Hi folks, I've bought a Tennyson fully constructed dollhouse and have seen these lovely buildings with room additions. I've searched for pre-built additions (nope) and plans to DIY, but no luck. Please, does anyone have a lead on a tutorial, guide, printed plan, or similar to help me determine if creating an addition is something I could tackle? Attached is an image of what I bought. It was only $70 Canadian, so I think it's a good deal and not too expensive to risk working on. Thanks in advance, Rosemary

A miniature lady I know built me this custom house. Well, it's the RGT Queen Anne and the Newport bashed together with a ton of custom alterations. Walls taken down, windows replaced with doors, balconies extending all around, etc. I know there are a few weird things that don't match (especially the Newport side of roof needing to be peaked or something), but I love it. It's so fun. Just picked it up yesterday, so there are no accessories yet and I only just started playing with furniture, but here are pics if anyone is curious. It's giant!!! I realize it's bigger than most people's taste. Lol. It's 90x36x38. Oops. Will post pics in just a minute. Have to switch devices.- 47 replies

Hi all, I just got my Pierce, and want to make a boarding house. I think I may need to bash a Primrose on the side to get enough rooms. So.... here's what I would LIKE to do. If anyone has bashed a Pierce before and can just tell me if these things are structurally stupid ideas. 1. Bash the Primrose on to the right side (looking at it from the open back) and create an opening between them. The primrose will be the kitchen/dining area, not sure about the upper floor yet. Probably a boarder's room. 2. Add a wall where the dining room is now for another bedroom. The kitchen also becomes a bedroom. 3. Relocate the staircase against the front wall. Which would get rid of that weird little wall at the top of the stairs? 4. At the top of the stairs will be a small area with a bookcase, wall telephone and desk. Put in removable wall between stairs and right bedroom. In far left bedroom, turn bay into balcony. 5. Attic-Do something with that awkward V angle in the far left attic (Will this cause the roof to sag? Can I reinforce it?) Is the attic portion under the big roof tall enough to realistically make into rooms. And is the tower area big enough to put a child's bed and ladder to the roof in it? Thanks!

Although I have dabbled in creating miniature items most of my life, I only recently got into dollhouses. My sister gave a DuraCraft Ashley still in the box a couple of years ago and i blindly proceeded to begin construction. After about a month of trying to find permanent space to work, I ended up revamping my garage into a workshop, and then began collecting little things to create furnishings...then i discovered Pinterest!! I have so many boards and pins there, I go by jeanzblue, don't have any of my stuff, just things i like. So the more i look at other's work and bashing I have finally decided to "theme" bash the Ashley as a sorceress cottage. I also do silly little things in my garden to attract tbe Faerie folk, I truly believe that "if you build it they will come" ;-) This is where most of my mini crafting has been done until now. Recently I spent som time at my sister's and she is very heavy into quilting now, so she gave me 40 years worth of miniatures! Furniture kits, already put together pieces, critters, food and a DuraCraft San Franciscan 550 still in the box!!! I am so excited! This new project will become a wizard's castle, i have already begun cuttingup egg cartons; stones for the cottage walls and bricks for the castle! I also collect dragons and wizards and other things Faerie, and to go with the cottage and castle I have plansfor a dragon cavern. I get bored with one project at a time, so I also carve and build and create other crafty stuff. I am 62 years young and I now see myself building my miniature fantasy world for the rest of my life...

Started dry brushing on various reds, cream, and dark brown tonight, will build up a base of colour and then a final wash or two of very thin brown to tone the bricks. The stones around the doorway will be painted cream I think.© Aaron Cameron

Hi all, I am hoping that someone will be able to help me with some ideas! I am bashing a Primrose to an Orchid and need some help with the roof lines. This will be my first dollhouse kit - and of course, couldn't just stick with a standard kit. I am handy though, and have been crafting and building for close to 20 years. I've taken some pictures, so hopefully they help with thoughts and ideas. I have folded paper where I thought the roof would make sense, but am not positive on where the roof lines should end up where the Primrose juts out. And was also wondering if I should open up the attic/wall where the Orchid and Primrose meet. Any thoughts or ideas, anyone? I am also adding a dormer to the Primrose, and a full front porch to the Orchid. Not settled on an idea for the side of the house where the Primrose juts out - mainly because I'm not sure where the roof is going to end up, but I'm pretty sure I can work all that out. My two daughters and I are each building an Orchid, and they both decided on adding a Primrose to their houses as well, but those will be more standard applications. We have been working on trim for a loooong time (haven't had much time to work on it together) and are finally getting to the fun part! (though where we are going to put three dollhouses, I don't know!) El P.S. The paper folds aren't perfect, they were just folded to get a general idea. :-) And if I'm better off not adding the primrose this way, I can work with that too.

Okay, so I have been working on the Canterbury for awhile now but the ideas that keep coming are flooding my brain! I had to set it aside for awhile as all the details were becoming a little too much to handle. Working on a wine box to house my McKinley stairs to relax the old brain cells for awhile. Was thinking this morning that when a story idea would come to mind, it would keep swirling around in there until I wrote it down, then I was fine. Perhaps writing all this stuff down would have the same effect--I sure don't want to give up on the Canterbury, I love that little house! Perhaps writing it all down will stop the "detail crazies"!

Okay so there is no bathroom in my vision of the farmhouse. But the addition doesn't have a door frame. Any ideas for a relative newbie to bash this so it works and is actually joined to house and has access from both floors? The addition would become kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen first floor and bathroom second floor. Needs access on both floors to make me happy. I will be moving wall over from instruction placement and making a dining room out of the smaller room (or it may be a foyer I don't really know my decision yet on that) I just know I want the addition but don't have a clue on how to add it where it looks right. Since a lot of you have been talking about bashing to the point where I am convinced that some of you have bashing in your blood, I thought it might be fun if Greenleaf sponsored a bashing contest where everyone can display their Greenleaf alterations or Greenleaf house combos. The contest can even include houses that were already completed or non-Greenleaf houses, if the judges agree. I don't know who on the Greenleaf site runs the contests or would make this decision, but I thought I would throw the idea out there. For someone who doesn't build dollhouses, it's amazing how excited I get at the thought of bashing.

Hi, everyone Anyone ever bashed the staircase in the Brimbles Mercantile? Like make more open or something? Can the steps be made seen by a railing or maybe 'floating' steps? From pictures I seen the staircase is not supporting anything but itself, right? Can anyone should me light!!!??? THANK YOUUUUU!

Okay, guys... time to 'fess up. The reason I haven't been on for so long is because I screwed up on my first bash and I've been avoiding my dollhouse workshop every since. Here's the issue: I added on to the second floor and I cut it a little short. The Vineyard is way harder to assemble than I thought it would be and now, with the addition of the extra floor and walls, it is getting really confusing. When I started, my Dad, who is a carpenter, was helping me. Now, I'm on my own. So now, there's a gap in the floor, big enough for a doll's leg to go through. I haven't glued anything yet (it is just dry-fitted), but my saw is also broken, so cutting a new floor is out. Is there any good way to fill the gap? Is that cheating? I thought I could carpet over the floor, so it won't show, but I'm afraid that the space will weaken the structure and I plan on this being a family heirloom that will hopefully be played with for years. Any thoughts?

Last night I started punching out pieces for my Vineyard! (The Primrose part of my bash is all glued together and joined to the back wall of the Vineyard already. I cut two sets of doorways to allow entry into the side addition. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this... Eek! So many warnings about following the directions, but I can't follow them exactly because of the fact I'm bashing them together. But it is FUN!- 3 replies

Hi everyone! I've been working on my Vineyard/Primrose bash today, specifically, I'm working on extending the 2nd floor loft, so that it will become a full floor and connect with the Primrose 2nd floor. I drew up a rough layout of what I'm trying to accomplish. It isn't to scale and doesn't show the Primrose to the left or the Vineyard Balcony to the right. However, I think it shows what I'm trying to do fairly well. I actually rough cut the new floor piece already, wrestling with my bandsaw and my inability to cut straight. Finally, I stood back to admire my handiwork. I'd been cutting from the reverse side of the wood and when I flipped it over, I realized that the top side of the wood I was using has a rather large split. I coulda kicked myself! Now, I've stopped for food and inspiration, as well as the courage to cut out the floor AGAIN from a new piece of wood. Does anyone see any possible problems in my design? I'm not much of a carpenter.

Has anyone changed the windows in the tower of the Garfield? I am changing all the larger window to the Paladian Style to match the Palladian Door I have picked for the front door and I would like to have working windows on the tower as well. I was looking at using the slim windor or traditional working window and maybe adding a circlehead window to match the Palladian windows curve......any ideas??? Has anyone else changed out most of their window in their Garfield or similar house that has similar windows? If anyone has any ideas please share or pictures
