Incomplete Dura Craft Bayberry Cottage BY 197
B&L Dollhouse posted a topic in Community Trading Post
Hello. We found a Dura Craft Bayberry Cottage (BY 197) dollhouse at a yard sale and was told it was complete. The box had been open but it looked full. Instead of doing the smart thing, and verifying the contents, we tore into the project and began assembly. We made it to page 4 and realized there are missing pieces. After a more careful examination, we realized there are more pieces missing then just two. From my search, it appears Dura Craft is no longer in business so finding replacement parts will be challenging. If anyone has this dollhouse and needs replacement pieces, we would love to help with your needs. We would rather help someone complete their projects than just throw this in the trash. If you are interested in this project, just contact us and we can work out shipping. We hope this will help someone complete their dollhouse.- 4 replies

The living room is finished and ready to move into. I added some ceiling beams and an entry light, also. I will (try to) make the period furniture when I am closer to finishing the house. I will custom order thin oak for all the furniture. I have several period furniture patterns from The Scale Cabinetmaker and I found a very helpful pattern book online. We'll see how that all turns out later. -

Three of the four pieces are almost done. I still have the chest-of-drawers and the hardware to make.- 3 comments

I still need to add a 1920's refrigerator and more accessories. I do wish the kitchen had ended up a bit larger. But done is done. I'll squeeze it in somewhere. ;-) -

I fell in love with the Peacock frieze and thought it would go well in the living room. The wainscot and plate rail are done in black walnut. I am thinking a beamed ceiling for this room and, perhaps, a tin ceiling in the kitchen. -

Not fastened or glued yet. I am thinking about scrapping the rail and starting over. The ballusters aren't square and it will drive me nuts if I don't fix it. I am not sure I like the pattern anyway. -

The bench still needs waxed and polished and the light needs moved to the left a bit. -

Stairs and bench are all trimmed. Now it's time to figure out the spindles and hand rails...something Gustav Stickley-ish. LOL, Can you tell that I'm winging it? There are about a million more hours to go before this house is done (sigh). And I thought the floors would take the longest!!! -

My first EVER attempt at making a scratch parquet floor. This one will go in either the bathroom or the kitchen of the craftsman. -

I see some changes that need made before I start on the spindles and handrails. Pictures are great for bringing out the flaws. -
