Greenleaf Fairfield - Not so Fair of Face
shannonc60 replied to MissMolly's topic in Greenleaf Dollhouses
Welcome to the forum! And yes, that is pretty much the Greenleaf kits. Lovely designs but a huge amount of work to get them looking good. To push my own barrow, I design and laser cut my own 1:24 house/furniture/accessories kits if that helps. Link to my store in my signature below. -
Kelly, for what it's worth, I had kidney stones twice in my early 20s. It was the worst pain I've ever felt (no I haven't given birth). Anyway, if it helps, I drink copious amounts of water now and if I don't I can feel it in my kidneys after a while (like the very early signs of developing small kidney stones) and then I wil have urinary alkilisers - one or maybe two a day for a few days. Haven't had them since. This works for other people I know too.

Thanks Pezz26, hadn't thought of spoonflower, but could've been an option, but I have lots of expensive printer fabric sheets going to waste in my cupboard. I took a risk and bought a cheap Canon printer and it works great. Haven't tried vellum or acetate but the fabric went well.

Earth n Tree still has a good selection of half scale lighting but it's getting harder and harder to find. I used to get mine from the UK but those shops are gone or not stocking them either. I have a lighting tutorial on my website blog you might find helpful using the little string LED lights. Make shades with beads or small lids.

Thanks Emily. I don't think that is the problem. I have drawing programs that I can save images in high DPI and they will print well on photo paper or high resolution paper but everything else they're blurry. I did consider asking a printing service to print for me, but not sure they'd print on fabric. And that it might be the same problem.

Hi Carrie! Thanks gor replying. Oirs is an Epson too, but no, it doesn't even offer a draft quality print. I probably need to contact support and ask but find they are generally pretty useless. I will take a look to see if I can reduce the DPI.

I have some printable fabric sheets and want to print mini designs on them. My printer uses huge amounts of ink, making any print on basic printer paper, vellum, acetate or fabric a dirty blurry mess (it is meant for good quality prints on high quality/photo paper). So I am wondering if anyone else gets good quality prints on such materials with their printer and if so, what brand/model is their printer? I am going to buy a cheap printer but want to be sure it will work. Thanks!

There are books on art nouveau architecture that could help. And so many images on Pinterest. Like most architecture, the variation and amount of decoration/detail varies significantly and from country to country. Did you have a location in mind? English, French, Spanish? Our art nouveau architecture in Australia is quite different again (probably a lot simpler!).

Would love but don't need.... Hope you sell it easily. It's so lovely.

Newbie and OMG, Are You Kidding Me? SO FRUSTRATED...!

I can understand your frustration. I have put together plenty of kits from big name makers and the instructions were terrible. I suggest taking your time with the instructions and building, ask questions and check out how other people have done the trailer. Gina at this Blog has built all (?) or most (?) of the GL houses so might be of use. Not sure if she's done the travel trailer though. -
It takes a stretch of the imagination to see a strong resemblence, but each to their own! The houses are lovely either way.

That’s really cool! And a great idea!

Earth N Tree has its own range of windows in different sizes and probably a fair bit cheaper than Lawbre. Not sure if they’ll fit but worth a look. The Joseph Angel is a stunning house - you are very fortunate to still have one!

Me too! I rarely find what is on my list, but everything that isn’t. I just buy what I love. -
That is cute! I wonder where the stove came from? I love it (and it’s the same as my real life one).

Looks like they have lots of stuff. How nice that not all mini shops have closed.

Great house. Looks like a fun project! -
Some plywoods can have a fuzzy surface. Not sure why. It doesn’t indicate it’s a poor quality ply, just that the surface is more fibrous or something. It will sand off. But also MDF can be left with a fuzzy surface when tape is pulled off, as it pulls the fibres up. Not sure if that helps. If you use a good primer undercoat and sand with a medium grit sandpaper, that should help. You can do a few coats too if necessary, sanding a little between.
