  1. Usually 6 or 7 hours, but it feels like less because I toss an turn a lot - probably ought to lay off the diet dr. peppers. I am one of those people who could easily sleep till noon, given the opportunity.
  2. I love the teacup on the bed tray! Very nice touch!
  3. What a sweet little house, Ellen! The floors look fantastic and the bed looks comfy. Nice blue!
  4. Poor kitty! I'm praying her leg will heal quickly. At least she is more comfortable now, that has to help.
  5. We had a mouse in our house last spring and it produced a mental image I will be drawing upon for years. My husband was trying to corner it and it ran under the couch...so, of course, he lifts the couch and the critter climbed up the back of the couch and started running across the back of the couch straight for DH. He promptly dropped the couch and jumped back, but the kamikazi mouse kept charging. The freeze-frame that I cherish in my mind is of the little mid-air mouse jumping with all four tiny paws stretched out at my horrified husband. Priceless.
  6. I guess it would depend on how thick the mud was. I tend to keep buckets of it forever, and they do get kinda thick. I might give this a try because I really do want a lot of texture. Is spackle much different than drywall compound?
  7. CONGRATULATIONS on your baby! I'm a firm believer that pregnancy should be an accepted excuse for anything not getting done. :yikes: The highlander is an awesome house. What a deal! Looks like there are all kinds of nice goodies in that lot. Have fun with the baby and the house.
  8. They look lovely! Good luck with the sale today, I hope that just the right person comes along and falls in love with your dollhouses.
  9. Thanks for the tip. I just took a look there and it appears to be under consruction. I'll check back on it another time. :rudolph:
  10. Hey Nutti, is there a tutorial or blog that shows how to do the tissue/paint method? I know I've seen pictures of what it looks like when it is finished, but I'm not sure I've read how to do it.
  11. Hello and Welcome, Mel! :yikes:
  12. I permanently attatched my daughter's Laurel and Primrose on a long rectangular coffee table that fit it just perfectly and it is against one wall in my living room so I can watch her play with it. My Arthur is in a large nook of my bookshelf which is also in the living room. I have a couple in storage that I never really did much with and the rest I gave away. I am working on two more, and I'm not sure where they will go, yet. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get there. :yikes:
  13. Teresa, thanks for your help! If it all works, I'll just use the drywall compound that I have already and I'll keep it thin. I'm getting excited about planning this project. I appreciate the tips. :yikes:
  14. I want to have an old, rustic-looking stucco exterior on my next house. What is the best thing to use? I was thinking about just using something I already have - drywall joint compound, but then I saw that a mix is available that is made just for dollhouse stucco. Is this better? Or should I avoid these 'muds' all together and just use paperclay? Would these wetter compounds warp my wood if the dollhouse is already glued together? :yikes: Oh, and with any of these methods, should I press the outside window trim in while the exterior is wet or should I put it on first and then work around it? This is all new to me because I have only used clapboard siding before - but I think I'm ready for something more creative. :rudolph:
  15. I have to agree with the haunted house. I can really see it as a frontier homestead - just two downstairs rooms and small uspstairs. You could make it even more rustic looking by cutting the windows into squared openings instead of rounded on top. The Arthur would be good if you are wanting to do something more like a "White Lady" victorian home. Good luck!
  16. Congrats! :yikes: Orchids are wonderful! What kind of tribute is it talking about?
  17. Oh...my...gosh! :yikes: My eyes just about popped out of my head and rolled across the floor. You know, I have seen train layouts that took up an entire basement, but I have never seen a dollhouse layout before. Thanks for the link, that was truly amazing.
  18. Very, very nice! Certainly puts me in the spirit for Christmas. It looks warm and inviting, too.
  19. Hello and welcome, Tams!
  20. I thought I'd add my funny twin story: I had a friend who lived in Ft. Worth who said there was a girl who looked just like me who was dating one of the other guys living in his dorm. One day I was on the phone with him and she happened to walk by his door and he said hello to her and I heard her voice over the phone - it sounded familiar. I told him to ask her what her name was and it turned out to be one of my cousins that I hadn't seen in years. He put her on the phone and we got to have a good long chat on his dime. Talk about a small world! The funny thing is, I don't think we look alike at all!
  21. Saying a prayer for you, Irene! I hope they call you back real soon with good news.
