It drives me crazy to see how trim can match up...or in this case...not match up...but i am trying to remember that this is a rehab and i'm doing the best that i can do. i can't take the trim apart, it breaks to easy so i will have to overlook the obvious defects. I have to also remember this isn't a house to try to be perfect with, it comes with

more granville pic's

Well I took some shots of the granville with the trim/railings dry fitted....still need to glue them in place. I also took interior shots of the rooms with doors in them. I like the look an actual door gives a room. So far on my 1/8" plywood houses i haven't put doors inside...don't know why, just haven't. Anyway, they still need to be stained and of course polyurethaned. I can't wait to see the finished product! I love the contrast of stained wood against wallpaper. I moved the doo

Granville progress :)

Today I FINISHED the trim! yay! I was determined to finish painting it today. I did a dry fit of the porch railings and I like the look of it! I just need to paint the pokey outie trim pieces but I'll do that last so that I don't knock them off. I'll glue the railings in tomorrow! I decided to put doors in this house...so I cut the openings just a smidge wider...and wouldn't you know it...the doorway will be in the way of the staircase on the 2nd floor. So....i'm thinking I may hav

skellie people

Here are a few of the skellie people that I have started so far. I have a few others that I put into positions (repositioned limbs and hands) but they aren't wigged yet. I have a male and female that will be sitting up in bed reading. I can't remember what the others are.... Anyway, these are a start, i still need to style the hair (the butler and the male playing the piano need a haircut) and the ladies will have haircuts and styles as well. I needed a better pair of scissors and n

fun photos

I was in the mood to take some fun photos so that i can daydream about finishing a house and decorating it...lol... Keep a few things in mind in these photos: nothing matches (furniture, bedding, wallpaper), I was just trying out some photos and used what i could find quickly (stuff i have upstairs and didn't have to unpack). I really can't wait to do up a girls room so I wanted to set these items and dolls out to help stimulate ideas for how i want to decorate a littl

making progress on the granville rehab

I have some updated photos. I finished the wood flooring today and the wainscoting in the bathroom. I can't wait to apply polyurethane and make the wood come to life! I need to complete my outside before I do this tho. So next steps: repaint the porch ceilings and finish painting all of the trim. Complete the foundation treatment (whatever that will be). Install all railings and exterior trim. I do need to clean off the shingles (dust) and finish one little area that the previous owner left inco

updated granville photos

7/11/08... I have some photos! This is the house so far...lots more work to do. I need to repaint the porch ceilings. they are a cream color that looks white. I have to paint them to match the railings...so...I need to finish off the roof, she didn't shingle one small roof section...and i removed the ugly trim along the roof peaks so i need to finish that off. Then it's the foundation... In the end i will put a trim piece over all exposed edges in front and back. I also need to put

paint paint and more paint

Well I decided that my cream color for the railings looks too white. So I bought a deeper cream color and i've painted a couple of peices so far. Looks GREAT! Much better. I'm taking a short tea break and then it's back to painting trim. If it's at all possible i'd like to have all the trim painted today. 2 coats. that is asking alot but i'll give it a try. I really want to get going on the more fun stuff, like choosing the wallpaper!

fun stuff for the Granville

I stopped by Joann's today and bought some lace for the Granville....lace for the dining room table I just now at this second realize that i won't be having in it...lol...(no room for a dining room) (i'll use it in the Foxhall I guess, it's so pretty)...i'll use it as a table runner. I also bought some ribbon for stair runners, and some other lace for a little girls room. There is just so much pretty lace but the price is just...well...too pricey to buy one of each... I've been wor

I cut the openings for the stairways a little bigger and added a wall on the first floor so that I had a hallway. It bothered me that the room was so large and it looked weird. I had thought about doing that before but didn't know what kind of staircase I was going to put in so I decided to wait until I made that decision. Anyway, tomorrow I will work on the ceilings and get those completed. I want to decorate this house! Need to get my construction work done so I can have the fun of choosing wa

Almost completed Westville :)

Well the Westville is almost finished! I just need to get the shingles done (got a bit of a start yesterday), glue the back bottom trimstrip on and as i was taking photos i realized i need to glue a couple of pieces of trim in the attic. So I'm ready to move on to another project. I'm thinking it will be my Granville rehab, but at the same time i'd like to do something smaller. I'm not sure what that would be tho...I've been wanting to work on dressing a wigging a porcelain doll or making a fern

My list of dollhouses and store kits that I have

Attention: 1/22/09. Please do not contact me to request to buy any of my kits. I have had several inquiries to purchase different houses and I do not plan on responding to anymore inquiries. Sorry. If I sell any more kits in the future, I would list them on a reliable (for both parties) media such as ebay so as to decrease potential problems that can come up in a sale. I do not intend to sell anymore at this time. I will not respond to anymore requests for copies of instructions/schematics eithe

westville progress

6/18/08 Grumble. Yesterday I felt well enough to deal with my discomfort so I spent most of the day working on cutting and staining for the trim for my Westville. Yes, I know i was overdoing things. I did plan to take it easy today but that I would work on my westville a "little bit" more. I have felt terrible today, pain, nausea, vomiting etc so i am not working on anything today. had to go back to bed for several hours only to wake up with acid reflux and vomiting. I

Finally did some work on the Westville.

Well it seems like ages since i worked on mini's. just haven't felt much up to working on stuff these days (haven't been feeling well). So today i made myself dig in and accomplish a little bit of something. I finally committed to using dry wall mud to texture the ceilings. Got that done. I sanded all the trimwork. Not up to sorting it out and painting/staining it today tho. So I feel like I'm making a little progress. Once i get the ceilings painted i'll really make some progress. I have had th

This is going to be a fun rehab!

I really like this house! Removing the windows was pretty easy. I took the interior trim off and pushed the windows out of their holes from the inside of the house toward the outside, only one gave me some problems, they were easy to remove. I will have to repair the 2nd story door, it fell apart when i pushed it out. Shoulda used the utility knife to loosen it up. The porch railings came off pretty easy, they were for the most part, loose around the bottom edges...guess that was an

BH interior complete!

Aside from a few small paint touch ups, the interior of this house is now complete! I added window sills to the living room windows, fixed the wallpaper around the upgraded front door...installed the front door and trim...installed the kitchen french doors and trim and put up wainscotting in the kitchen. It made the room more interesting and it covered up the torn wallpaper that resulted from my cutting a new doorway. I also finally got the frame for the tower opening put together a

My Westville

This wasnt' my first choice for paint color for the house but it will do. I like it overall tho. I was goint to paint the window frames the same color as the trim but i think it looks good all one color. It would have been hard to paint the window frames a different color anyway and i thought it might look funny. The trim will probably be a creamy white. I have another Westville in the box and I will do that one up with siding (and to look like it does on the box). I chose the vert

library set. It looks like it's a knock off of bespaq. i don't know if it's hansson or not, it doesn't say. I love it tho and it cost me half the price so i won't complain that it's not bespaq. This set will go into one of the rooms in my Foxhall
