  1. This is a bassinet I made for a 7" baby using the dollhouse miniature faux wicker technique. I finished up the quilt for it this morning.
  2. A new member to our family

She is adorable!!! I would have taken her in a heartbeat!!! My guess would be Yorkie Maltese cross. They are small and very loveable from what I hear. I have a Yorkie cross with some other terrier, she is a charmer too!
  3. Another good reason to build minis!

I agree, I see way too many people who are always bored, couch potatoes, they have a tendency to get depressed too. We on the other hand are never bored, get excited over the "LITTLEST" things, and are generally happy people! A perfect example is the founder of our miniature club, she is 83, very active in our club plus others and is still creating all the time, she still uses power tools too!!! I want to be like her when I grow up!!!!
  4. I Wanna Be A......When I Grow Up 2/7/10

Doesn't it make you wonder how it does that?!? My first reaction when the colors came up is "how is this going to work when they didn't even include pink!!!", but it does anyway! LOL For those who are getting the math in theirs, are you using a lot of math calculations or measuring in your dollhouse/miniature making?
  5. I Wanna Be A......When I Grow Up 2/7/10

Holly, you don't have to give an email, it's optional, I didn't and it still gives you the report. The email is just if you want them to email it to you so you can keep it.
  6. I Wanna Be A......When I Grow Up 2/7/10

I imagine just about everyone here would come back with creative since we are! As for occupations, I have been a Babysitter, maker of dolls, teddy bears, dollclothes, miniatures, wallpaperer, painted murals, and sewn for people so creative would cover it! I had to laugh at the last part! "You're a PERSUADER", my family would be more apt to say a "Bossy"! I guess having a husband, six kids and all these pets over the years has made me rather "persuasive" in order to have things go the way I wanted them to. LOL Best Occupational Category You're a CREATOR Keywords Nonconforming, Impulsive, Expressive, Romantic, Intuitive, Sensitive, and Emotional These original types place a high value on aesthetic qualities and have a great need for self-expression. They enjoy working independently, being creative, using their imagination, and constantly learning something new. Fields of interest are art, drama, music, and writing or places where they can express, assemble, or implement creative ideas. CREATOR OCCUPATIONS Suggested careers are Advertising Executive, Architect, Web Designer, Creative Director, Public Relations, Fine or Commercial Artist, Interior Decorator, Lawyer, Librarian, Musician, Reporter, Art Teacher, Broadcaster, Technical Writer, English Teacher, Architect, Photographer, Medical Illustrator, Corporate Trainer, Author, Editor, Landscape Architect, Exhibit Builder, and Package Designer. CREATOR WORKPLACES Consider workplaces where you can create and improve beauty and aesthetic qualities. Unstructured, flexible organizations that allow self-expression work best with your free-spirited nature. Suggested Creator workplaces are advertising, public relations, and interior decorating firms; artistic studios, theaters and concert halls; institutions that teach crafts, universities, music, and dance schools. Other workplaces to consider are art institutes, museums, libraries, and galleries. 2nd Best Occupational Category You're a PERSUADER Keywords: Witty, Competitive, Sociable, Talkative, Ambitious, Argumentative, and Aggressive These enterprising types sell, persuade, and lead others. Positions of leadership, power, and status are usually their ultimate goal. Persuasive people like to take financial and interpersonal risks and to participate in competitive activities. They enjoy working with others inside organizations to accomplish goals and achieve economic success.
  7. "Wicker" bassinet with quilt and bumper pad/mattress

"Whatshisname"!?! LOL Holly!!! Yeah, I think she would work! Yes, I love her size to make things for too, big enough for details and not so big that it takes forever! LOL I LOVE how she feels when I hold her! The details in her resin are remarkable, she even has her nails painted realistically!!! She is soooo much cuter than her pictures!!!
  8. "Wicker" bassinet with quilt and bumper pad/mattress

Thanks Jess!!! No, Holly, Barbies are only 11 1/2", that would make her a huge baby!!! She is as long as my hand, Barbie babies are about 3" long. I have seen similar sized babies with the Tonner fashion ladies that I think are about 20". I figured at 7" she is a third of a 21" baby so I measured a real bassinet and cut it down to a third to get an idea of how big it should be. I think I may have made is shorter heightwise because I wanted it to fit in the acrylic case I have, can't remember for sure. I know it isn't an exact duplicate but I thought it looked proportional to her. :thumb:
  9. "Wicker" bassinet with quilt and bumper pad/mattress

    Sorry, double post!
  10. "Wicker" bassinet with quilt and bumper pad/mattress

Thanks Holly!!! She'd definitely be worth it!!! I would love to make her all kinds of clothes and other accessories!!! I think she needs some goodies to put on the shelf too! One of these days I will get to it! Ryanne may have more Aprils if you are interested, let me know and I can give you her contact info. She is such a sweetie, one of my favorites!!! Thanks again!!! Hugs, Barbara
  11. "Wicker" bassinet with quilt and bumper pad/mattress

Thank you Holly! Here is the baby! She is April, a resin baby made by Ryanne Hawkinson. She did a wonderful job on her!!! She has painted hair and a poseable cloth body. She has such cute legs and feet that I hate to cover them up!!! Here she is snuggled under the quilt in another bassinet I made. Here is a side view of this one. I made a couple of slight changes in this one, the main difference is the beads. I am thinking about doing the same fabric with blue background for the bumper pad on this one.

  20. Hiding Miniatures, a New Twist 1/29/10

I know exactly what you mean Tracy although I hadn't figured it out till now!!! Even before miniatures I made porcelain dolls and did the shows. My favorites were always the first to sell!!! I would go home feeling bad about it but at the same time it kept a roof over our heads and food in our bellies!!! Since starting miniatures I have had people say with all I make I must have quite a collection. Not true, I have two roomboxes and a very few other pieces that are actually done. Now I am finally making a few more things for me. My mother and baby are the first dolls I made just for me and only ones I kept other than a little doll's doll that I didn't finish dressing(same reason, I didn't want to let her go)! And yes, I have many other unfinished projects possibly for that same reason! One is a bear that I really love and haven't finished dressing and I am sure it is because in the back of my mind I knew as soon as she was she would be gone! Mary is right about repeating something too, the thrill is gone!!! There were a lot of dolls, bears, and miniature accessories that I don't have pictures of that I really loved and miss! My advice Tracy is go ahead and finish them but make sure you are working on a project to sell at the same time so you don't feel like you have to sell the one you want to keep!!! That is kind of what I am doing right now, I am working on dolls for a show and the quilt for me! Thanks for helping me figure out why I wasn't finishing some of my favorite things, now I will have to follow my own advice and finish them while I still make things to sell! The bear is staying!!! LOL Someday when you feel it is safe, I would LOVE to see what projects you have fell in LOVE with!!!
