What is your style for Easter? Mine is rustic....
FurMama replied to Luanne's topic in General Mini Talk
Neat! I hardly decorate anything anymore, no time, I go elsewhere now for holiday celebrations and everything becomes a cat toy anyway😆 -

I have them and have been building the Glencroft this winter. You will need more than just the instructions for a couple parts. Very tricky however once seeing photos of other building blogs it made sense.

I don't do seasonal decorations for my 1:1 house (except Christmas)! -

This is really wonderful, and I have a big soft spot for rustic. I especailly love the flower cart in the background, and a very fun twist on the cornicopia!. I am very new to the miniaturist world, so I ave not done Easter yet. Perhaps I will have honed enough skills by Christmas. - Yesterday

Good point. I'm headed to the hardware today and will pick some up.

You might want to throw on a coat of some kind of sealer first, since the grout will be wet.

I did order some printed brick, but was pretty unhappy with it. I'd like to go with the real deal. The foam core is triple layer, and the glue and paper wrap make it pretty darn strong. I've already shoved it off the table a few times just to test it. But, there is still a risk of torque when carrying it, so I'm hoping to find a grout with some super bond. I did find this old Greenleaf post, so I'll experiment with these ideas. I assume these are wood dollhouse structures, though. Pic attached is the stone wall I am referring to. Typical landscaping fill, but scale seems to work. Going for that field stone look just on one corner. Saw something like it many years ago, a 1960s apartment building. All I can do is try. I'll fail, succeed, or probably land somewhere in the middle. Updates to follow. So far, each stone is washed, dried, then attached with No-Nails. Holding fine, takes a little effort to pry them loose. Perhaps I can mix no-nails with sand.

I found this great little prefab castle which folds together; at Michael's, marked down to $6.25- minus its drawbridge! Working it 1:24 2024 update: I have not been diligent working on this. Honestly, hardly thought about it for a few years..... I did finish the stained glass windows and some trim. The kit did not come with the drawbridge, it has a gaping hole on which I have been deliberating. I wanted a stately bed, but the rooms are so small.

This is one of my dream kits. A friend here helped me take the plunge on a new kit. I have high hopes for this one!

These are 1/6 scale real cement blocks and bricks. Will be doing a diorama with them. -
Any helpful hints on what grout to use for tiles and wall stone (real stone, not the printed kind)? My house is triple-layer foam core wrapped in glue and paper, which makes it very light and pretty strong, but there is still a bit of flex in it, and I'd hate to start popping the grout every time I move the house. It will get one final stabalizing base once I'm done, so the flex will be little in the end. But still ... Thoughts?
