  1. I am building the Pierce, and can't figure out which piece goes where in the dining room entry. Does the slanted piece go nearest to the front door, or on the kitchen side? I don't want to glue it down and have it be wrong. Thanks !

    Dinner tea set

    From the album: Sara's Willowcrest!

    Have tea with the dolls?
  3. From the album: Foursquare

The house as I pulled it out of the closet, dust and all. I never did get dining room chairs as a kid, but I sure made a lot of food out of sculpey. Most of what's on the table is from the sculpey days. Dad hand-laid the floor, and all it needs is a good cleaning, but the non-white wallpaper has discolored quite a bit (the walls weren't primed first, so there's lots of discoloration; the white wallpaper is thicker stock and stayed brilliant white).
  4. Intro of my project HERE DINING ROOM The current kit doesnt have a designated dining room so I got the idea to add a room to the left of the house for the kitchen and turn the existing kitchen into the dining room. Photo 1: My first step when beginning my build will be to redo the wall between the living room and dining. As of now there is a small door on the right half of the wall and I plan on centering the door and creating a wide tudor styled archway as the one pictured above (Sans the pocket doors) and putting two sconces on either side of the wall. Parallel to this archway will be the new doorway into the kitchen. Possibly a swinging door. Photo 2 & 3: I plan on continuing the paneling from the living room into the dining except in the dining, I only plan on taking it about 3/4 up the wall as pictured. I also plan on continuing the same crossed beam detail from the living room ceiling in here. Since I won't start this room until the living room is done, I hope to be pretty handy with the paneling at this point. (I hope) KITCHEN The kitchen as I mentioned will be a while new add on. Im going to make my like easy and keep the finishes here simple. Photo 1: I love this old sink and stove. Im still debating if I want to do a checkered floor as pictured or a large slate slab floor which seems more true to the Tudor-ness of the house. What do you think? Photo 2: Same Idea as the first photo. Stay Tuned for my next post: Exterior

    Pizza Night

From the album: Country House - Renovated

Grandpa bought home pizza, which is one of the girls' favorites. The family loves Grandma's cooking, but they like to giver her a break every now and then. The salt and pepper shaker show up on the table better than I thought they would. In the background you can see Grandma's childhood doll that she placed in the cradle.
  9. From the album: Country House - Renovated

Grandpa was out shoveling snow today, so Grandma and the girls rewarded him by putting out a nice spread of treats for Valentine's Day. They also gave him his birthday cake a few days early.
  10. From the album: Country House - Renovated

Among the display of treats is a bowl of holiday punch and six glass cups - one each for Grandma and Grandpa and four for each of the girls. They want you to know they love the Greenleaf community and hope you had a nice Valentine's Day.

    Final Preparations

From the album: Country House - Renovated

It is finally Christmas Eve, and Grandpa moved the dining room table to make room for Santa Claus. I think I like the table that way.

    A Beautiful Sight

From the album: Country House - Renovated

A beautiful sight - they're happy tonight! Amy hangs the stockings as Grandma and Grandpa prepare for a holiday feast in this most joyous Christmas scene. Great Grandma and Grandpa are sitting in their rockers, taking in the sight.
  13. From the album: Country House - Renovated

I moved the rocking chair that was in the corner next to the fireplace to make room for the Christmas tree, and I found that I like it better in its new location.

    Full Effect

From the album: Country House - Renovated

This is the full effect of the dining room at Christmas time. My mother used to hang small stockings on the light above our dining room table, and I ended up doing the same in my little house.
  15. From the album: Country House - Renovated

Ernest Hemingway or a weary traveler (or trick-or-treater) may find Grandma's dining room a welcoming place on a dark, October night. After a weekend consisting of a Halloween party, town parade, and costume contest, the family prepares to settle down for a warm and cozy evening.

    Meal Preparations

From the album: Country House - Renovated

The girls had a Halloween party last night, and Grandma wanted to make sure they had something substantial to eat before they indulged in party sweets. Heather and Holly were quick to place their personalized mugs on the table.

    After The Party

From the album: Country House - Renovated

Amy helped Grandma clean up after having some late-night company. The ceiling light is new and runs by battery. The light contains two magnets, one which is glued onto the ceiling, and the other which is attached to the light fixture. I can pull down the light to turn it on or off or to change the battery. Then it reattaches itself to the ceiling magnet that holds it in place.

    Dining Room

From the album: Country House - Renovated

This is a sideview of the dining room. I purchased the fireplace at a miniature show in Warren, NJ. from Barbara Hill, who does lovely work. Barbara sells some of her products on Etsy.
  19. From the album: Country House - Renovated

This is a more extensive view of the dining room with the sewing area in the back. The cradle in front of the fireplace used to be on a shelf that I had in my room from when I was a young child. I have a small black rocking chair in the kitchen that was also on that shelf.
  20. From the album: Alexandria Build

LOVE the dining room! You can see the doorway into the tower room in the back. It was so boring, so I added some corbels and bashed an apex trim piece for a more traditional Victorian look. Now we're ready for the ceiling medallion and chandelier!
