  1. Side or Lamp table - still with a sloppy coat of oil on it
  2. Instead of posting to different threads thought I would just add new things here. Not all are done some are works in progress. The sofa below is based on a Stickley Brothers original still adding the tacks - cherry and goatskin
  3. I ordered a bunch of this quarter sawn cherry it is perfect for this mission furniture and easy to work with. The oil finish really pops the grain
  4. The seat cushion isn’t thick enough so the seat is too low it will be better with the springs in the seat
  5. I ordered the wrong size springs for the cushions so I reordered more just playing in the meantime sometimes I just put something together to work out the bugs. The rails on the table are too high and the oil is just slopped on in th one picture will wipe it off after it soaks in for 20 minutes - first coat https://imgur.com/rBOsxZ3 https://imgur.com/Fl9zWIS https://imgur.com/S7FvuSs https://imgur.com/sVT3j6z
  6. Essentially I need a primer on electric lights for dollhouse. What components to use, where to get them, etc. I am making some mission style table and floor lamps to go with the other furniture I am good with the parts for the body and shade but need info on what electrics and lights to use
  7. Treated and framed on the right original picture on the left Waterhouse was a member of the Pre-Raphael Brotherhood and in keeping with the mission style sentiment so I made a mission frame to match it
  8. Definitely need to try it the first one I looked at they cut the frame for the shade from cardboard and painted it to look like iron - this was in 1910
  9. if anyone is interested I found pdf versions of the books not sure if I can post them but I can email them drop me a PM The parchment paper sounds interesting I also know there are really thin mica sheets available
  10. I ordered a hard copy but will probably buy the ebook as well https://books.google.com/books?id=URHEAgAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_atb#v=onepage&q&f=false
  11. Yes the sliding one is a Stickley design I have seen photos
  12. Just playing today the first end came out a little crooked cherry as usual
  13. I sent for a pica ruler 6 to an inch and marked in halves so 12, has inches on the other side, made from metal, and only about $5 delivered thanks
  14. You’ve seen my handwriting no one would know what it was
  15. I wanted to sign my work in a distinctive way. I had a stamp made back when I made miniature knives so I cut a small piece of madrone burl about 3/8” wide and stamped my name in it. Then I filled the letter with a gold leaf pen and sanded it off when dry. By sanding on a flat surface the leaf only stays in the letters. Then a touch of linseed oil and I have a burl wood nameplate to glue on the back of my furniture. Total size is about 5/16” wide x maybe 1/8” tall. It is a bit hard to photo
  16. I think I will make them match but was still debating it What did you think of the lambskin (actually it might be goatskin) on the couch? btw - not for this set but a future one I tried laminating two pieces of madrone burl and cutting a slat from it I think it came out nice and the thickness is correct just slightly thicker than 1/32 probably about 1/24th. I am thinking if I cut them from the sheet in order and assemble them the same way it will look really sharp
  17. and the other pieces I am doing for the set a pair of tables and a pair of shelves all are from the Popular Mechanics plans from 1909-1911, all are suitable for the home workshop, and all are in the same style
  18. here's the plans for the footstool
  19. You can see it in person In a few days
  20. Even has my name but it doesn’t look like me I noticed these In the latest catalog inexpensive resin dolls that look lifelike https://www.miniatures.com/Joel-P28970.aspx
  21. waiting on the springs so I did a little matching footstool
