From the album: Country House - Album 2
Amy wanted to rearrange the furniture in her bedroom, and Grandma, who encourages the girls to be creative, helped her. They moved the pink armchair from the alcove, and placed most of the play things/collectibles in the extended space. The desk was in the corner where the chair was, and Mickey Mouse and family is resting by the pink hamper rather than on the green bench. Not all that much has changed, but a little change can do a lot of good. Amy is quite pleased with the results, and Heather said she can certainly live with it (meaning the change). It's a good thing because she shares the room with Amy. -

Grandma got a new nightstand for her bedroom. I liked the stand but was debating purchasing it until I put the doily and light on it - and that sealed the deal.- 1 comment

Trying out the bedroom wallpaper. I'm afraid it might be too overpowering, but if so, I'll just add a white retaining wall underneath. And maybe just do the slanted roof part in the wallpaper. (Technically, scrapbook paper.)- 3 comments

This minature Edith Hicks doll that I purchased on eBay completes the girls' collection of Shirley Temple items. Grandma told them she had this doll when she was a little girl, so they believe this is a real antique.- 3 comments

This is the full effect of the rearranged bedroom. At first, I was being experimental, but I think I really like the room this way.- 4 comments

When I was kid I used to like rearranging my bedroom furniture. I usually got the urge to do that in the spring. These days I have more furniture, so rearranging is a bit more difficult. However, it is so much easier to move things in a dollhouse, so I took the liberty of placing Holly and Carrie's bed alongside the wall, just to see how it would look.-

I am in the mood for spring, so I put a flowery bedspread on Amy and Heather's bed. I made the original bedspread from two pieces of fabric they let me have free in Fabric Land, and I pinned them on a sponge that served as the mattress. That is about as creative as I get. I purchased this new bedspread on eBay so I can have it as a change off. I think the girls will like it. -

In this picture you can see the doll carriage and Teddy bear Carrie got for Christmas. The large Raggedy Ann Americana picture used to be above the bed, but I think it shows better on back wall. The girl's try to be neat and tidy, but one of the bed pillows is turned upside down. -

This is the corner of Amy and Heather's bedroom where the girls like to play. Here you can see the second of the two dollhouses they got for Christmas, along with two new dolls. -

Amy is currently reading this book about Shirley Temple. This is the area where they like to stretch out and read. -

This is one of the two dollhouses the girls' got for Christmas. This one is in Holly and Carrie's room. Holly also got a jump rope, which she is keeping out on the toy chest as a reminder of spring. The story books Carrie got are lying on the bed. -

This is what Grandma and Grandpa's bedroom looked like before they settled down for their long winter's nap on Christmas Eve. Grandma loves purple, so Grandpa bought that tree for her. Grandma also got her vanity items and books for Christmas. -

My girls are so happy and excited to meet Angi. She is bigger than they are and cannot stand or walk on her own, but they love her anyway. Grandma told them that everyone is handicapped in some way and no one is perfect, but we all have something special to offer one another. Grandma is a wise woman. Woody is protectively waiting for Angi outside. The girls love how Woody takes care of their friend. The woman partially appearing in the upper right hand corner is my friend Ann who is Angi and Woody's caregiver. -

From the album: The Great American Dollhouse Museum
This is not your typical room box, nor is it your typical bedroom. This is none other than a scene that deserves to be in a museum. -

I liked how this bedroom is both simple, yet elegant. -

Placement is everything in the mini world, which is why I like playing with the furniture in this room. I thought the vanity, which was really made for my Garfield house, may have been too bulky for an attic room that was compromised by a slanted roof. Also, the wicker chair next to the matching wicker dresser was a tight squeeze in the opposite corner. So for now, I am saving the vanity as inspiration to complete my Garfield house, and the wicker chair looks good on the porch. I really didn't want to take the vanity away from the girls, but they prefer using Grandma's vanity anyway. Amy likes her desk in the corner where the vanity was, and both she and Heather find the openenss of the room fresh and appealing. Besides, they need to make room for the dollhouse they may be getting for Christmas. -

Before the renovations this area of the attic was sealed off by a solid wall. This secton had no floor, and it was open from the second floor. Now it is a nice extended area of one of the attic bedrooms, and the added window gives the room some light. -

I moved the pink wicker hamper that was in the alcove and placed it at the front of the bed. I also moved the pink hat box and bag that were in Grandma's room back into the alcove area where the hamper was. Like a typical girl's room, this one has a lot of things in it. Placement is sometimes difficult because of the slanted walls and attic roof; but this is the room I find my self "playing" with the most. If I ever get my Garfield house in shape, I may move the vanity of this room, but then again, I like the desk in this room and may keep the pieces together. I also like the green and pink combination.
