  1. I'm so glad to hear you're making progress with the dormers. You can do it!!!! :jump:
  2. Oops! I see now the instruction isn't specifically about the dormers. I'll look for more guidance and see what I can find!
  3. I haven't gotten that far yet, so I'm sorry I can't help, but I can tell you that you're not alone in being confused/ frustrated by the BH dormers. A lot of people have had troubles with them!!!! It's a very challenging house, isn't it? But once you build a BH, you can build anything. ;) Here's a direct link to Gina's dormer photos and guidance: http://moreminis.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-beacon-hill-dollhouse-revisited_91.html#.VQen8YE8KK0
  4. Well, Holly, that's you. Gina would like to try it, so she's asking for help. I think Selkie's suggestion of asking local woodworkers is an excellent idea! I also know that you can get custom acrylic boxes made for houses for not too high of a cost. I'm not sure one would keep all of the moisture out, but you could ask someone who makes them. Perhaps you could ask someone like Kreative Acrylics? http://www.kreativeacrylics.com/
  5. Those are fantastic! I love them! Thank you for sharing.
  6. Mine are wonky if you look REALLY closely, but for the most part, they look OK. Haha! Just remember that when the whole house is done (alllll of that trim everywhere!!), no one is going to zoom in on those specific pieces of the porch and gasp with horror, I promise!!!!! I just tried to get them relatively even and let them dry like that. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! But also, I know how frustrating the BH porch can be!!!!!! So here I am with you on that one:
  7. Nutti, I'm not quite ready to share yet. I need to make sure the plan will work hahaha!! But rest assured you will know soon! I also loooove the Willowcrest. I haunted eBay for years trying to get one before they came back to the Greenleaf store, and then I snapped one up! :woohoo:
  8. This looks fantastic!!!!! Great job. :)
  9. I'm VERY excited to see this happen!!!!! I'm currently sorting out a plan in my brain for the Willowcrest that has been under my bed for years and years. It will be fun to watch you get going!!
  10. You are wise to try many different designs to see which one you like best!
  11. I have a completely warped and separating foam core roof right now because I didn't know this, either, so we are learning together. Don't feel bad -- this is how we learn and develop new skills.
  12. Hahaha!! Selkie, your Ollie stories are so funny! Ollie will be doing everything he can to avoid her for a loooong time.
  13. You can read the whole story here: http://www.talesfromclarkstreet.blogspot.com/2015/03/svetlana-wee-widower-chaser.html :jump:
  14. There have been some recent developments with Ollie that he's NOT happy about, of course. But I am!!!!!!! I'll leave you to wonder what that could possibly mean until I have time to post pix tomorrow... Hee hee! ;)
  15. I'm excited to see what you all have planned!! Beacon Hills everywhere and in every color!!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!!!
  16. When I was first thinking about my BH colors, I started doing google searches for "painted lady house" or "Victorian house" or "Victorian gingerbread" or things like that. Then I just scanned through the images for hours. It took a long time to figure out what I wanted, so take your time. That's a lot of trim to repaint if you don't like the colors you choose!!
  17. Aw, you're so sweet Colleen!! I love the colors on your house, and you're doing a fantastic job!! And I shall give credit where credit is due, too. I got my color scheme from a woman named Rebecca Brandewyne who made a San Franciscan in the same colors! So I was influenced by her, and she is influencing you, too. Here is her beautiful house: http://www.brandewyne.com/weblog/2006/06/dollhouse-part-3.html Mine will NOT look as good as hers, but that is OK! It's all about having FUN and trying to NOT judge ourselves. Although I'm super guilty of judging my own builds all the time. I really need to stop doing that.
  18. OH BOY OH BOY!!!!! I'm going to save this to look at later. I'm failing miserably at focusing on Real Life work, but I'm going to try. ;)
  19. Isn't it so funny how our dollhouses seem so small to us and then our cats can go in, turn around, lay down, and maybe fit in like 5 of their friends?
  20. Pretty kitty!!!!!! And so helpful!
  21. I'm bumping this up to remind anyone who was still interested. We still have openings if you want to come!
  22. The Petite Properties furniture kits are made from a kind of paper board, and they're VERY sturdy. The ones I've felt/worked on have felt like wood. http://www.petitepropertiesltd.com/onlineshop/If you get one, I'd love to see you build it!
