  2. This story is adorable and it ended exactly as I thought it would. XD Thank you for sharing. :)

    Cool Mini Finds

Sometimes I find neat mini things at thrift/antique stores. ^_^

From the album: Cool Mini Finds

Had some out of town family visiting Western New York, so we took them to Olcott Beach, wound up browsing in a small boardwalk antique shop where I came across these. 1:12 scale old timey school desks. The seats even fold up for just a front desk. Not sure what I'm going to do with these, but they were so cool and surprisingly affordable, so I felt compelled to add them to my personal collection. ^_^
  5. Wow, that looks like it's going to be a very big and very beautiful house. Can't wait to see more of the project. :)
  6. Hello everyone, long time no see. Between a big move to my art studio last Summer and more Dollhouse/Art shows being added to my schedule, my miniatures and I have been zig-zagging across western/central New York. It's been an interesting experience and come September (Sept. 25th - WNYME Dollhouse Show in Hamburg, NY), all of my tiny creations will start traveling again, but for now most of my inventory plans on spending the Summer online. So if you missed me at a show, or you would like to browse my artist offerings, you can find my work available at my Etsy shop; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleLefort And a large portion of my inventory is also posted at my eBay store; http://stores.ebay.com/kylelefort I have been posting a few new items each week on eBay and once I'm out of store listings there I will start adding more to Etsy, so feel free to check back later. ~ By request, I also have plans to focus more on 1:48 scale items this year. Since 1:48 is a scale I only began working in because I was asked to a few years ago, I'm open to suggestions for new items. If there's anything in my shops that you'd like to see made in 1:48 or there is something that you have a tough time finding for your collections fell free to shout it out here. I'm not planning on accepting any commissions, but I would like to make sure that the super tiny things I create are actually things that other people would enjoy. I have a big magnifying glass now (such a good idea) and am more willing than ever to attempt to do cool stuff in that tiny scale.

    Slowly getting there

    That floor is gorgeous. :)
  8. I kind of like the stairs. It makes it look like a cut away view of a house, like in those "How It Works" books. They're definitely a design challenge, but I think I kind of like that too. Definitely painting them though. I don't really like the white. I know all the trim is white, and I think that goes well with the house, but I just feel like bright white paint isn't how most people handle the stairways in their homes. Needs to be a brown or just something that goes better with the hardwood flooring on the 1st floor.
  9. I meant to post this earlier, but got so busy...better the week before than never. Right? The Western New York Miniature Enthusiasts are having their dollhouse show and sale on September 27th. http://stepoutbuffalo.com/events/wny-miniature-enthusiasts-35th-annual-dollhouse-show-sale/ I'm not a member of the club, but I will be selling some of my miniature work there.
  10. Oh wow, How did you figure that out so fast???? I didn't even know that company existed. Thank you Kelly! It is a nice house, I can't believe how lucky I was to get this one.
  11. Hello Everyone, I recently bought this pretty red dollhouse at a rummage sale. Probably the nicest old dollhouse I've ever had the chance to rehab. All I have to do for this rehab is clean the house, fix some of the porch railings, and replace the yellowed/torn/sticker covered window "glass". Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what house this is. Definitely a kit. Slot and tab construction. There's an extra room added onto the kitchen, but I'm pretty sure that is part of the kit. The last house I brought home was an old Greenleaf Van Buren, and the windows are similar to that. So my guess is that it's another Greenleaf, but I'm not sure.
  12. Yeah, having a brother who is really into entomology has really brought some of the weird stuff from Harry Potter home. (Which is odd, since he never got into the books or the movies). In the Goblet of Fire movie, that scene where the kids are taught about the Unforgivable curses, I thought those weird spider things were made up CGI creatures - Nope, those creepy things are real. We had a couple walking around here once. Tail-less whip scorpions, perfectly harmless to humans, but they sure don't look it. XD
  13. Thanks guys. Holly, all the insects/arachnids start off as photographs of the real things, but yes I made every part of these. My brother is the source of these bugs, he has a whole Facebook page of entomology work if you'd like to see some of it; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nathan-Lefort/667222623368680 The Goliath Bird-Eating Tarantula in the set I posted is actually a tiny replica of one of his "late" pets. That giant spider will never be forgotten. XD
  14. Hi everyone! I got back into making tiny riker mounts for an upcoming non-miniatures show. Basically I agreed to take over a table at a reptile expo for someone who found out they can't make it, and part of the deal is that I can bring some of my "relevant" miniatures with me. This should be a nice adventure. Anyway, the show isn't for a few months, so the first batch or two of my new riker mounts are being posted for sale online. While I do plan on posting individual and small sets of these tiny riker mounts - Here is one large set including all of the insects I currently have available in miniature. Up for auction on eBay; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dollhouse-Miniature-Riker-Mount-Butterfly-Displays-Large-Artist-Made-Set-/281574544402 What do you think?

I'm making riker mounts again, for an upcoming non-miniature show. (We'll see what the people walking past my table think. ) There are so many insects to list, I'm just going to send you over to my DeviantArt gallery submission, ok?

    Scenes & Other Minis

Not everything I make goes into a dollhouse. Sometimes things are made for the holidays, maybe the occasional contest, gifts for friends/family, showpieces/my personal collection, and the rest is put up for sale at shows/my etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/shop/kylelefort Zibbet; http://www.zibbet.com/KyleLefort , And on eBay; http://www.ebay.com/sch/lekyle23/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I'll try to label whether or not things are still available, but if I've made something once, I can usually do it again. And I'm not against doing custom work. So if you see something you like, feel free to ask about it. :)

3 Tailed Sulphurs. (a type of yellow butterfly) I'm making riker mounts again, for an upcoming non-miniature show. (We'll see what the people walking past my table think. ) I am planning on posting several sets online though. This one in particular can be found on Etsy; https://www.etsy.com/listing/219051923/dollhouse-miniature-riker-mount-tailed?ref=shop_home_active_4

  19. Ha no worries, everyone is really bust this year. Even my scene was a rush job, and it's my blog. XD
  20. From the album: Scenes & Other Minis

I made a tiny Halloween scene for my blog challenge. The ghosts were a gift, I made the sign out of polymer clay, vinyl, paint, Sharpies, and Polycrylic. Read more about it here; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2014/10/happy-halloween.html

    Demo Done-ish

Well thanks to guerrilla glue, I'm pretty sure this will involve a chisel and some wishful thinking. XD
  22. That's really cool. Somebody was wondering about smell. Not sure about milk, but traditional tempera paint was egg whites, pigments and vinegar - The vinegar neutralized bad smells. So I'm guessing it would do it here too. Everything starts off smelling like vinegar at first though.

My 1:12 scale Rescued Van Buren

I was given an old Van Buren that someone found in the garbage. It's such a big pretty house, so I decided to make it my own,...right after I clean it up and fix it. More updates and photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/search/label/Van%20Buren
