Night with the Fairies
This year for the first time I submitted an entry for the HBS Creatin' Contest 2021.
Concept:
A child's lost 1:12 scale dollhouse becomes the home and mask shop of an enterprising 1:24 scale fairy. The “bones” of the contest kit made me think of old Bliss houses and the concept of a mixed-scales build developed from there. I redesigned the structure based on kit. The exterior “Bliss” inspired artwork was designed and hand colored by me, applied to the structure and then aged in place. Interior mixed scales are 1:1, 1:12, and 1:24.
The story:
When young Bonnie was called away from her playtime, the dollhouse became lost and could not find her. It waited where she had tucked it out of sight. It waited through the seasons, the winter rains and the long heat. It waited through the wasps who built nests and raised their broods, and it sheltered the snails who sought its cool interior and the mushrooms that sprouted in the semi-darkness. It waited until it found the fairy Lydia, and then it welcomed her to make her home within.
The invitation on Lydia's vanity read “Your presence is requested for a Pleasure Ball.” A Pleasure Ball! Lydia made dozens of masks for other revelers to wear to the ball. Soon they would arrive in her shop to choose their perfect disguises. Soon she would change into her floral finery and join them for the festivities at the Night with the Fairies pleasure ball!

Chanticleer
I'm slightly bashing a 1:24 scale Chantilly into a witch house. Nothing dark or sinister...this will be the home of a kindly witch.

No. 1 Tennyson Place, 1:24 scale
No. 1 Tennyson Place is finished! This 1:24 house is a one-of-a-kind bash based on a Greenleaf Tennyson kit that I started several years ago. Then life happened, and it was wrapped in plastic and put on a shelf.
I was finally motivated and have the time to finish the project. My vision was to turn it into a San Francisco row house with an eclectic vibe. The wallpapers are scrapbook paper designs inspired by William Morris. The house is full of color and I thought it might make an interesting piano bar, or maybe a home with a bohemian flair.

Lapin Lavande
This is a half scale 1:24 kit made by Shannon at Red Cottage Miniatures. She designed the kit as front opening but I wanted it open in the back, so I’m changing a few things. I’m working on several things right now but there will be more progress on this build soon.

Maison Ginny
The layout of this house strongly reminded me of the interior of my childhood best friend's home. Her mother was an artist with a bohemian flair, and this build is inspired by those memories.
This project is a 1:24 scale lasercut kit called the Hill View Victorian Cottage made by Red Cottage Miniatures.

Moonlight Retreat — 1:24 scale Lighthouse Reimagined
This 1:24 (half scale) project will be a tree house. I'm using a 1:24 Greenleaf Lighthouse as the bones of the redwood that has become home to some forest creatures and a special character resident.

Gingerbread Buttercup
Over the holidays I finally started working on a half scale Gingerbread House using the Buttercup as a base. I know I’ll continue to add to this house (are they ever really finished?) but I thought I’d post some photos before I put it away until next year.
I made many of the toys for this project and used many of the ones I got from last years's half scale Yahoo group swap.
