So I have the Cir-Kit Starter Wiring Kit and an extra 15' roll of tapewire, but I have no idea how to start. I found the tutorial by Darrell Payne that was pointed out, but the link is dead. I also found something by him on Miniatures.com but it seems to start in the middle of the process, and I have no clue how to get to that point. Is there a straightforward tutorial or video or something that will get me started? Something like "Wiring a Dollhouse for Dummies"? 🙄 My house body is assembled and is ready for wiring so I'd like to move forward. I do have the Tapewire Instruction Book from the Cir-Kit, but wasn't sure how useful it is. It's sort of Greek to me right now. Thanks for any help you can give me! FWIW, I have the Vermont Farmhouse Jr. house and am planning on wiring all 3 floors (I hope!).

I have searched the forums and cannot find the answer, so here I am! Hi Everyone!!! I am working on a front-opening Country Victorian dollhouse. When I received it, someone had already wired the front opening with the tapewire and made sure that it was connected to the hinges. Now, my issue is, I have no clue as to how to start the regular tapewire process and how to connect the two. Do I go ahead and put the junction splice and tapewire in the house as normal, but connect the new tapewire run to the hinges that already have the tapewire? I checked the handy dandy Greenleaf Gazette and only see an article for hybrid wiring and not tapewiring with a front opening-like how do you start after the front-opening has already been done? Here are pics of what I mean... Thanks everyone, truly appreciated. I can't continue to put this house together for my cousin until I get it wired correctly!! :-) *And I am up for the challenge!!! **I hope this makes sense! Bre

Hi everyone, It has been a few years since I've been on the forum. I was working on wiring the Arthur, ran into a frustration point, and life got busy, but... time to finish this project (or at least make progress again!). To avoid trying to pound an eyelet into the weak upstairs wall of the Arthur I tried using a manual drill someone suggested, but the eyelet connections are really loose and there is not electrical connection in the joined wire because I couldn't hold the drill steady enough (I did try to use the block of wood that came with the drill for support). Is there anything I can do to salvage the connection I tried to make or do I have to try to make another one? If I do have to re-do it how can I avoid the same mistake in the future? Thanks!

Hello Everyone! I just discovered this forum and am so grateful! I am remodeling my childhood dollhouse that my dad made for me. I have cleared out the entire house of everything including wallpaper and flooring. I have left the existing electric tape and would like to add on to it seeing as though it still works. I bought the blue and copper tape wire to use throughout the house and am wondering how to attach it to the existing tape wire which is two copper pieces (no blue piece). Is it possible? I assume there is a way. I have also purchased brads to use in connecting them. From reading some other posts am I correct in thinking I should purchase eyelets instead? Thank you, Kouwe

Hi everyone, I'm sure this may have come up before, but I haven't found it in my search so here goes- When I started trying to add tape wire and hammer in eyelets in the back wall of my Arthur, I noticed that the glue began to come loose around the walls, and I have been stalled on my build ever since. Does anyone have ideas for how to keep the back walls that are less structurally integrated stable when hammering on the house? I'm very stuck. I don't want to permanently damage the house. I thought about wiring mostly from the floor which seems more stable, but I'd also like a ceiling light in one of the upper rooms and porch lights, so will need to solve this problem eventually! Thanks for any ideas!

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and I need some advice. We jumped into the deep end of miniatures, and bought the Lily dollhouse instead of something small. Does anyone have advice on wallpapering and electricity? we thought we would put in the wallpaper before we put the house together, but I want electricity so now that doesn't work. any tricks to offer? My husband thought that maybe we could affix the wallpaper at the top and leave the bottom unattached so that we can lay the electric tape, but I'm worried about it getting damaged. Should we just make templates for the paper so it's easier to apply?

I have to start over on my house (due to years of neglect) and I originally ran round wire all under the siding and under the house. It all has to be repaired/replaced. Now...20 years later, I am reading and seeing all the electrical tape vs. round wire. I need some experienced advice...which is better...wire or tape for the electrical?

Hello Everyone, I have several questions about different areas. I found a Victorian styled built dollhouse at a Flea Market but it needs some tlc. The highest point on the dollhouse is 33 inches tall. I am building multiple House of Miniatures Kits and Realife Miniatures kits, what is the best stain and polyurethane/shellac to use? Any suggestions? I have the Minwax 2 in 1 stain/poly, would that be ok? Oh and I bought the wood preconditioner since the wood is old and dry. I was wondering about flooring in a dollhouse? I want to do wood floors. Some of my floors just need a stain/finish, others need wood flooring installed on top because of the two pieces of wood coming together. Any product suggestions? Also if I use wood clapboard as flooring what glue should I use? Or is it best to buy the ready to install wood flooring? I plan on electrifying my dollhouse but I am not sure if I could do it myself or if I should have it done at the dollhouse shop near me? I want to have multiple outlets in each room to move lamps around. Also after installing the electricity, how do you wallpaper? The shop near me charges $10 per room for electric + $10 to wallpaper. My dollhouse has 5 to 6 rooms. I have a 1:12 or 1:1 scale dollhouse with small 10 3/4 inch deep rooms that are 9 1/2 inches in length. With ceilings that are about 9 1/4 inches tall. I want to add molding on the top and bottom of the walls. Is there a size of molding that would be best for such small rooms? Thank you for your responses, I am new to the hobby of miniatures. I need to learn the skills and secretes of miniatures. I appreciate any tips or advice. I have included a picture of my house and the wallpaper books that I will be using.

Hello! I THINK I want to wire my Beacon Hill (bought used so renovating, not made from kit) I have the large cir-kit tape wire kit unused from my voyage to minis years ago. Honestly it scares me to pieces to think of doing it, but I bet once I start it's easier than it sounds! BUT the problem is that I wasn't planning to wire it, and I've glued panels to the walls of the main foyer room! They are not floor to ceiling, but are only 3 inch by 1 inch panels, glued about half inch from the floor. Since they stick out I don't think I can just tape wire over top of them. I know you're supposed to be about an inch or inch and a half from the floor, and consistent throughout the house, so I'm not sure how or if I could wire it now. None of the other rooms have had anything done. I have wallpaper for the main entry and a few other rooms, so I need to figure this out before I move forward. How can I make it work? Could I tape the left and right rooms all the way around in the traditional way, and then the entry just for a chandelier?? Could I wire that one room just above the panels? (By going around the bottom of the left/right, then up that wall, into the foyer above the panels, around the foyer, add ceiling wires, then down the wall of the right/left and around the lower area of that room?) Also, can I wire it now, then decide lighting placement later? Or do I need to know exactly what lights I'm using and where they are going before I wire???? And, one more, how obvious are the plugs for lights when you use them?? Do they plug into the house wall similar to how they plug into a real wall? I can't visualize how it works when I know there are wall sconces too, and where those wires go. Thanks!!!
