I am challenging my own taste in color in this dollhouse. It seems to "want" corals, pinks, silver-grays, and cream... whereas I tend to like primary colors. It's been an experience to paint and highlight things in these foreign hues. ;-)© Dana Freeman

Hi all, I am new to dollhouses. I been rehabbing my house for 10 years and decided to live in peace for a while by working on dollhouses instead of my house. Ha. Little did I know. I am working on the Alison Jr and I heard about people finishing it in a week. I been working on mine for a month lol. I wanted a modern doll house and couldn't find an affordable one so I decided to make this one my own design with a few mods. Very brave of me being my first house I know. I can't wait to start working on the inside but I still have a long way to go

This kit came with pre-scribed floors which I finished with a clear sealer. I plan on making my own wood parquet floors, but this will give it a finished look in the meantime. -

I think I've finally accepted the color of this house. Originally, it was a darker green, but after two coats I chose to lighten it up with my cream accent color. The outcome was much better. I think once I have the light cream and burnt orange trim on, it will be better. -
I've always loved miniatures and after a few months of research I've decided to build my first dollhouse. I will eventually be inheriting a massive, completely hand built "Shadows on the Teche" dollhouse and have decided now is the time to start learning about this hobby. I chose the Alison Jr. because it is a smaller house and I felt that would be best to start with. Also, if I decide it's not for me (doubtful!) it's not such a big loss. I plan to build it mostly as is with only a few minor upgrades. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just started last night so I only have the main body pieces primed and the floors sealed.
