After two failed attempts at a wash on the shingles, I opted to paint them. Unfortunately, since my original plan did not call for black shingles, I did not paint the underlying roof black. You can't really see with the naked eye, but taking a flash photo helps you see where to do the touch ups. I am going to put the cap on and then do a little contrasting texturing to the roof. It felt good to get something done today.© 2013 All About Miniatures, LLC

I really like this stain. It is what the builder used in my RL house. -
I found some model kits on eBay that are half scale. There is a Horseless Carriage and a Surrey. I put the links to my gallery images below. I have plans for these and have also purchased a Hansom Cab that hasn't arrived yet. All were fairly cheap, too. Now that the Hansom Cab has arrived I need to plan out a half scale Sherlock Holmes build. -

Another great eBay find. I apologize for the fuzziness. I will update it later. I have plans for this kit with my half scale Brimble or Taft. These MOD-AC model kits are great and many are half scale. I have also purchased a Hansom Cab that hasn't arrived yet, but I plan on using it in a half scale Sherlock build. -

Here is the actual horseless carriage and George Selden for the model kit I listed in this gallery. -
I was trolling around the internet during a conference call this afternoon (I know, I should have been paying attention). I found a half scale (Playmobil) craps table printable that I thought was pretty cool. The best part is that you can adjust it on your copier for quarter or one inch. http://www.millionai.../crapstable.php

My 20 year old daughter wants the two of us to create a "Beauty and the Beast" castle in half or quarter scale. (see picture one and picture two) Do any of you small scale experts know of a castle kit that can be bashed? Maybe there is another kit that can be bashed with some pvc or other products to build a castle? I have looked at Bruce Hirst's molds (here) and think that building from scratch sounds like fun, but I am unsure of the initial investment for what I would want to do. Although having the molds for future builds would be good, too. We are going to bash a Storybook and a Buttercup kits to create Belle's Cottage like this and this. Any thoughts, ideas or product locations are appreciated.

I like this paper. Same story as with the LR and kitchen...bargain basement. I think I might make a hole and a ladder for access. -

I am not sure how thrilled I am with the colors. I will have to see how they look with windows and furniture. -

The living room. Same story on the wallpaper as with the kitchen. -

I haven't decided what to do on the ceilings yet. I have molding, but not sure what t do about texture. This is RL wallpaper I bought at "Asset Recycling." It is like a Habitat for Humanity Resale Store. They used to have hundreds of rolls of designer wallpaper for $1/roll. Not too long ago they dropped the price to 25 cents. Now they don't carry wallpaper anymore. The way they were talking, I think I was the only one that bought any. -

I found a nice dark green mis-tint at Home Depot. I like how it came out. I am already thinking about using this color on another project. -

Okay, so this is how it is supposed to look when completed...more or less. -
If you have a Garden Ridge store near you, they have some great decorative boxes on sale. The entire store currently 75% off of anything with a red line through the bar code. While looking through all of the great stuff, I ended up in an aisle full of hat boxes and other decorative boxes. Many of them are on clearance (they might have a ding or two). Here are the ones I picked up for later use. The most I spent was $10 on the "treasure chest" looking box. Anyone who likes half scale or quarter scale could do a lot with these. There are only 47 stores in the Midwest and Southeast, but if you have one near you go get a bargain. I only bought three boxes and tried to show them opened and closed. They just didn't post in order.
