The Haunted Heritage
I grew up in an old white farmhouse that probably looked pretty creepy to others, but I loved it. It was way too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer and had generally outdated decor and musty upstairs rooms. But, it was my first home and even though it no longer stands, I love it still.
I bought a Dura-Craft Heritage kit sometime ago when I found a good deal on a kit in near perfect condition. I find it interesting that the few pieces broken in the Heritage kit I can replace with pieces I already have from the lost Dura-Craft kit I had a long time ago. Perhaps meant to be...
I have no idea where this project will end up, and I rather like that open energy. I see in my head an old white farmhouse...not completely dilapidated but in a state that might make you pause to enter...but with a warm albeit old and perhaps historically creepy interior.

That is the heartfelt mission of Ye Olde Taxidermist, though the shop also caters to naturalists by preserving fine animal and bird specimens for posterity. Otter Cove - Creatin' Contest 2015
Restful waterfront living is yours to be had at Otter Cove. The luxury of an off-the-beaten-path getaway awaits with its picturesque views and creature comforts. Enjoy a walk along the extensive beaches or through the guided trails along the coast. If the weather is warm, take a nap or read a book on the patio. If the weather is cool, warm up inside by the fire as you listen to music and let your cares fall away. Make your reservations soon! We'll leave the lava lamp on for you.
--------
I mentioned previously that I had two ideas when I first bought the HBS kit Denise's City Cottage, one of which was a barn find that turned into Milo Valley Farm. I had nixed that idea for the contest since I needed to change the kit so much it seemed it might be better suited to a different kit. I tried a few layouts for furnishings and even contemplated adding a lower floor, but nothing worked for me until I tipped it over.
The rafters reminded me of a wall of windows, so I ran with that idea.

The Brownstone
A Tudor inspired row house made from the Golden Gate View kit by American Craft Products.
The back story for The Brownstone is that it is the home of a world traveler. I toyed with the idea that this occupant is the grandson of The Haunted Heritage's grandma, and it stuck. :D Our world traveler likely won't have a name, but I'll have to figure out something to call him. He is a collector of interesting items and lives in an upscale neighborhood.

Spring Fling 2011 - Baxter Pointe Villa
Presenting Baxter Pointe Villa! The cottage is named after my current dwarf hamster companion, Baxter, who is now an old timer (nearly three years old) and has retired to a luxury beach cottage right on the water.
I tried to make as much as possible and used some tried and true techniques as well as diving into some new territory for me. I'm very pleased with how the build turned out overall, but I must say the aquarium is my favorite! I used the Greenleaf tutorial for it, adding my own sculpted polymer clay fish and LED lighting.
The villa is meant to be a serene place where the cares of day-to-day life just melt away. Enjoy a good book in the living room after having a good breakfast in front of the aquarium at the breakfast counter. Spend some time on the upstairs deck overlooking the ocean. After an active day bike riding on the beach, soak in the vintage tub and rest in the luxurious bedroom.
My theme is luxury beach living, and I invite you to join me for a walk on the beach at Baxter Pointe Villa!

Roland's Retreat
Inside the local Clock Tower, there's a secret room where best-sellers are written by the masterfully creative mind of Roland Sneakypants. Here he has everything he could need from a comfy bed to a modest kitchen area with snacks to a workspace.
This build was completed for a recently held mini contest by Real Good Toys called What's in Your Attic? Each participant was to purchase their ready-made attic tower top. The rules were simple -- buy at least one Attic Tower Top and furnish it with what you may find in your attic. Then there was the dangerous statement, "Use your imagination because there is no right or wrong."
