Completed Glencroft interior pic's

I polyurethaned the interior and exterior wood and wood floors. Looks great in person! I just need to do the roof and the house is complete! hmmmm, i just realized i forgot to take a picuture of the front of the house! it actually does look different cuz adding the polyurethane darkened the trimwork like i had hoped! when i get the roof on, i'll take more exterior shots!

imperial dream dollhouse

I took a ton of photos for this house, but at this time will only post a portion, it will be more interesting to see photos of a house in progress rather than just the shell...plus i'm just not in the mood but i did say i would post pic's today

Westville pictures

The roof panels arent glued on yet, except the large one to the right (looking from back) and the back panel with the little window. The attic is a small long room, which will be hard to decorate unless i do it before the roof is installed. I really really like this house, it's just adorable! I have so many photos to catch this blog up on, i won't add many of each, just not in the mood

More Glencroft photos!

I'm adding a bunch of photos, if some of the photos look the same, sorry, it's just different angles give it a different look, and also, i added other trim pieces and the window box and such after i took the first round of pictures. I'm also including one photo at the end of the Harrison, what stage it's in so far. I hope to get one or two coats of paint on the ceiling today, so that later this week I can wallpaper! Today, the plans for my Glencroft....well i think i did all of the

This is the exciting part, making the house look like something!!!

exterior work today!

Last night, i put spackle over the tabs on the left wall, then filled in the gaps on the interior and exterior where the beams poke thru the holes. I've decided to not use the front porch, i'll make another one, but smaller cuz i'd like to plant bushes under the front windows. Today i'll be working on the exterior texture which will be sand paint. I'll have to wait for that to dry before i can paperclay the fireplace (exterior), so that will be a project for another day. I doubt i'l

New Glencroft pictures

Yay, making progress on the Glencroft! Today I got the beams installed, the carpet runner in place and the last section of wall (by the stairs) in place. THings left to do: patch openings around beams, retouch up that interior paint. Exterior texture and a coat of paint. Installation of exterior trim. Paperclay exterior fireplace, then back to the interior to install the flooring, then placing all interior trim. Should be done by then! It's starting to come together no

Glencroft progress photos

These photos show the work that i did yesterday. Next weekend i'll paint the interior and the paperclay, then i can put the staircase together, then put the final outside of the shell together and paperclay the exterior fireplace. Still lots of work to do. The photos aren't very exciting but just wanted to post them to show progress. I am bummed about the kitchen window sill. Before I started spackling, i realized that i shouldn't have glued that window frame and sill on yet cuz i needed to stai

progress on the glencroft

I sanded and stained all the interior trimwork (excluding any window frames), that was the extent of my progress today, i wish i had done more but time seemed to slip away. My next days off are tuesday, thursday and the weekend. I'm busy all day tuesday, so it looks like thurs is the next day to work on it. My job gets in the way of having fun. I wish i was independantly wealthy, i'd work on my hobbies ALOT!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't we all?!

My Glencroft

Well with the Chantilly finally finished and the Buttercup also completed, i've started the Glencroft this week. I love the cottage look, especially tudor. After this project I will switch up and get away from dark houses for a time. I will work on completing the Beacon Hill but I do want to work on the Pierce soon! Poor neglected house. It's my "Parthur" as someone has named it, a bash of a Pierce and and Arthur. Today's plans include sanding and staining all interior wood (beams,

Beacon Hill progress!!! sorry no photos yet

I made some good progress on the BH this weekend, wish I could work on it some, but this is my long week at work. My next day off is thursday, not sure what the upcoming week will hold since the new schedule still wasn't out when i left on friday. Anyway, i got the main house paint color done. I need to touch up the boo boos i made on the cream color, then give the cream color (basically all the trim and porch posts) a couple of coats of paint. I'm hoping to get away with just one

Foxhall Manor construction underway

May 15th 2007. Well after putting it off for a year now, I finally am working on my Foxhall Manor. I have so many other projects in the works and should have completed them first, but i could just see another 6 months or more passing before i could even start. On this previous sunday i got the shell completed and the interior room dividers in place. Today i will probably get the third floor/roof put together. This will be a very large project as i will be adding two additions AND the conservator

new chantilly photos. house almost completed

okay, i'm almost done!!!!!!!!! I just need the roof put on (waiting the $ to buy more paperclay) and i need beams for the ceilings, otherwise this house is done (oh i'll be putting moss on the exterior but this will wait until i landscape the house). This has been a wonderful house to build! Of course there are things i wish i could improve but...like the spackle in the attic along the joints. I forgot to cut trim to stain and glue into place to hide these

almost done!

April 22nd. I spent some time on the Chantilly yesterday. I dry brushed some color onto the walls. It may not look good but i like it  I'll try to post pictures later. It kind of has a purple cast to it (the dry brushing). i'm just fine with that i wanted a reddish tinge to the dry brushed areas and when i added antique maroon to the parchment and burnt umber, the color came up more purple, but i liked the hue, so i have a combination of dry brushed color on the walls.

the chantilly and the pierce

April 20th, 2007. I'm working on the bash of an Arthur and the Pierce. I had a productive day. I added 1/2 inch height to my arthur foundation. I got most of the Pierce built (except the tower roof). The front porch roof gave me some fits and it's not perfect, but it isn't going to get any better, but at least it will do. When i moved the house down to the family room i of course grabbed it by the front porch roof <_< i need to re-glue part of it since it is now loose. That can wait unti

stained the wood flooring

sunday april 15. Yesterday i cut the ends off of the craft sticks for the wood flooring for the chantilly, i also sanded all of the trim pieces. Today i only had time to stain the trim pieces and the individual wood flooring pieces. On tuesday i'll probably get the wood flooring installed, i do need to apply polyurethane on the trim pieces and the staircase, i'll try to get that done as well. after the floor is installed and the glue is dry, i'll throw a couple of coats of poly on the flooring a

little more progress

I painted the interior one coat of "parchment" color. I won't add another layer, but i am thinking of dry brushing a hint of a darker color over the top. It looks to uniform, especially since the walls are stucco. I put in the flooring for the kitchen and bath, i just need to work on the wood flooring for the other two rooms, and some other woodwork, including the ceiling beams. and all the interior trim. The house is really getting closer to construction complete, but i need to put moss on the

pictures :)

I forgot, i still need to glue on the chimney trim and paint it. So for today....i'll probably just put varnish on the porch and trim and call it a day. I completed the spackle inside, glad to get that done. I'm getting pretty close to completing this house!!!! I forgot to pick up a can of red oak stain while i was Lowe's yesterday, so i can't stain any interior trim or the ceiling beams. anyway, here's a buncha pictures. I'll start off with when i applie

exterior almost complete!

I'm really excited! i'm almost finished with the exterior. I want to put one more coat of paint on the trim, then cover it with varnish. The exterior will then be complete! I'll add the moss in after the whole house is finished....oh...forgot that i still have the shingles to do, but other than that.... Today i'll apply the interior spackle. on my next day off i'll put a coat or two of paint on that. Then i just need flooring, ceiling beams and all the interior trimwork. This is su

working on the exterior!

I put two coats of dirty wash on the house this morning. I've then colored some of the stones...not sure if i will leave it the way it is or not. I decided to walk away and give it a second look in a little while. I'll have Andrew give his opinion of it when he wakes up. I want to keep the stonework muted, but then again i don't want it to look lifeless with the same look all over...I took lots of pictures, i'll download them later. I'm going to attatch the roof today!

small progress on the beacon hill, large progress on the chantilly!

This week i completed siding the beacon hill! I was excited to have accomplished this! Yesterday i put spackly on what i hope will be the last of the construction areas (i still have to spackle the edges of the windows and trim pieces (whatever they are called...the little decoration on the house) I didn't want to apply them first then spackle, it will just be easier to do it this way. Yesterday i also took a couple of the dormer windows apart. one had the base crooked in the upsta

more photos

I'm including some photos from this week. I still need to finish siding the tower and the little hard area by the roof, then the siding will be completed! I got impatient to see how it would look so i applied one coat of paint to the front of the house. i think it will need another 3 coats before i get the look i want (i applied 3 coats to the area under the porch and it still could use one more). I still need to finish the porch, sand the porch roof/balcony as the joints are uneven, apply a coa

beacon hill siding

I managed to get more of the siding done today, it's more than halfway completed, i'll finish the siding up sometime this week. I took a bunch of pictures, but i'm going to go watch a movie now, so i'll post the pictures tomorrow. I love this house. I'd actually like to build it again someday. I love the colors...burgundy and a creamy color okay, here's a few pictures i'll post a bunch more tomorrow

dormer windows installed

I got the dormer windows installed finally! I had to do a little bit of a modification with each to make them fit but i'm so glad they are done. ....oh i don't have pictures tho. next week tho!! I also sanded the spackle down on the porch posts and got one coat of paint on them....i was going to do a little bit more today but I got a delivery in the mail today so i stopped! I know i'm behind the times, but i've never seen any episodes of desperate housewives (i don't wa
