Bummer! I only had a few hours to get to and from Chicago on Saturday. I wondered why I didn't see you! I didn't have time to get to 3BM :-(

Great tutorial! I might even try my hand at the embossing. Thanks for the link.

The leather I'm using is from a leather jacket my husband donated to my cause.

I'm trying to make a sofa with clean lines but the only way I can seem to avoid bulk it to butt the edges of the leather up to one another. Now I have raw edges showing. It's not bad, but it still bugs me.

I'm trying to cover a sofa in leather. Has anyone successfully upholstered with leather without having lumps from turning the edges under?

I'm looking for tips on selling at miniature shows. Gonzo has given me some great ones, but I've only been to a few shows and was so engrossed in looking at the merchandise that I never really paid attention to what goes into selling at one. Details such as how much change to have on hand, what are the best kind of price tags to use, what kind of table covering to use-plastic, paper, fabric? How to display accessories all on a tiny budget. I welcome any ideas anyone may have!

I can't count how many times, I have cut myself, drilled a hole in my finger with a mini drill of how many splinters I have gotten doing this hobby. I nearly cut my thumb off with a mini table saw. Just because it's small doesn't mean it's not dangerous!

Has anyone ever been to the Indianapolis miniatures show put on by the Museum or Miniatures? I'm thinking of doing the show, however I'm a little nervous as to whether or not modern or midcentury modern items will sell...Any thoughts?

There are man y wonderful battery operated lights out there now. I also saw some battery operated mini outlets on Ebay the other day. Evans Design has some really great battery operated wiring kits with video instructions.

I use bamboo floor mats. The wood is about 1/16" thick and can be cut pretty easily. They are cheap and yo can get a lot of it!

I enjoyed meeting all of you! i'm glad we were able to get together! Funny how our interests rub off on our spouses! Bob likes to build furniture but not to decorate.

Yes, Brae these are the plugs or outlets I was talking about. I would definitely have to hide them. I know approximately where I want to put them and how to put them in. I want to use them in conjunction with some can lights that will be permanently wired. I just thought it would be easier to change out the lights without going to all the trouble of doing tape wire. Thoughts?
BTW Cyd, I like the furniture and other items in you Esty shop!
Thanks!
From what I can tell, the best way to be able to change lighting and such, should be learned through Brae. Ha! With round wire, make sure to get extra length of wire, shrinky tubes or electrical tape. To get them all to the plug/switch, you have to be able to lengthen the wires. Making all the "messy connections" outside the house, also helps. (See Brae's Artist Loft) And put all your flooring on templates and don't permanently affix them. there are specific bulbs that are changeable, too, and ones that aren't, so check for those when installing your fixtures.
You're right, should have just gone directly to the source!

Harbor Freigh Tools had a wonderful electric mini chop/Mitre saw for around $30.00. They usually have 20% off coupon so you can get it for around $20.00. It's very accurate and you can make the same cut over and over. I found that my Easy Cutter isn't nearly as accurate and actually costs more.

Hi,
I'm getting to a point of wiring my dollhouse. I want to be able to easily change my lighting and want to use round wires. I'm thinking of just wiring the house with those little plugs that come with wiring kits. Has anyone wired their house like that? If so, are there any suggestions? I really don't want to use tape wiring.

There is a website called Spoonflower where you can design and make your own fabric. They may even have some Beatles fabric, you might also try Etsy or Ebay. It sounds like a fun project. Please be sure to post pictures!
