More Minis Dollhouses

Hi everyone! I am very happy to say that my blog is back on Blogger. I found a work around to my image hosting issues with Google and the blog is now fully hosted on Blogger once more. I hated having to host my blog on Facebook. I know that caused a lot of followers to be unable to continue visiting. But, it was the only way to keep from taking down the blog all together. All articles have been updated with new information from new assemblies. I am still tweaking, updating links and making it HTML5 friendly, but there’s no more requirement to use Facebook to view it. All info can be viewed by all visitors.

I got to find one on Etsy with the help of a fellow forum member. The kit has become extremely rare. It's nowhere to be found. Hopefully, some more will eventually become available with time or Greenleaf will re-stock. Until then, they have become impossible to find!

I plan on going to the Lakeland show in June or July (forgot the date) as well. Nope, I wasn't looking for coffee, but I think I did see you! I was the one with the jeans and black knit top. Next time I am going to have a shirt made that says More Minis Dollhouses, so I more easily recognizable. If you went to Ron's then I'm sure you must have seen my husband behind the counter with him since he spent most of the time there with them. Ah, I wish we could have met, but definitely next time.

I got there at around noon. Oh my goodness, I didn't know anyone from the forum was going! I should have made a post that I was going. We hung out at Ron's table for hours. I did the free class. I found some unique items too and they were not expensive at all. We had a great time.

I noticed the site was getting a revamp and it does look great! Might have to try logging in again today or will have to create a whole new account to get in. Well worth it, I love that store.

Uh-oh, that doesn't sound very promising....:(

I'm sorry it's taken a while for me to reply, but I attended the Boca Raton Miniatures show yesterday and I was busy! Needless to say, it was fabulous. My blog is still up on blogger, but all of the assembly links go to Facebook. Unfortunately, I had to move everything to Facebook because I couldn't find a free image hosting site that permitted links to third parties anymore. Since everything is going to mobile, all of the old formats are dying off. It was a big move, but I think Facebook is here to stay, at least for a long time, so the assemblies can remain up for as long as Facebook is up.

Hi everyone! Has anyone else had trouble logging into the Greenleaf Company Store site? For some reason it doesnt recognize my username and it wont send me the email to reset my password. Very strange because I have always logged in with the same information. Anywho, what I really wanted to know was about is the Miniature Pine Mountain Village Kit. I really want to purchase this kit, but its been out of stock forever. I contacted Greenleaf to ask when it would return, but have not gotten a reply. This is the last quarter scale kit I need to complete my quarter scale dollhouse collection. I really want that tiny Orchid! I have tried to see if I could find the kit on eBay or elsewhere, but it's literally nowhere. Anyone out there has any information about it or has also inquired about it and gotten a response? I'm anxious to start quarter scale again!

I agree with this. This has been my experience with Greenleaf since I began assembling dollhouses many years ago. Greenleaf is one of the very rare companies that actually care about their customers and take pride in their products. They genuinely show concern about the products they are selling and their quality. This level of commitment to a product instead of just profits, is extremely rare nowadays. The fact that we have this wonderfully put together forum to go to, shows that they aren't just selling items, they are actually care. This is why I have always been so devoted to Greenleaf.

Thank you so much Dean! Greenleaf is the best! I dropped you a message with all of the information. I think you are right about these holes possibility having been there since before manufacturing. If it was an active infestation, you would think all the sheets would be eaten away but it's only two. The other sheets are just fine and have no holes. I see little critters crawling in and out of the holes, but they could be just making a home in the holes made by the previous beetles. These little crawling ones might not be the original ones that damaged the wood. Im going to begin sanding parts tomorrow from the good sheets and hopefully I won't see any creepy crawlies on them. It is very nice to see all of these familiar names as well!

Well, the kit has already been in my house for months so if there is going to be an infestation, it's already started! lol I'm in Florida, so I'm not really surprised by any infestation. I've seen it all and been through it all. Funny thing is that I have seen these little holes in other kits and have ignored it because they have been minor. I never even bothered to find out what caused it, but these sheets caught my attention because there were so many holes. They seem to be caused by powderpost beetles. I've seen these little bugs before, but never bothered trying to find out what they were. Good thing is they hate treated, painted, stained or wood that's been finished in any way. They only like raw wood. That's probably why I haven't seen an infestation until now.

I had thought about freezing their little butts! I just doused the wood in vinegar and tomorrow when it's dry, Ill pull the parts off and freeze them. Thank goodness it's only two sheets. The rest of the kit looks just fine.

I don't have bug spray! Would vinegar work?

Hello everyone! I am having a peculiar problem and I immediately knew that I had to come here for advice. I bought a McKinley Dollhouse kit from Overstock.com. The kit is in excellent condition, as usual. It is also not an old kit. I was doing inventory of the parts today when I noticed that two sheets of wood had these tiny holes all over it. I hope you all can see them in the photo I am attaching. They are so small, they are hard to photograph. Anyways, as I was examining and wondering what these little holes are, I see teeny tiny bugs coming out of the holes! I have never seen anything like this, in all of the years I have been assembling. Does anyone know what these can be and more importantly, what do I do about them before assembling? Are they harmful to the finished product? Thank you in advance!

Thank you all for the great suggestions. Too bad I wasn't able to get online sooner to see them. I actually went with the Mod Podge because I was able to find Mod Podge that is exclusively for adhering paper to paper. I didn't even know they had this stuff. It has been working pretty well. It's not the best thing in the world because of the quick drying time but it is not soaking the paper or causing any wrinkling or bubbling, thank goodness. Everything is turning out pretty good so far. I didn't go with wallpaper paste because its so thick that I knew it would soak my paper by the time it finished drying. Since I'm glueing wallpaper to poster board, I have to make sure the glue is very thin but still able to be spread evenly in order to avoid wrinkled wet spots.

I have another question for you guys. I am going to apply the wallpaper to poster board templates and i will be glueing those to the walls. i was wondering what glue should I use to adhere the wallpaper to the poster board. i have to make sure it doesn't over wet the poster board and end up wrinkling or warping. I was thinking of using Mod Podge. What do you all recommend?

I promised you all photos of the dollhouse when I picked it up and here it is. She is a cutie pie! She just needs some TLC.

My husband had asked Richard if they had an online dollhouse store but he said they did not. My husband was surprised by this. You would think that in this day and age, they would absolutely have an online store. I would imagine that if they did, they would have huge sales. A lot of people cant visit in person so it would be nice to be able to shop online. Thats where most people get their miniatures. I suppose that they have such a huge inventory that it might be difficult for them to run the brick and mortar store and also an online store. Its really sad that they might not be there someday. It's so much fun to walk into an actual store and look around. They seem to have the same assembled dollhouses available as they did last time I was there so I don't think they sold off anything large since then.

I have to say, you can lose all of your money in Ron's store! LOL I had such a good time. I couldnt make up my mind what I wanted to buy so I kept picking things up, putting them back, picking up something else. I finally settled on some tiny dolls for the BH nursery. I just LOVE little dolls. My husband spoke with Ron and Richard for a very long time, I was too busy drooling and from what I heard, they plan on keeping the store for another 2 years. After that, they aren't sure what they are going to do with it. I felt a little sad when I heard that. I REALLY hope they find someone to continue with it. Thanks so much for the tip Lawanda!

Well, I told her the wiring would have to go but that there are battery operated lighting fixtures so that the dollhouse can look as if it was wired without the hassle. She is on a budget so I don't want to add any expenses for fancy stuff to her. Basically with the tips I have gotten on here so far, a trip to the Dollar Tree will be suffice with the materials I need. I decided to go head and use templates for everything, flooring, ceilings and wallpaper. I am only going to remove the carpet. This will save time and labor. I am going to apply all new finishes to the dollhouse using this method. The current wallpaper is stuck on there really well, its just improperly applied so it will be fine to place a template right over it. The wood veneer flooring is buckled in certain areas but its so tightly glued to the floors that its almost a very thin laminate. It will not bulk up a template placed over it. Then I will frame everything out with nice molding and none will be the wiser that there were finishes underneath. Awesome! I already told her I would accept the project so as soon as I go pick up the dollhouse, I will have picture up on my blog. I will blog the rehab in case anyone is interested. Now, I am off to Ron's Miniatures....lol Nothing like a road trip in the rain!

Thank you Holly! The dollhouse has three floors. Two of them appear to be wood veneer. Its in bad shape though. Very rough and buckled. One of the floors is carpet, which would be easy to lift off. There is electric underneath them. Its completely damaged though. The AC adapter has been cut off and its ancient. The little wall plates, where you would plug fixtures to, are crusted in paint. I told her that I didn't think the wiring was salvageable and I don't want to take on a re-wiring project so she told me she didn't care for it. It could go, so thankfully that won't be an issue. Using index cards to template the walls is genius! Awesome tip because that will make life so much easier for me since the windows have custom window treatments glued on and I don't want to rip them apart in order to remove the inside frames for proper wallpapering. If I can get the wallpaper around them it would be great.

Hi everyone! I know I've been away forever but I'm finally, slowly getting back to the swing of things. Inhale a neighbor who has a custom built dollhouse. Its basically a dollhouse made from all of the Housework components. Its very dear to her because a man she had been taking care of, she used to be a nurse, gifted it to her. Its in really good shape but whoever she hired to finish the interior, did a lousy job. You can tell that they didn't know much about Dollhouses. It looks a little rough. The wallpaper doesn't line up in the corners and the floors are buckled in certain areas and not sanded or varnished properly. She wants me to help her get it into a nice condition but I have zero experience with rehabs and very little time. I have some projects of my own in the back burner that I wanted to get started but she's such a nice person, a cancer survivor, and the dollhouse is pretty small. She told me she understood I don't do this type of work anymore but she was willing to pay me and I could take all the time I needed. I'm certainly not going to charge her. I actually have left over material but I'm worried about how hard it will be and time consuming. For rehabbers out there, how can I easily apply new wallpaper to this dollhouse without making a mess of it or tearing my hair out? Any tips will be appreciated.

Hi everyone! I know I have been MIA on the forum and unfortunately, with my projects as well. I just wanted to post a quick update, so you guys don't think I have forgotten the forum or dollhouses (never!), Me and my husband have been going through a health related ordeal now for about three to four years. My husband's health had been declining significantly and we had gotten no answers as to what was going on. We have been from one specialist to another, all the way to the Mayo Clinic for help, with no avail. My husband is head strong though and he did his own research online, which took him a year to complete. He recently asked for specific blood tests to be performed and we finally have a diagnosis. A Typical Celiac Disease. The disease has progressed beyond the intestines and is affecting him neurologically. For this reason, they were unable to pinpoint what was going on since Celiac is commonly manifested through GI symptoms, which he hardly had. This is the reason why I have been MIA, on and off, on the forum and on my blog as well. It's still going to be a few months before I am able to be 100% back since my husband has to go through several invasive procedures in order for us to know the extent of the damage and the prognosis. He's had this illness for many years, unknowingly, but started having severe symptoms about four years ago. During that time he's had to go on disability, sleep with a CPap machine, has had vascular issues, neurological issues and even psychological issues. It was really going downhill for him. So even though we have bettered our health over all, through diet and exercise, we have this illness to contend with now. Though we are devastated with the diagnosis, at least we now have answers as to what was going on and we can do something about it. Sorry for the long post! I just wanted to know I miss you guys, the forum, my miniatures and working on dollhouses and I will not be gone forever!
