I made the three-candle centerpiece. I still need to make the plates I purchased from True2Scale and get more food for the table.- 1 comment

I'm not sure why my phone sees the lights as giant blinding blurs - they're really not that bright. This is a peek through the window at the fireplace with Christmas garland.-

I need to get a tiny spy camera that will take good interior photos. It wasn't easy trying to fit my phone in through the door to get this shot.-

I didn't have time to finish decorating my tall Christmas tree. I found this one on Etsy and it arrived just in time!- 1 comment

Jolly Old Santa Clause was my favorite childhood book, and for YEARS I've had in my head to recreate the different scenes from the book for a huge Christmas display. Some will be houses, some will be storefronts and some will be ones I hope to create from start to finish. The first scene is the one below of Mrs. Clause's kitchen. I believe I've figured out most of what I'm going to do, but I'm baffled by the column there to Santa's left. I'll be using a combination of foam core and builder's foam for the fireplace, the archways, and the floor, but I can't think of what to use to make that column. The upstairs will be converted to an entire floor rather than a loft and I'm going to use that as 2 rooms, a cookie boxing room, and pantry. Any suggestions for what to use as the column?

From the album: Room Boxes, Etc.
I spent some time making some little additions to my Christmas Gift Box: I added LED lights to the fireplace and changed the tree lights from battery pack to a button cell. It will make turning on the lights SO much easier! I also found that 3 candle piece in my stash, so I added that and a few more bits of greenery and gold baubles behind the Nativity set. If I decided to put the tea cart inside the box I will eliminate the stool to make room....but for now I just put it outside. Oh- just FYI, I do have an acrylic panel to keep the little treasures inside safe. Maybe I need to take a pic of that in place. -
Just in time for Christmas in July, I have finished building and decorating the Greenleaf Orchid as Santa's Gingerbread House. Mrs. Claus, Santa and his brother Krampus live in this house with the elves where they make toys, check the naughty and nice list, sip tea and eat cake. The house includes a study, workshop, family room and bedroom. Started building last December, now 8 months later, I was helped in making design decisions by my 4 year old daughter, who loves to play with "Gingy". We've been cranking up the music box which plays "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and eating spice drops while playing.

These were gifts for my daughters for Christmas this year! When they were growing up we always had an enormous tree-usually 10-14 ft and once the girls moved away from home, they never had a big tree like that again. SO...I decided to make these mini vignettes as a kind of reminder of those days. However, their lanterns include their current furbabies! This lantern is for my oldest daughter - and you can see her two Maine Coons-Buzz and Bean- atop the pile o' gifts!- 1 comment

I've been working on some new details for my Christmas Gift Box vignette....added lights to the tree, added a faux window, some photos on the walls (yes, that's my fam from last Christmas!) and an adorable little Nativity set! -

This little handmade Nativity came from one of the South American countries...not sure which one. A friend from church has a daughter that owns a little gift shop that sells fair trade items, and when my friend saw this teeny Nativity set in a matchbox she just thought of me! Love it! -
During a troll around the web for Christmas build inspiration, I came across this adorable Santa's Compound by Marylou Johnson. I love the Reindeer barn with elves workshop above (they have a beer keg. .. So much for no alcohol at work!) I'm sure many of you have already seen this wonderful creation but it was too cute not to share with those that haven't. https://www.thespruce.com/santas-compound-gallery-2366795

From the album: Christmas Vignette
I love these vignette boxes. I actually made a small one back in the early 90's for a baby shower gift. I had forgotten I had made it until I came across a kit on eBay. I guess I had a mini-cold back then.....now it's a full blown condition.- 2 comments

I just got a message from the Betterly's about a new magazine. They and the super sweet people at True2Scale have done a joint venture for Christmas. It's free to download, but they also included a link to buy it if you want. I'm putting in both. e-magazine purchase link I met both of these couples at Philadelphia Miniaturia last year. Wonderful people, and their work is stunning.

From the album: My Arthur: Santa's House
Aside from the utensil rack and Santa head tureen, I also found this pretty little Christmas tree decoration. It isn't completely flat, so mounting it against a wall will need some ingenuity. I love the idea of adding a new ornament each year with the date. I started with the little birdhouse with 2014 on it, and now the 2015 tree can add some more quirky fun to the interior of the Arthur. -

I'm so glad the 2015 Hallmark ornament collection is now available here in Dubai. The utensil rack is perfect for 1:12 scale. The Santa Head Tureen is too big to hold a serving for one person, but looks cute and matches the Santa Coffee Pot on the refrigerator. I haven't decided on the final kitchen layout though, the stove is on the opposite wall, way back in the room and the rack won't be seen properly. -
