I haven't been able to locate a duracraft heritage kit, so I figured I would try to build one from scratch. I can't really afford to pay high dollar for a kit anyway.
There are a few things I don't like about the heritage, and there were others that I thought about doing, but there were things I didn't like about them too. So, I figured I would kind of create a bit of a Frankenstein'monster sort of build.
The heritage had a protrusion that I didn't like, where the front door was, and I always liked Victorian homes with towers, so I figured I would add a tower, which made the protrusion a bit more forwards, but that made the porch I wanted a bit... Deep.
Also, the original heritage stairs were in a terrible spot. As you can see from my pictures, I took inspiration heavily from Otterine's haunted heritage floorplan. I tried creating different wall placements, and moving around rooms, but I just kept on going back to her floorplan. I did make the room sizes a bit larger from what I can guesstimate from the kit instructions. I made the tower the same dimensions as the Real Good Toys Altamont, an 8" square.
For builders with deep builds, is my longest room at 15" to 16" too deep? Do I need an access panel like RGT's Victoria's farmhouse?
Is a 14" by 12" a good living room space, with stairs included? Would a 12" by 7" bathroom adequate? And finally, is a 7" or 8" deep porch a bit too much porch?
I have been working on this sketchup for weeks, and I am second guessing all my measurements. I've built and rebuilt this plan, maybe 15-20 times. I'd really appreciate anyone who can help me with these questions!
