From the album: Realpuki Primrose Cottage
So happy with how it turned out! (I wish my pictures were better, it looks way better IRL!) this is the first dollhouse I've actually finished (the 2nd house I started, my Orchid is still a WIP) -

Got to thinking maybe brick paper would look good on this. Adding a foundation even with the outside wall and then bricking the whole thing would add some needed height to the house and also allow for some decorative latticework under the porch.....
-
From the album: The White Rose
Last night I added 1/16 x 1/16 inch cross pieces to each of the windows to give the illusion of double hung windows. This was a real challenge at half scale, but I think it was worth it. Lesson: Always do window sills first before assembling the house - 1 comment

More progress on the White Rose. The roof is now complete. I've glued the shingle pieces in place, added a top trim just under the rooftop molding, and added corner pieces to cover the corner edges where the shingles meet. The posts for the third floor dormer bay and it's roof are attached. Front bay trimmed and stonework complete. Front door roof and posts are now in place.- 8 comments

Have all the sides done with the stucco finish. Now for some sanding and paint and coming up with something for the flat roof.
-

Woke up in the night with the idea of bumping out the front windows. I had the two raised panel pieces from something that happened to be the right size, so they will be the sides. Will just have to cut some narrow pieces for the roof and floor.
-
This morning, I introduced the Lighthouse and Magnolia to each other. They seemed to hit it off quite well and I've been humming Fiddler on the Roof songs all morning long hahahahahahahaha. I tried a few configurations and would really appreciate some advice from the bashers please? Option 1: LH joining on the left (against the blank wall). Pro - blank wall, I can add a door. Con: Roof alignment (sloping down towards the LH) means it may look a bit disjointed. Option 2: LH joining on the right, flush in the middle with the balcony. Pro - might flow better, cut window opening into a door. Con: lose one window, two side bay windows will look a bit out of place staring into blank walls and the two joining walls are not equal length to start with. Option 3: LH joining in the oh-so-conveniently cut gap, looks like they're conjoining already, hey? Pro: looks like it was meant to be, precise angles work better for my OCD. This leaves the balcony closed on one side. I can keep the main part of bay area with 2 adjoining windows. The roof might need adjusting somehow. Con: cannot really think of one! Do shout if you spot an obvious glitch please. Let me know, my heart is thumping a bit faster at all the possibilities already hehehehehehehe.

Saw this miniature house in a magazine years ago and fell in love with it. Wanted a smaller version so went with the Canterbury.
-

Cut a new front roof piece for the tower--thought that would be easier than cutting a round hole. Plus, it already has a trim piece! Would like some wrought iron along the top and the top of the tower too. Think I will completely build the two new wings first and then start on the house itself. That's if it lets me...LOL!
-

Just have to deal with that front roof line. The sunroom will have a flat roof, so don't really want the roof to stick up in front of it.
-

Using another wall of the Buttercup to cut a new front wall for the sunroom. The bay window will be used here also.
-

I just received my Madison, (my second build) today! Of course, I want to make some changes... The biggest modification I’m planning is a cathedral ceiling for the larger room (interior picture attached). I will leave the attic in place on the left side, and may insert a railing in part of the center attic support to make it a small loft overlooking the larger room. I’m hoping the wall dividing the two rooms – which is not quite in the middle – will be enough to support the attic/loft area (and the center attic wall which supports the roof), but realize I may need a column or some other kind of support on the first floor. Thoughts? I also want to enlarge the window in the large room and change the attic window... I think the original attic window would look weird from the inside with a cathedral ceiling. I've ‘photoshopped’ an idea for two triangular windows instead, but would love some input from folks with more experience. Thanks in advance!

Please excuse these horrid photos...Ive spent hours trying to get the pics viewable. When I took these pictures I had a cheap digital camera, although I dont think I can blame it all on the camera because now I have a good digital camera and the shoots still come out ucky...lol I decided I needed a place to put all the miniatures Id been making for the past couple of years and I choose the McKinley because it can hang on the wall more like a giant room scene box and the fountain has draws for storage...I really like that. Anyway when I first started I saw that I wasnt going to be happy with such few rooms and the small size of those rooms...so I added on the kitchen, I built the staircase and the tower thing but decided to take it out opting for more room space and wanting to make it look alittle more modern. The attic space soon became a third floor. I installed the electrical tape The kitchen floor is paper...I used MSPaint to create the grey marble tiling effect. The bedroom, hallway, and living room floors are miniature hardwood I bought, the other floors I installed piece by piece. The living room entry is real miniture white tiles. -

I frammed the front outside with channel so I could slide a piece of plexy glass or clear plastic in and out. I want to keep the dirt and dust away and curious fingers too. lol The rest of the pictures show each room decorated and furnished....there are still a few things left to do with the decorating...but I suppose that part of a dollhouse never really gets done. Thanks for taking the time to look at my pics. -

By the time I get to the point where I can start wallpapering over a year has gone by since I started....I will spend months deciding on the color scheme and then creating the wallpaper. I printed all the wall paper on card stock. The room on the very right in the 3rd floor (the computer room) I used standard yellow paper folders cuz I liked the color. Once I started installing the trim I finally got a feeling of some satisfaction...up til then all I felt was total indecision and major confusion... Im the type of person that everything has to match and be eye appealing..and in a dollhouse of this type your going to be looking at it as a whole at first instead of individual rooms......so the wallpaper for each room needs to go with the rooms next to it and above or below it...then it has to go with furniture and decoration of the particular room its in ...... I thought I was going to go insane! Id start working on the wallpaper and never actually put it on the walls cuz as I worked thoughts would come to me like ' I just know this isnt going to look right next to that' or ' what if I cant find the right color scheme in a rug' etc... What a NIGHTMARE!! Check back real soon cuz Ill have the rest of the pics up and the finished product!-
