So you just need a little nudge?  NUDGE!!!!!  I have those windows and doors in my stash for a kit bash of one or two of my houses.  I have found, since they have more than one of each, make an offer for the whole set at a low(er) price.  Many sellers will take the offer rather than sell off piece by piece.

I know a few members are looking for these discontinued Houseworks windows.  The same seller has the single and double sets for sale and with "make an offer" option.

I only see the one chair made for Sonia Messer.  The rest are mostly Chrysnbon and Concord items, including the furniture - granted some are the Concord Museum collection.  But still seems way over priced IMO.

Dura-Craft VH600 Victorian with Tower!  Low starting bid - $34.00, but has a reserve.  Shipping is only $20!  I would be tempted to keep watching this auction, but my stash is big enough!
  6. New Orleans lost one of its historic mansions this week due to fire.  It was a definite beauty and would give much inspiration to our minis!  I was lucky to tour the home a few years ago on a holiday home tour.  With 8785 Sq Ft, the mansion was originally designed by Henry Howard and built in the 1860s.  It was later "updated" in the 1880s with designs from Thomas Sully. The family who has owned the house over 111 years, says they will rebuild. It has a rich New Orleans history, and so sad to see this happen. But at least everyone, including the pet were able to get out unharmed.
  7. Loss of St. Charles Ave New Orleans Mansion

Yes, I have been there!  Mobile has some beautiful mansions! So this shows how the family is taking the loss in stride.  Humor really helps.  The house was still toasted by Krewe of Rex as usual on Mardi Gras.

There are a few Arrow Dollhouse kits on eBay at the moment.  I know a few members are searching for them from time to time. Colonial: Big Dream: Victoria: Country Home:

This is a Skilcraft kit house. The siding is plastic sheets and has paper shingles. But a nice sturdy house of 1/4" plywood. Like you said, can tell it was loved.
  10. What's everyone working on?

Does anyone else have this problem I keep having with inserting the small grommets in the tape wire, they wedge themselves on the pilot punch and will not go into the hole?  I ordered from Cir-Kit their awl to see if that will help the issue.  It is driving me nuts trying to wire the Vineyard.  I keep watching you tube videos on wiring to see if I am doing something wrong.

These two keep popping up when I search Craigslist.  Ugh, as I have said before, someone would be unhappy with me bringing another house into our house! Granville $200 OBO.  It's been there a long while so that OBO might be a way to go!   This is interesting Willowcrest, as I thought at first it was built to look like this, but after reading more, it is what happened to it after it sat in the floodwaters.
  13. Hi Nan, I am guessing from Holly's reference, that Dura-Craft used the same building technique (I've never built a DC kit).  I also know that Plaid Enterprises used the same building technique as well from their plan books.  If you can get the panels from the Dura-Craft person on eBay, that might be an option.  One option, since you have a friend who does work with plywood, you could buy the clapboard panels, and with the plywood, match them with the thickness of the original walls.  I believe the walls are 1/4" thick, so with a 1/16" siding sheet you could use 3/16" plywood (1/16" + 3/16" = 1/4").  I hope this makes sense! Also, watch on eBay, from time to time a kit does show up (mine came from eBay).  Right now there is a room addition kit out there that might work to fill in missing pieces - but it is a bit pricey IMO.  I am here to help and I know so many other people here will too!  We love to watch new builds and be updated on progress.  I badly need to get back to my Cape May, but real life house projects seem to be taking up my time, and then I am also working on the Vineyard Cottage. Matt
  14. Hi Nan! You have a great house there, even in the London blitz condition.  Model Homes kits were/are great houses to build and rehab.  The construction techniques is individual milled clapboard panels 3" high, and cut to specific lengths for the house.  You would stack them via tongue and groove edges, and then insert the completed panels into the grooved corner posts.  I am currently building the Cape May model and have two more of their kits, including the add-a-room kit, in my stash.  As you said, there is a floor plan and exterior photos, but no interior photos in the instructions. Feel free to ask questions on the kit as you rebuild/deconstruct it.  I learned a lot in building mine on this style of kit build. Have fun rehabbing and welcome to the forum! Matt
  15. Model Home kit

Hi Patricia, I am currently building the Cape May and have two of the San Francisco kits in my stash.  I'm not sure which one the #1004 is, but neither of my kits have plastic or glass for the windows.  They have the wood to build the windows, but no inserts for the glass.  I upgraded my windows to pre-built ones from Miniature House, in the Cape May and will do the same when I build the SF models. This one is a custom made house, but Dura Craft  did a kit on the same CA house.  It was called the Alexandria and shows up from time to time on eBay.  There are also plans for this house in 1/6 (Barbie) scale for sale on eBay.
  17. Anyone ever use the latex flooring sheets?

I used latex brick sheets (in half scale) for the exterior of my Victoriana bash.  There were the regular running bond pattern and have black mortar lines.  I used E6000 glue on them and they have held up perfect.  Especially considering they are on a vertical surface.  I think this would work on the cardstock  and weighing them down while drying.

HA!  I already have this house in my stash.  So I won't be buying it, but the Skil-Craft kits are good quality, so this is a good bargain (at least when I posted the link).  I think I need to reciprocate my dollhouse stash to you!  I have already been told I am a hoarder, so have been trying to build and go through my things!

This makes me smile.  I have bought a few things from a member on this forum off eBay.  I have left positive feedback all three time and been so happy with my purchases.  But have not had her reciprocate.  After 3 times, I am done.  If the seller does not feel it is necessary to give positive feedback to a buyer on sites,  I have no issue to no longer purchase ever again.  Lost revenue and customer.   This is not an issue of waiting for a few weeks for feedback, I am talking over 6+ months.  Done.  So sad that customer service lacks and they don't understand that is is costing them future sales.

Love these ideas!  I will have to keep this in mind.
