  1. I have one of these .............. pretty well finished .................... apart from internal decor, lighting and filling of holes outside lol ................... it's a halfscale house, very easy to build ...the staircase is the only thing I'll change ............. unless I turn it into an art gallery instead of a house that is. Ellen :-)
  2. tomorrow! (sorry couldn't resist) Fish and ................ Ellen x
  3. Those of us who are both impatient and inept use a lot of superglue .............. to keep it from drying up whilst working pour a little into a pistacchio nut shell ..apply with a toothpick...............it stays workable for ages. Another use for superglue ........ the gel stuff is far better to manage than the cheepie pound shop version, but if you put a little blob of the cheap stuff on a polythene bag and apply, again, with a toothpick, it seems to behave like the gel .................. as we get 10 tubes of the cheap stuff for a Pound it doesn't matter how often I resort to it! .........sane people evidently wait until their carefully clamped and glued stuff has time to dry before moving on to the next phase! .... for the rest of us superglue is the way to go ............... I alternate it with wood glue, for long term strength, when assembling houses, but there are never enough hours in my day for all that waiting! Ellen
  4. I have a very basic tutorial on the forum part of my website for round wiring. I chnaged to round wiring after getting frustrated at having to continually rip out wallpaper to repair tape wiring runs in my older houses ....hence I have none that are actaully complete! This is the link http://www.abigailsforum.co.uk/ Ellen
  5. Congratulations!!!! I've been wondering how many hours a day I'd need to spend here to catch up lol Ellen xx
  6. Glad I'm not the only one. I have two almost built shells to paint, decorate and light before Christmas!!!! Trying to fit in time between one full time job, one part time job and a small business "helped" by a house husband who doesn't house!! eeeeeeek Ellen xx
  7. dollshouse (lol no wonder it springs to mind i have two to do before Santa delivers them!) Ellen
  8. I haven't started to build any new kits, even though my fingers are itching to start the White Orchid. We have to move house soon after Christmas and I have a nasty feeling that we will have to downsize, so don't want to add to the obvious dollshouse collection!!! Flatpacked kits are somewhat easier to pack into boxes without generating too much interest lol Ellen
  9. Apart from minis I make porcelain dolls, dollshouse and big (neither well, but I'm working on it!), machine knit, make greetings cards and am currently playing at painting ceramics ......................just need a small lottery win so that I can play full time lol Ellen
  10. <<A child with good study habits will do well in classes no matter what school (with good family support)>> I think that was the point I was trying to make ................ I thrived in a well disciplined environment, but lacked the self-motivation to push myself along. The first school I attended expected us to work and provided the environment to do so, the second was far more lax and, like many teenage girls, I wasn't about to do more than they evidently expected. Added to the fact they they had a nasty bullying problem. I already had the "wrong" accent and was always terrified of standing out from the crowd .......... results were often painful. I was 37 before I made it to college! Ellen
  11. I went to an all girls Grammar school, where the emphasis was on hard work, discipline and achievement. When was 14 my parents moved us to a new area where the only school available was the local mixed sex school. My education took a battering from there on in ................ like many teenage girls I was far more interested in chatting to the boys, than in paying attention. Given a choice I would send my own girls to a single sex school ............. they can socialise out of school Ellen
  12. I scored 61, but refuse to believe I have a problem ............... lots of work, making great friends, finding masses of tutorials and information and doing great shopping, but no problem (eeeek isn't that what addicts always say?) Ellen :thumb:
  13. lol I'm even further out of my depth than usual ............ I was going to ask what sort of glue grip is, assuming it's a trade name that we won't be able to get here? Now I'm wondering whether superglue might be the answer lol Ellen :thumb:
