From the album: Country House - Renovated
Grandpa thought he would have to wheel little Carrie home in the wagon, but the only one tired from their long trail of trick or treating is Grandpa. Good thing Grandma saved him a candy bar. Grandpa colored his neck to look like a vampire victim, and Grandma is rubbing his shoulders.-

Now that they figured each other out, these two are quickly becoming friends. -

Holly thinks she is talking to Carrie, who is dressed like a ghost, and this ghost thinks he is encountering a talking pile of leaves. -

It's a wonderful but sometimes scary world out there, so Grandma and Grandpa won't let the girls go trick-or-treating alone. Grandpa will take them, while Grandma will stay home and give out the candy. The girls wanted Grandpa to dress up, so last minute he marked his neck with red and black magic markers to make it look like he was bit by a vampire. Great Grandma and Grandpa are on the porch in rocking chairs watching the kids go by. They plan to scare the kids who mistake them as dummies. -

While Grandpa took the girls trick-or-treating, Grandma stayed home to give out her candy. She decided to get some fresh air and save the kids a trip up the porch steps. She has Hershey bars and lollipops for the kids.- 1 comment

Amy is a real Beatles and John Lennon fan, so she dressed like a flower child from the sixties. Her peace sign was originally Grandma's, and she and Grandpa gave Amy the John & Yoko book she has tucked in her skirt. Her sign says, "Give Peace a Chance." -

Grandma is checking the hem of Carrie's ghost costume to make sure it isn't too long. She will make any finishing touches to the the girls' costumes before Halloween. -

Carrie wanted to be a ghost for Halloween because she says with her face covered, nobody will be able to tell who she is. If you should see her on Halloween, please act like you don't know her, and please pretend you are scared. -

The girls are parading around for Grandma, showing her what they decided to be for Halloween. Grandma is very impressed. -

After the girls are in bed, Grandma and Grandpa like to play some games of their own. Here they are playing with the girls' Ouija board. Grandma is laughing because the Ouija board told them to give their granddaughters dollhouses for Christmas. Grandpa said if the Ouija board says so, then who is he to argue. - Grandpa will do anything for the girls. Also, he doesn't want to take any chances by making the spirits angry. -
From the album: Mosie's Room
I bought my little dolls to Mo's house so they could give their expert opinion on her room box. As you can see, it most definitely meets their approval. These two wasted no time making themselves at home. Carrie is resting while Heather is checking out the curtain.- 1 comment

Heather is looking outside. She is probably waiting for her other two sisters to come check out the place. -

The family is getting ready for a snack, but Heather sprained her ankle, so Grandma fixed her a tray so she doesn't have to go downstairs. Amy decided to join her, so she won't have to snack alone. The book on the bed is The Playboy Interviews with John & Yoko, and Amy is going to read portions of it to Heather. That should cheer her up. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa's albums, the girls are real Beatles fans.-

Heather and Carrie are helping Grandma by setting the dining room table. Heather is standing on a chair to reach the plates in the china cabinet, and Carrie is waiting for Heather to hand her a dish. -

This is a more updated picture of the kitchen. I moved the ironing board out from behind the staircase to make room for the bread bin, which was moved to accommodate the cabinet next to the stove. -

The original Holly Hobbie was a cat lover, and my Holly is true to her namesake. So when she asked for this stuffed animal, Grandpa bought it for her. Now if the cat were real, I would have to buy it a miniature litter box, but now I am off the hook. Holly named her cat Socks because it looks like the cat Chelsea Clinton had in the White House when her father was president. The family must be Democrats because both Fala and Socks were named after pets owned by Democratic first families. In any event, Holly and her cat are inseparable.-

When I first started searching for a miniature Carrie doll, I wasn't sure if she existed, as I only saw Holly Hobbie and her friends Amy and Heather in the 5 inch version. This is the only Carrie doll I had seen in this size. She is 4 1/2 inches tall, and I found her on eBay. She needed a little cleaning up after I got her, but her two-tone face and "spaghetti" stain on her dress are only noticeable in certain pictures. Even so, her newly-found sisters and grandparents adore her, and Carrie is very happy with her family. Here she is seen snatching Mickey Mouse out of Amy and Heather's bedroom. - Carrie gets away with a lot. The girls' bedrooms are separated by a hallway which has a Peter Rabbit theme.-

As the oldest girl, Amy likes to set a good example for her sisters by showing initiative and taking responsibility. Grandma realizes that and lets her help with the laundry every now and then. Amy should really teach Carrie to put away toys after she is done playing with them. If you look to the right, you will see that Carrie left Mickey Mouse lying on the dining room floor. Carrie wants Amy to iron her skirt next. -

Here is another picture of the girls. They hope you will check in on them often, as their grandparents keep making upgrades and changes to the house. -

Meet the little house occupants. Sitting on the porch rail is Amy, who is 11. Heather, the tomboy, is standing on the rail, and she is 10. Holly is resting by the steps after pushing Carrie in the wagon. Holly is almost 8, and little Carrie just turned 6. Carrie really likes that Mickey Mouse. The girls' parents are actors who are constantly on road tours, as that is how they can make the most money to eventually send their children to college. So the girls are living in this house with their grandparents. If you follow their story, I think you will agree it is a wonderful arrangement.- 1 comment

The robes are simple tent-like garments cut from silk. Natural fibers drape well, and the shine of silk was perfect for the glitz expected at Mardi Gras time. Green, yellow, and purple are the traditional colors of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.© 2013 Katherine Bennett

The riders line the windows on both sides of the float. Their masks were made from Fimo formed over head-size balls of aluminum foil. Since the masks traditionally are white, there was no need for further embellishment.© 2013 Katherine Bennett
