  2. Jungle Animal Rug (half scale)

    From the album Mini Needlework

I adapted this design from a life sized rug I found online. It's stitched over one on 40 count linen for a finished size of about 3.5" by 2.5". I'm using it in my Victorianna's nursery, which has a safari theme. More details and a downloadable chart are on my blog: http://www.emilymorganti.com/blog/?p=12327

  3. What's everyone working on?

Just opened the box for the Glencroft and I have a question for Holly. Holly I seem to remember you writing that you had some problem with this one, I think it was the roof, do you have any suggestions before I start, this house will be wallpapered, some paint and some stain. I am not planning on changing it at all unless I come across something during the build or dry build.
  4. Bashing two houses together

I shall try and portray Grandma encouraging RRH to be creative
  5. Bashing two houses together

My father's mother died when I was just a baby, but I was very close to my mother's mother. She was an artist who painted, and she always had time for and encouraged my creative side.
  6. My new project

Nicely done.  I wasn’t as gaga over the blue as everyone else until I saw it with the black shutters....now I like it. Also the new shingles look fab, are they just painted?

    What about a roombox?
  13. What's everyone working on?

    What a pretty kitchen paper.
  14. Bashing two houses together

My  mother worked with my stepdad in his business so I spent weekends and most other days with my maternal grandparents, who also lived in West Palm Beach.  My grandma taught me needlearts and basic cooking (my poor mother was a dismal/ indifferent cook) and my grandpa read to me.  My mother's divorce from my father meant I never got to see or know my paternal grandparents.
  15. Showcase Our Miniature Finds

I found a fabulous piece done by Ray Whitledge - he does such nice work.
  16. What's everyone working on?

I'm happy to say I got the dining room wallpaper, chimney breast and lighting all back up. Just have to add the crown moldings again. I also got the wallpaper for the kitchen, and was thrilled to get that up. I'm now finally happy with my choice! I hope this inspires me to finally select the papers for the last 2 rooms on the 3rd floor, and then start on my kitchen cabinets.
  17. What are you up to today? This week?

I will Kathie. Now I’m figuring where I can display the set. They’ve been stashed away in my BR closet for years. Maybe I’ll build a shelf and display them on a wall. Hummmm.
  18. Greetings from Chicago

Hi Keith - welcome to our obsession! I too live in Chicago area. You probably know that we now only have one local shop left - Lolly's in Elgin. Janet can help you with some of the how-to's if you ask her,

  24. Bashing two houses together

So many views of grandmothers, I did have grand parents on both sides until I was 6, and have memories of them although there was a language barrier there,  neither spoke much English only Italian.  My mother’s side my grandmother lived until I was in my early 20’s.  She was a typical grandmother, always trying to get me to eat more!  Her native language was German, so there was a lot of that mixed with the English.  She taught me to knit, crochet and tat, although we did not see her often.  When I think of grandmothers I think of her.

Thanks! So far this has been a fun, easy, and fast project. Everything was 50% off, too, so not much investment. The Snow Tex comes next, so I'm excited to see how I like it. Someday I'd like to make a house out of a kit, so this is a good trial run. And, these are going to work for public display, so I didn't want to invest too much in them.

Any one who buys this house is going to need  $5,500 to pay for tetanus treatments ....Ya'd think they could sand it down a little?
