Bob's Barber Shop: HBS Creatin' Contest 2013
This project started off as a gift for my father-in-law. Unfortunately, he passed away before the end of January, and this build turned into a memorial. He had been a barber for over 30 years, and worked side by side with his wife and son in a family owned shop. I modeled the Charming Cottage to look just like our RL barber shop on the outside and then did the inside in a vintage 1920's style. There was a lot of research going into this project to get everything accurate to the time. Nearly everything was handmade because of this. So come on in, get a shave, play some checkers, and shine them shoes!

Spring Fling 2013-Loblolly-Westcott House
Presenting, my entry for the 2013 Greenleaf Spring Fling contest:
Loblolly-Westcott House.
The perfect get away, relaxation spot. Just a few steps down from the manor, is a quaint pool house, built to whisk your worries away. Come sit in one of the many lounge chairs and soak up the sun, or dip your feet in the pool. Enjoy the scent of gladiolus and fresh kept grass, along with your ice cold beverage of choice. Take to the shade on the covered deck to catch up on celebrity gossip. At night, the pool deck is lit by LED lanterns, and in the colder months, a fire creates just the right ambiance for romance and peace.
Inside, you will find a fully stocked kitchen, where you can prepare food to entertain your quests for all your numerous parties. An armoire is stocked with reading and towels and the powder room is available for changing and freshening up. Need a rinse before or after your swim? Then step on into our amazing outdoor shower. You will find clean towels, shampoo and wash, as well as a bench for any last minute shaving.
Now, I don't know about you, but after all that work, I think a cocktail and poolside lounging is in order.
I used the main kit, two sets of lattice fencing, the roof upgrade- twice, the screen door, the fancy door and the pier kit with flat top to create this building.

Modern Scene =)
When talking to Brae about her modern scene entry, she said I should do one, too. So I did. I had to do some scrounging to pull this together. I don't have many modern pieces in my already small collection. :)

Tennyson Rehab
This is the sad little Tennyson that I rescued from craigslist last month (May 2011). After the Spring Fling is done, I am going to fix her up and give her new hope. There is a LOT of hot glue to scrape out of there..... Poor little Tennyson.

Mt Ollopa Lodge:Creatin Contest 2012
This is Mt Ollopa Lodge, my entry for HBS's contest for 2012. I used the mini town loft kit to make the main construction and then scratch built the rest. It is on a 24" x 48" base or 3/4" plywood and has a combination landscape of builders foam, Great Stuff, paperclay and cardboard. The Lodge is my ode to home, my cat Apollo and to what quiet time will hopefully resemble when my kids are grown.
