I got one of these through something i was selling on eBAY a couple of years ago. All the same things, fed ex, threatening me cos I didn't cash the check, told FBI, who didn't even contact me back. The only difference is I never replied back to her threats, etc. just ignored the rest of her messages. I'm sorry but I can't believe that some people are gullible enough to cash these checks. Julie

How do you make realistic pipes?
avidcrazyquilter replied to Intrinsicat's topic in General Mini Talk
That really does look amazingly realistic. -
Me too! I want the one on Charmed. I have even tried to find one but couldn't. I think I did find a drawing of the floor plan, will have to look next time I have 5 minutes. Julie

Wow! Great Deal! Congrats!

How sweet of your Mom to get them for you. Maybe you could say they are those little tiny bottles of liquor you can buy in convenience stores in some states. Would be so nice to build a dollhouse with your Mom. Julie

Wow, some good ideas. I have a favorites folders for mini's but there are so many it's still hard to find them. Guess I need to go through and sort them into smaller categories somehow. I don't know why I didn't think of the notebook idea, I have one for quilting. I think I kind of slowed down on printing things out cause printer ink is so high. I also copy some things into Word, some into email, and then save gobs of pictures. I know I need to go through and sort them all but it would take me days and gets tedious so have only done a little. I also write lots of notes but most of them get written on something that gets lost. It's hard to believe I used to be organized. No easy way out of it, I am just going to have to take time to use a notebook for all my notes to be in one place, take the time to organize all my pictures and favorites into manageable categories. When you cut out ideas and things of magazines do you just throw the rest of it away. I find that kind of hard to do with the cost of them. It just came to me I could use sticky tabs and mark pages, organizing by category. Then I can keep my mags in case my tastes change and there is something else in them I need later. Thanks for all the great ideas! Keep em coming! Julie

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I find 100's of ideas of mini's I would like to try to make by hand on this forum, on the net, eBay, you name it. There are so many it is hard to keep up with them. I was wondering how everyone keeps track of all the ideas and pictures they find, how do you organize them so you can find them when you are ready to try it out? Julie

Wow, that really is a bummer! The baseboard or wainscotting sounds like a good idea. Or even a second wallpaper with a chair rail. Take a break and I am sure you will find the right solution. Julie

Mine would have to be a scratch built, done exactly how I want, down to the minutest detail.

I want to build another log cabin!
avidcrazyquilter replied to shamrockgirl18's topic in General Mini Talk
I have wanted to build a log cabin from scratch since I was a kid. I couldn't ever get one to stay together. Don't remember what kind of glue I was using but since that was a long time ago I'm sure there is something better now. I would like to hear about the Creekside too so will be watching the replies you get. Julie -

Scarey! Sorry you are going through this! Does not sound like anything I would want to go through for sure. Hope you are steadily back on your feet soon. Julie -
I would report it if it was me. They have a special form you fill out to do so. I think the one item I reported I had to do a search to find how to report it but didn't take but a few minutes.

Wow, he's impressive.

That is nice!

I am sure guilty. I couldn't even tell you what all is in my Harrison right now. Before Christmas I cleaned off the table and everything on it went in the Harrison and is still there. Great little storage area for now.

How much do you pay for electricity per month?
avidcrazyquilter replied to heidiiiii's topic in Chit-Chat
Our electric runs anywhere from $300 to $600. We do have a big house and 6 people living in it. We do have mostly the fluorescent bulbs throughout but since we are sort of 3 families in the same house we have multiple appliances, tvs, acs, and other items. We try to keep everything turned off and unplugged when not using and if we are very careful we can bring the bill down a little but not much seems to help. I think part of ours is that part of the house that we can't get to has the old knob and tube wiring. We have made several changes to try to bring out utilities down and are fixing to make another one. First my husband and I moved into a VERY small mobile home that sits beside our big house thinking using a smaller space would use less gas and electric. It has helped by about $100 a month but still not enough and the little trailer is driving us stir crazy so we are turning the big house over to my youngest daughter who makes more money than we do and is young enough to chase kids around and strangle them for leaving lights on. We are moving out to our farm into a bigger mobile home, 3 bedroom 2 bath 16' by 80'. My other daughter will be moving out as she finally got on HUD and her friend that has been living here is moving with her. So we hope all these changes will drop our bills by half. Sad that we have to leave my big house but at least it will still be in the family and the new house will be so much easier to take care of, leaving more time for minis and other things. Julie -
How do you feel about stairs in bedrooms?
avidcrazyquilter replied to Elsbeth's topic in General Mini Talk
But if there aren't any stairs how would our mini people get from floor to floor? I would rather have a wall dividing the stairs from the bedroom. I like my dollhouses to look as close to a real house as possible. -
S.I.B.S. (Stairway In Bedroom Syndrome)
avidcrazyquilter replied to Lynette Smith's topic in General Mini Talk
very interesting. Until I was about 12 my Grandmother's house still had no bathroom and no running water. The well was outside the back door about 20 feet, the outhouse was much further away up towards the barn. We took a bath in a galvanized tub. Later my Uncles built her a wellhouse with elecric pump and the back porch was converted into a nice big bathroom. i loved that house and hope to make a mini replica of it soon. Wish I could recreate the smells and lighting and atmosphere exactly like it was.
