  3. I completely disagree! Each house has its own challenges and is different. I build the house first, add the siding, trim, and shingles. Then I attack the interior by priming, wiring and then wallpaper. Then windows are glued in place and then the window trim on the interior is added. Each of us have our own way of building and decorating. It is part of the hobby to figure out what is best for you and the house. Some areas of houses do need some decorating prior to assembly because they are difficult to reach. This is why dry fitting of the kit is best before gluing to acknowledge the challenging areas.

  7. That is a Concord Miniatures piece. Concord was in business during the 70s and early 80s and had two lines of furniture. Their Museum line was a really nice quality and some pieces sell on eBay from anywhere from $10 to $75 or more. I believe yours is of the museum line.

  9. With LED lights, it will probably not be an issue. Most LEDs have such a long life, they will outlive most of us 🤪 But, I understand where you are coming from. I still use grain of wheat and rice bulbs in 1" scale, so have to think about that issue. It's more difficult in half scale to make a fixture removeable. Maybe those with more half scale experience will chime in. I have only built 3 half scale house and rarely turn on the lights. But in one, a bulb is out, and aside from ripping up the floor above, it is staying burned out.
  10. Good Resource Emily! I forgot about Lighting Bug and Jim Pounder. I have a couple of each of their fixtures as well. They also occasionally come up on eBay as well. You just need to compare to the websites, eBay is not always a bargain.

  12. Ray Stoery lighting comes up from time to time on eBay. Two of his chandeliers were on auction ending last week. I have a generic searches set up for chandeliers, sconces, and lighting. Several of the Krummerow's lamps will show up. One is listed now. Usually you can find all kinds of crystal chandeliers made by various artists that are of Ray Stoey quality. It just takes some time and patience for them to appear.
  13. Moving this back to the top of the forum. I missed out on getting one of the house kits as the seller did not see this post 😞
  14. I sold my Willowcrest a couple of months ago, the instructions went with it.

  16. I used Classics brand windows in my Garfield. For the top story of the I used the attic windows and the others were the narrow Victorian windows. They worked well and the gaps were covered by the siding on the outside and interior trim on the inside.

  19. EDIT2: HA! AH! i purchased mine about a year ago and paid MUCH less than that. I hate it when sellers think they have a gold mine.
  20. Thanks! It is nice to be feeling good again and energized to get busy on my minis! I was just reading on the last post. The house is going to be a beauty. As far as the First Lady, I haven't touched it in months. I started painting it, and didn't like the direction it was going. I decided to put it aside and let it talk to me and me rethink what I would like to see. I started on working on my New Orleans Shotgun Houses. I purchased off eBay two assembled 4 inch deep room boxes with porches on the front. I started to bash them to look like Shotgun Houses of different styles. I have some pictures, but haven't started an album yet. Those are the ones I will get back to work on.
  21. I have this kit, so if you, or anyone else on the forum purchases the kit, I can supply the instructions!

  23. Hey Everyone, I am finally back and excited about things I am reading and seeing on the forum. I have been out of service since September with some health issues and just general life being crazy. But finally back on track and hope to get back working in my Minis. I do own an apology to havanaholly! She and her husband came to New Orleans, and I had planned on meeting them. Then I vanished. I am truly sorry Holly! That was the start of things going downhill and I was unavailable to many friends. I have Crohn's Disease, and after a 10 year remission, it came back full force and took me down several days. Recovery from that, dealing with work, and life in general kept me from doing many things I normally would have. So now I am looking forward to the rest of the holidays to relax and just enjoy life! It looks to be a busy few months for me, all in hopes I continue to feel better. Glad to be back and on track again. I look forward to catching up on things here, on Emily's blog, and the others I read! Matt
  24. Holly is correct. To Find Dura-craft Kits, check eBay, etsy, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Mercari, and Craigslist. On eBay, you can find the instructions from time to time if the house is repairable. Most damaged house are repairable. I fixed a Garfied that was completely crushed through the roof/attic to the 2nd floor. All fixable. The Garfield is in my galleries and I bet you can't see the damage. Matt
