Little hallway almost done

I have been working on this almost every day, but the photos just wouldn't tell much of a story! I am working on the exterior, but I am having trouble getting some pieces to fit, but the rest is coming along well. Here are photos of the hall on the second floor. The chair belongs to another house, but I like the Chrysnbon ones so much, I think I will have to get some for this house. It looks good here. Next pic shows the other wall with a little bedside

Done some wallpapering

I have finally had some time and motivation to get some more work done on this house. Given the size of the Adams, it's surprising how much time it takes up! As I still lack some items like lights and tiles, it is hard to complete other things - these things must be done in a certain order! I have been quite busy painting doors, windows, architrave and other bits of wood for it. Here is a picture of the main bedroom, which is well on it's way to being the first complet

Some progress made

I have almost finished the front panel of the house. It is all paper-clayed and now is just waiting for the window sills to go in. I will make them of cardboard, glue them on and then paper-clay over them. I want to get started on the back panel, but I don't have anymore foamcore (it's not available in my area). I am liking how it is looking. The photos aren't great, I took them last night in the dark, but you get the idea.

I have been working - honest!

Well, I have been working on this house despite the lack of blog entries! It has just been rather boring stuff, so I haven't bothered too much. Windows have been mostly painted and antiqued, almost ready to go in (they won't go in yet - I have to build the front and back walls which will not be attached, they will simply lift off). I have wired it all up and tested it yesterday - yay, it all works! And I have finished putting all the internal walls in. The third storey will be the

Windows got hacked apart

This weekend I started working on my windows for the French shoppe. I trimmed off the frame so that they can be inserted into thick walls. They are painted a colour called parchment, and will be aged with a grey-brown antiquing medium. I need to get some other windows and doors, which will need the same treatment, so I will probably antique it all at once (last). I also adjusted a bed I'd previously painted and antiqued. I will make some bedding from lace for this, and

Construction has started

I have started to put the house together, even though I haven't cut all of the door and window holes. This isn't a big issue as most of them are on the front and back panels, which will be removable, so I can do them last. This pic shows the first floor. On the left, the bathroom, the entry in the middle and the kitchen on the right. Behind these rooms is a shop and a small room behind the shop. This pic shows a close up of the kitchen exterior wall. The grand plan!

Below is a very rough interpretation of what I will build. It will also have a dormer of some description in the centre of the roof, which I haven't drawn in as I haven't figured out how it will look! The back will be similar in appearance only it will have a shop front at the bottom instead of the windows and door. Below is some inspiration, how the exterior will look once it is complete. At least I hope that I can capture some of the character and romance!!!

Getting started

Ok, my first post! I can't go back now! I am starting this blog for a number of reasons. The primary one is I am starting a new mini project and I am going to finish it! I also like to write. And sometimes, I just really need to vent something that has nothing to do with minis (or anything else for that matter) and so here is my outlet! So what project are you starting? I hear you ask. Well, I've seen some amazing French houses of late, and decided I must recreate my o
