That doll will make a fantastic Fern, plus when don't you deserve a fun new mini?

This is an awesome idea! And could save a trip to the store for fabric.

Oooh, I love both those stairs, but the ones from the Country Cottage especially. I am definitely going to have to give that a serious thought!

Thanks for the links, guys! Now the only problem is which to choose.

I'm (slowly) building my Orchid kit. I love the kit, but I'm beginning to realize just how tiny it is! This in and of itself isn't a problem since I don't have room for a bigger house (yet!), but it means I have to be a little more careful with space usage. So my question is: do you have any secrets for stairs in small dollhouses? I'm not totally tied down to the idea of using them, but I'm having trouble getting over the idea that the mini people would be rather disoriented if they ended up on the second floor stairless! I know that Pepper of MitchyMooMiniatures put in some modern, backless steps for her shop to add the illusion of space. http://mitchymoominiatures.blogspot.com/2012/04/just-chillin.html , but do you have any other inspiration?

Contemporary house/furniture resources ?

I love that too. I'm also partial to the counter-top stove thingies...but I have a serious case of diy going on. I wonder if you could make one yourself? http://www.minismodernas.es/miniatures-kitchen/product418 -

You should check out http://www.minismodernas.es/ . Their site is in Spanish, but it's simple enough that you'll be able to follow with Google Translate. I'm not sure if they ship to the US, but they're great inspiration either way. -

I think there's also a way to transfer printed stuff to transparent liquid clay. It'll end up three dimensional and kind of shiny, but this would be awesome for stained glass windows, I think... Bookmarked your link too.

I'm building the Orchid kit, and since it's such a small house, I'm going to decorate it like a modern efficiency apartment. For flooring on both stories, I'm going for a painted concrete look. Right now, I'm thinking I'd paint on the base coat over the primer, add the highlights, and then cover with a wash of the base color. (I'm using acrylic paint.) Have you ever done painted floors, and if so, do you have any tips/tricks?

I love your bash! I've yet to try one of these, but they look like so much fun. I know Hobby Lobby has some cabinets, but they're $3 or $4 a piece. And probably a lesser quality--the ones I bought are pretty rough.
