Having had some time at hands at home with no major renvotions going on, just sort of relaxing and enjoying that so to speak. That has given me the opportunity of mini-ing and since the Adams is the house I have that isn't emptied out and sits on the table (oh well along with the tray of the Buttercup but that is another story LOL)
Christmas was great with lots of minis which allready have made their way into the Adams filling up space and giving it a home and lived in look. We have started talking about the accessories necessary as well ;) there is always something to hunt for right?!?
Going to see what I can make myself, have a few ideas on a few tihngs, others I am going to be lazy and buy I suppose, maybe...

OK, the bathroom, that really sn't a bathroom as it is short of the actaul tub, but...
needs ships, boats and schooners to fill up a shelf along the long side in there, towels and toothbrush and those little things along with some laundry, soap bar, towel rod with towel, purr-haps a sponge as well, hmm think that is about it for now.

Then there are still a few items to go into the kitchen, what is depending on the exterior sink-table I have in mind, will see what I can do there LOL
In the living room area, there are still a few "bits and pieces" that I want to place on the shelf that goes along the gable overt the door that leads to the bathroom, I have my mind set on those lighthouse plates, those would be neat along with a lighthouse or two... Will see if I can hunt some of those down. It also needs some pet food packets, pet food dishes and some curtains as well as the fabric panels I want to use to enclose the little shelf next to the AGA, oh and there needs to be wood basket as well as a coal thingy and a mope or tall brush for the cleaning.

For the upstairs, most of the things are there, have plans for making that short wave radio to go on top of the desk, as well as cutting and rolling those blueprints of lighthouses and ships etc. A wood basket and purr-haps a rug, not sure about the rug thoguh. I warm and cozy blanket in beige, green and brown shades is a must though. There is also this little crawl space up under the attic, I am thinking fishing nets, those netted floating whatever-they-are-called-in-English, cardboard boxes and wooden boxes, oars (I have coffe stirrers to use for that) a coat rack/hangers for the warm coat, a folded knitted sweater, would love one of those beige patterned ones, (one can dream about finding these things right???)
I have a plan otherwise to make something to work otherwise, or for now.
Then we definitley need fishing gears, a creel (is that what it is called?) and I have an idea about how to make that one with scraps of leather and some sort of evenweave fabric. THen I need to make a few fishing reels as well as fishing poles. Have one but it is sort of bulky for the fishing line holders. And it would be soooo neat to have one of those old kind of diving helmets as well... Purr-haps there is some sort of action figure I can steal that from

Hmm, I am sure there will be more added to the "Must" list, but that is it for now.

We'll instead of a Broomerie, there is a seaside cottage, it is inhabited by a single fella' who is a sucker for animals in all shapes and forms, has a few living with him and take in what ever animal needs help. Right now he has a frog who needed some attention that he made a small home for, the doggies are right at home and there is a kitty or two living in the vincinty that comes round when they feel like it. I think Marw the Mole enjoys the garden as well and if I am not misstaken a seagull has taken residence up at the roof top.
Oh well, the things these houses tell us huh???
It has been a truly enjoyable experience building this, I added a little to the second storey so that it is full height and then the roof back piece is what I used for the crawl space attic, still lots to do on the interior, but the exterior is mainly together. FUN!

Not sure if you allready read the little "talk" mr Adams and me (with a small comment from Mz Storybook as well...) but today while we were pruning the fruit tree outside I heard a distinct holler from the craft room upstairs, "This is how I want to look..." So we are now talking dressing the exterior with boards instead of what I thought he wanted earlier... >sighs< Oh well... Need to get some flat "stick" boards to add.
This willl be a look that I haven't done before, fun and different. I hear talks of shades of green as well, we'll see LOL

The bed had been sanded, re-painted, added some spackle to corners etc and sanded again and the last coat of paint prior to dressing it. Really simple dressing that is as that is what I have seen on the pics from the bedrooms, nothing fancy at all... So no frills and lace....
Still have to dress the baby cot and re-paint the little wooden stool

A little trivia regarding Mrs Carl Larsson, Karin...
She designed not just fabric items but she also designed furniture and had a local carpenter make them for her and it is said that the pieces she made were really practical for their intended use but the carpenter thought them hideous so when he was "done" with them and should deliver them to their house he did so after dark as he didn't want to be known as have made these LOL, poor guy huh?!? ;)

There are a few different versions on how Karin's bed looked but as I browsed in a book with actual photos in it it showed her bed being very practical and looks a lot like a captain's bed I think it is called so I built my own version of that as it needs to fit a very confined space... It is drying now from the first coat of paint and then I need to sand it and paint again I think.
As it is white, I am thinking of how to dress it though, but am leaning towards the red checkered fabric I have as I know that was a fabric style used in this room in RL.
Pics will follow tomorrow as it is pitch dark outside now and the paint is still wet and I am trying not to touch it until it is dry ;) not an easy task which is why I am now downstairs writing this

So I just had to take a pic of the new bed... It is not the best light but still one can see the difference I think
    the old bed

    and the new bed

We are happier now I think, still need to dress it though...

We have been slowly working out the details in here, adding a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but the bed I made just didn't "do it" so to speak...
Soooo, today I ripped of the corner parts and re-did those, added a few more wood trim pieces, nothing fancy but still another layer of interest so to speak... It is drying right now so will have to wait to take more pics until tomorrow I suppose...

Well, I did get one of those parcels under the tree last year... In it there was an Adams (expected but not knowing anyhow, DH's idea of fun LOL) and a surprise Storybook cottage...
Soooo, I thought when the Adams would arrive we had agreed upon it becoming the long awaited "Broomeri" yay!!!! We had allready discussed thos long-distance so to speak, I only needed the measurments to get the broomery straw departments ready so I was really happy when it arrived from under the tree..
The other day we had a little talk, which started something like this:
Adams: Wellll, I would like to be taller
Me: Mmm, OK, we can always add to the second floor, OK with you?
    Adams: Yes, that sounds fine.
    ....
Adams: And I would like an exterior shower...
    Me: Shower >clueless< ????
Adams: Well, yesm that would be neat
Me: Ok, hmm, that could work, I can add the shower to one of the gables?
Adams, perfect, and then I would also like an exterior dishwashing thinmgy, OK?
    Me ????
Adams: Do you think anyone would do that insid ME???
Me: Ohhh, I see your point, well let me see where I could get the sink, and ummm, well these pictures ought to do, what do you think about this?
Ada;: Yes I think that ought to work really well.
Me: OK then, I will see what we can do
Adams: Oh and I would also like stair to the second floor.
Me: Ummm, OK, inside or outside version,
Adams: Not sure just yet, will let you know...
    Interrupted by a giggle...
    Adams: Shhhhhh!
More gigglin' : "Have you told her yet????"
    Adams: No, be silent!
"Ohhhhh, but I wanna' tell, I wanna'...
Adams: >sigh< Oh well, allright then..
Now the Storybook darling chimes in (sheesh I AM hearing voices...)
SB: Ohhhh, I have the perfect thing in here for Mr A-
MeZ >sighs< ummm, OK, I'll bite... What do you mean dear?
SB: You just take out the instructions and look at the sheet over the pieces of furniture, do you see it mentioning a "Captain's bed" by any chance?
    Me: Yes I do?
SB: Well, punch them out you silly thing...
    Me: OK...
Punching out, sanding, preparing, putting together and staining as well as sanding again, sealing...
    Ahhh, bliss! Looks lovley!
    Adams: Aren't you forgetting something?
SB just giggles, silly girl! She also mentions she wants a colour scheme in the lines with blueberries and milk and a darker version to complement that...
Adams: Back to me please..... Now SB you please keep silent in that box now for a while, the light is on me here, OK?
SB: Hmpf... we'll see about that won't we???...
Me: OK, so you what were you saying????
Adams: Mmmmm, I want a soft looking facade, and then a greyish roof, perhaps some wear and tear there, a nice little garden, even a kitchen garden, wooden floors, you with me so far???
Me: Mmmm.... >busy keeping records on the sketch pad<
Adams: I want small windows, with mullions, there is some attention needed to those by the owner though, look they have cracks and wear allover
Me: >great, now I am not just hearing voiced I am seeing things as well...< mmm, we can do that, and perhaps add a can of paint open outside the house as a bad reminder?
Adams: See, now you are with me! On to the floors then, dark stained and I want some dark woodwork inside as well, you know Deb had this gorgeous sandy-abondoned flair to hers??
Me: Oh yes, I do know that one, it is gorgeous in its abondoned state!
Adams: That kind of woodwork, and a heater upstairs, it is windy here.
Me: Windy? Well, hmm, perhaps it is?
    Adams: Yep, definitley is!

OK, so I have had a good rummage around for the stuff accumulated for the "what not shop" at the top floor next to the Egyptian room, and found that I only need about three or four hats and it too will be "done" ;) oops huh??? So I cut the platic mirror from a larger sheet, added that one, cleaned up the space a little and then there it was almost done as well, wow, feels a bit weird seeing one room come together...

And now on to the pet grooming area, have cleaned out the stuff I had in there and have started to prepare the shelf thingy that will hold the hair dryer, scissors, razor and other tools of the trade but this is how it looks right now:

Still needs a few more tills/cas registers though...

So today has been one of those days going in between projects as the glue/paint/whatever is needed so I think I can almost call the Egyptian room in "Her Highness" aka Gloucester done, all I need to do is to finish off those posts with the rope as well and add some small explaining cards here and there for the little people to read off...
Happy dance! Hmm, now what to do next then???? Oh take pics I suppose, but it is soooo grey here today...
    Well here are some pics:

And one without a flash to show the thingies inside the "locked" case...

So here is one of my Larsson links:
    http://runeberg.org/clarsson/

and I learnt that there supposedly is a great book with lots and lots of pics of the interior of the house and the best of it all is that our local library has it so I will have to go and borrow that real soon as I am sort of a stand still right now until I decide a few things....
  12. Anna
Well, as I had a morning meeting this morning I didn't have to leave as early as I usually so I got a few minutes extra and I used them to addign the interior trim on the windows in the girls and Karin's bedroom, no picture just yet though as it was a reallt gret and dreary morning, will have to wait till I get home later on to take a few pics, and now it is time to look into the furniture building for this room, beds, chest of drawers, cradle etc etc, oh what fun! Not to foget the tiled stove/Dutch stove I think it is called as well...

Well, since Mr LE Arthru is a very soft spoken fella' he has patiently awaited his turn to get attention, ie until latley when he really put his foot down and said "My turn!" so I have the two chairs from the show in Stockholm put together as well as that gorgeous Grandfather clock that will get some painted patterns later on when I am decorating thew whole kitchen area so that it won't get to busy etc etc
I still have to put in the floors in the house which is what is holding me up as to deal with the wall treatments as well as trims and such, but that will be tended to as well soon I hope
Well here are pics from this morning:

So today Mr LE Arthru finally showed some temperament and even stomped (well almost LOL) his foot at me when I were just going to pass up on doing some work for him... So I settled down and put together the Grandfather clock kit I now have (thanl you Heidi!! ) and it is primed and base coated, he is muttering about him wanting it to be adorned with those "foldlore" motives, but we'll see about that when the rest of things are getting in place, we want the whole scene to go together which is what I am trying to tell him but he is still muttering....

It is a gorgeous klock and the kit was a dream to work with!
This is the clock depiqtued bt Mr Larsson himself

Here are a couple of new pics of the stuff Rosalind sent me that made Her Highness purrrrrr in delight, we still have to put the pictures on the wall etc but we are still not sure as we have the front wall to consider as well....

We also still need to make small signs to "tell" about what the objects are etc, we are soooo close to have this room done, yay!
    Hugs
  16. Anna
Well, as the things I got from Rosalind is put in place in Her Highness the idea of finishing up a few pieced I have been thinking of took priority so to speak... Nothing much but it needed a coat of guilding so as the weather was working for me today I could do it outside...
I had these snake charms and I made the other thingy (can't say it in English, sceptor(?) or something like that????) out of a huge paper clip and a little piece form a turned toothpick as the handle.

    She is purrrrring in delight!
Now the quest for more cash registers/tills....

Her Highness is purring in delight right now as she has some new wonderful items in the Egyptian room.... No pics just yet as it i a bit dark to get decent pics without using the flash so that I will have to do in the morning....
Thank you ever so much Rosalind this really adds to the look!!!!

I have added a few shelves here and there in the room, those still needs things apart from the one I put up above the sarcophagues (sp???) which now holds the four much neede canopic jars... Thanks Gayle!!! I decided to go with the plain ones LOL, but otherwise it would have been in these shapes ;Imset (depicted as a human) was responsible for the liver; -Hapy (a baboon) for the lungs; -Duamutef (a jackal) for the stomach; Kebechsenef (a falcon) for the viscera of the lower body. But they really didn't turn out like I wanted them so these jars will have to do LOL

Then I have also built the counter thingy that will hold those delicate valuable items, have a few things that will go in there as well so that is still not totally finished... We are getting there though, still havea few bits and pieces to get in there but otherwise this is probably the room that is closest to being completed. (you know what I mean, as completed as it can ever be LOL)
All in all a good couple of days mini-ing...

So yesterday I got to collect the trims and mouldings I had ordered and I did indeed start cutting pieces for the bed inspired by the bed found in Carl Larsson's room and I have also painted most of the trim that will go in the other bedroom upstairs, now I will only need to find the border and/or wallpaper samples to be able to reduce those for the large bedroom...

The bed still needs its matress as well as bedding and the curtains, not sure how I am going to finish the top of this bed, will have to ponder that for a while....
    Hugs
  20. Anna
Ok, so I have been gooooooogling a while and trying to decide on whether to go with the colours Mr Carl Larsson used on his house:
This version also calls for a dark mustardy yellor door...

or stay in the traditional dark barn red and white trim....
We'll see I suppose, especially since I have the green avaliable right now  and a paint brush nearby and the windows easily reachable hubby sleeping upstairs and no need to worry about work tomorrow as the school is closed a full week for a "sporting" holiday, yay!!!!
    Hugs

  21. Anna
So, got this little trinket box throne in today's mail and Her Highness is approving of it, OK she says the Egyptian department needs a good cleaning but I claim it is just builder's dust

There are more different kinds of "thrones" like this, perhaps I need another one next to this one, sort of like "his" and "hers"???

Still awaiting some cake stands for the tea shoppe...

    Hugs
  22. Anna
Mr Arthur is soooo very nice to work with, very soft yet precise in his wishes, so today when the Spring Fling houses were throwing a hissy fit over not wanting what we had agreed upon earlier I brought him outside to start priming the walls, both inside as well as the exterior. The interior is just an off white for now, preparing the walls for the Carl Larsson theme to come...
This shows the exterior paint, the name of the colour is terracotta, but in my eyes it is one of the softer reds, sort of like Christmas red with the tiniest amount of white and green added... Oh well, we like it LOL and I will be adding the tiniest possible wood strips at even intervals when the walls are up and in place to give some interest to the wall, is it called bead board or something like that?

And here the door and a couple of windows just loosley in place( yep the colour is a bit funky here, think it has to do with the blue plastic bag that is in protecting the table and the fact that I had the sun interfering as well):

Here is the shop counter in place, still needs some cleaning though as the "glass" is really messy... I will need to make oooooodles of books to keep these shelves stocked But that will be fun!
