    I've cut some different wall paper patterns already for the difficult areas so there shouldn't be much of a problem slipping them in and gluing...or so I hope and thanks for the tip to leave the roof off until later.

    I think I will assemble most if not all of the dollhouse first then try to do some kind of weathered siding and figure out what I'd like to do for inside after that.

    I plan to finally begin building my Orchid house today but researching a few ways of painting certain parts first. I will post more once I get myself in gear.

    I'm not sure if this is the correct area of the forum to ask this but it relates to my Orchid build so here goes...I've seen some pictures of very nice simulated wood siding paint jobs and wondered how to get the same effect myself. What I mean is making the flat wood sides look like they are painted siding like worn white paint. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Well I've finally started my build of "The Orchid" dollhouse. I haven't really gotten very far yet. So far I've spent time removing all of the die cut pieces and labeling and bagging them (I sanded both sides of the diecut sheets first). Today I spent several hours sanding the edges of every part and will hopefully begin assembly this evening. More updates with pictures to come.

    Hobby Lobby sells the super glue I refer to in their model kit section, It's for wood and plastic.

    Super glues made for wood help greatly along with accelerator sprays that cure the glue instantly. Not advised during the whole build but helpful in certain areas I'm sure.

    Thanks Doc, I actually found those downloads yesterday when i was searching to see if there were any online forums for help with dollhouses. The instructions are a far cry better than the vague set that came with the kit.

    I've had the Orchid kit for about a year and the only reason I had not started building it was the vagueness of the instruction sweet...once I found the instructions online with the illustrations, I immediately dug the kit out of storage in a spare room in my house and started work on it...Just sanding the sheets, popping parts out, organizing, bagging and labeling but it's a start right?

    Mine was missing schematic #11 too but I found a great assembly instruction .pdf file online that includes the schematics #1-11 plus step by step assembly illustrations I hope this helps others as much as it's helped me. http://www.corona-concepts.com/instructions/Orchid-Doll-House-Instructions.pdf

    Hello, my name is Shawn, I'm 42 years old from north central Iowa. I've always had an interest in building wooden and plastic model kits and thought I'd try my hand at house miniature building as well. My current project is the Orchid kit although I haven't gotten much of a start yet. I'm hoping to learn all I can and contribute where possible.
