  1. So, I am starting on clearing kits, since acquiring the Granville.  I have to admit, it is nice to have these kits, but some of them don't really speak to me, and the others I know I won't get to, as the ones I am keeping will be built first.  So, private message me if you are interested.  I have them priced below (including shipping) what I have found out there on Amazon, eBay, etc.  Shipping will be UPS as they seem to have the cheapest rates based on the box sizes and weight.  All of these are in the original boxes and are still sealed unless noted. Beacon Hill Fairfield Glencroft Pierce McKinley - I have 2 of these.  One is not in the original box, but it is complete. Real Good Toys Newport - it is an MDF Kit   This is the first round of selling kits.  I have a few others, but need to get them out, measure, weigh, and figure $$ and shipping costs.

Arrow Imperial with $50 starting bid and $75 buy it now. $57 shipping.
  3. What's everyone working on?

I love it when a house finally speaks to you!  I have been working on the Vineyard Cottage again, pushing to get it finished up.  I bought a "halloween-ish" bookshelf that I just fell in love with.  I really had no plans for it, but bought it anyway.  Then the Vineyard spoke up!  So now I am going to make it a witch's cottage.  I had planned on painting the outside purple, so it all fell together.  I pulled out my J Hermes "skeletons in the closet" wallpaper and some matching sheets.  I then discovered a couch and chair I had bought about a year ago with a Halloween theme.  It is all starting to fall together (in my head).

It looks like the Elliot Bay by Clell Boyce.

A couple of "Bargains" are listed on eBay, if you are not scared away from possible missing parts: $25 Beacon hill with $24 shipping!   $75 starting bid on a Van Buren with $20 shipping:   And then this Van Buren at $185 and free shipping:   This Hofco keeps getting relisted:   And of course these TWO are now showing up in my area.  But after getting the Granville, I can't do it!  Of course they are both excellent buys.

It is mine!  The seller dropped the price to $80. Right now it is in the back of my Highlander, covered with a dark blanket. The windows are tinted, so you can't see in the back.  I will eventually move it in the house. Of course it needs to be cleaned up and re-glued. I will replace the gingerbread and porch posts, and other bashing. Thinking of a Bricktorian! I will be thinning my stash, but the rare ones I will be keeping (the Fantasy Island House for one).
  7. "Destroying" a couple Lawbre houses?

WOW! WOW! WOW!  I really like what you did here!  I can see the Rosedawn recreated this way.  Laura is such a beautiful home and has such a great history.  I say go for it!  This would be a fun bash on what is a cookie cutter plantation house kit (sorry if offend anyone, Rosedawn is a pretty house).  I think it would be a show stopper with the colorful paint scheme that the Creoles loved so much.

I really like the new roof design.  It looks completely natural, as if it was a different version of the original house.  So may vintage architects plan books will have the same floor plan and change up the exterior to suit different tastes of the owner.  It also gives you some extra space for an apartment that maybe the greenhouse wouldn't.  I also like the angles ceiling in attic spaces.
  9. Pros and Cons of the Cricut Maker

Jumping into this thread.  I too am anxious to hear what all mini people use these tools.  I think if I had more ideas, I might just spend $$ on one.  Michael's keeps doing great sales on the Cricut.

I would probably thin out the less rare ones.  I think it is the collection that is taking up a corner of the attic, and knowing I won't get to them all.  He sees the stack of boxes every time he goes to the attic (its a walk up with a balcony we use).  I also think he doesn't want completed houses all over the house.  Right now one is in a bedroom, and the other 2 projects are in the office.

I am seriously thinking of thinning out my stash.  I know I will not be able to build all that I have.  So if I do that, he might be more accepting to the Granville arriving.  I looked online and found the dimensions, so will measure my vehicle.  I am sure I can fold down the back seats and it will fit no problem.  He rarely rides in it, so he may not notice it in the back, covered up . . .

UGH!!!  The Price has now dropped to $85 from the original $200.  I am seriously wondering if iI can keep it in my vehicle until I can sneak it into the house.

This one keeps popping up.  Now the price has dropped.  I have been strong, but it is now so tempting.  But someone would have a fit if I bring another one into the house.
  14. Newest Addition to Our Home

Here is our latest addition to the household. His name is Rupert. He was rescued from a junkyard car, where he and his five siblings were in the trunk.  Just before the car was to be crushed, the meowing was heard. A grey little miracle.
  15. Newest Addition to Our Home

They are all very lucky.  One of my coworkes brought them to work, and all six were adopted.
  16. Opening Scene Replicas

That one and the Old House from Dark Shadows are the ones I really, really want.  I am almost at the point to just build them myself.  The other one I really wanted was Tara from Gone With the Wind, and I lucked into that a couple of years ago on eBay. Soooooooooooo  if ever you get the urge to get rid of your Collinwood Foyer, let me know!
  17. Opening Scene Replicas

If anyone has ANY of these dollhouse kits or room box kits, please let me know!  I am looking for many of the models to build. Thanks! Matt
  18. Opening Scene Replicas

They are difficult to find in a search.  You can come up with the some pictures of the Little House on the Prairie, Andy Griffith Show, and Dark Shadows.  But the others are hard to find.
  19. Fun Eye Candy

I found this while searching for an answer to another query.  Such fun and inspiration.  I thought it might have been posted before, but I could not find in a search.
  20. Emily, I have it!  Do you still a scan of the story?
  21. Help identifying house

I believe this is a house built from Architect's Choice plan #7 created by Fred Stephenson. It is missing the Tower roof. He has several design plans out. I have this one and a couple of others.
  22. "Destroying" a couple Lawbre houses?

This is an awesome idea! It would take some work, but I love a good bash on a house to bring it to life. I have never built a house to the original specifications. I am 100% behind however you want to create the houses!
  23. selling some more miniatures on ebay

I have been watching your items pop up in my "save" page (I follow you on eBay) and am already watching a couple of them.
  24. "Destroying" a couple Lawbre houses?

Hi Kelly! I would be excited to see such creations.  I live in New Orleans, and know Laura Plantation very well.  There are actually quite a few of the Creole homes/plantations left, and doing a mini house would be a great tribute to them.  Have you  ever looked up the work of Noel & Pat Thomas?  They do "aging" on their homes and they are beautiful!  Do what makes you happy.  It already sounds you know, you rarely get the $$ from the time and investment in the houses when you do sell them.  That, to me, is what makes miniatures a hobby (not a profession)
  25. Ebay, Etsy & Craig's List Links

I saw this listing last night.  They seem very proud of it, but ouch  the work involved to get it in good condition.  Definitely a child's play house.
