From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop
In this shot you can see that the scratchbuilt shop has a huge opening on the wall which meets up with the Contest kit. In the kit house, the opening was designed to accommodate a garage door but I elected to use the opening to merge the two buildings, as if the shack had once had a solid wall which the Aucoins tore out to attach their shiny new shop and make the entire place hang together as a whole.-

Of course I knew the measurements from before the kit arrived, but this was my first chance to see right in front of me, exactly how much space this multi-part project was going to take up!-

This is just another shot of the dry fit. I like the color I chose for the lattice. It is actually stain that we have on the woodwork of our RL house. I also used stone textured paint for the balance. I am not sure what I am going to do for the porch and steps. I am just waiting to see what direction the rest of the house takes.© © 2012 Possum Trot Miniatures

I got smart and did the dry fit again after primer and paint. Ended up trimming and sanding most of the tabs. I can always fill them in later.© © 2012 Possum Trot Miniatures

We tested a few different exterior colors. This color was chosen as Renee wants it to be a little whimsical. It is a mis-tint that I picked up at Home Depot. The interior will be pretty straight forward, but this will definitely stand out. Framing might me navy blue or another variation. More than likely it will not end up white.© © 2012 Possum Trot Miniatures

I have not always been big on spending a lot of time on dry fits. However, past experience has taught me this is definitely necessary. This is the largest house I have done to date. It is also the first one I have done where I did not paint and decorate prior to assembly. This will be fun. Yes, I did miss priming one of the walls...lol.© © 2012 Possum Trot Miniatures
