  1. Hi all. I’ve been perfecting my mini couch game and am happy to sell the ones I’ve made or make you a unique creation. I have a lot of beautiful fabrics including florals, art deco, plaids of all colors, and modern. Sides, backs and bottoms are completely finished off and legs are stained wood. I can include matching pillows. Shoot me a message with any questions and thanks for looking!
  2. I've been designing and printing my own furniture, but haven't come up with nice hinges for cabinets and doors. Any suggestions?
  3. Hi All! I’m a newbie when it comes to finishing miniature furniture. I have a lovely unfinished chair that has some carved detail and I’d like to repaint it gold, bronze, or dark brown and reupholster it. Can anyone recommend a brand and color of gold paint? In general, what are your favorite paint types and brands to use when painting miniature furniture? Do you prime the wood before painting? If so, what do you use. Thanks in advance for your help! Sylvia
  4. So, half-scale furniture. What's out there for purchase is getting limited as manufacturers close down or discontinue production. What I see for sale is overly ornate, not the style I want, or too niche. I could be wrong, but I think most of us are building houses, not shops or dentist offices. Some of you have the skill to make your own furniture. I built a passable corner cabinet, but my crafting skills aren't that great and I have very limited tools. That brings me to kits. I've made a few by Cassidy Creations that have come out great, but too often those kits have missing pieces, pieces the wrong size, and confusing/wrong instructions. There are some great sellers on Etsy making laser-cut kits. Those I've made successfully were from RedCottageMiniatures, SDKMiniatures, MelissasMiniWereld, and HalfScaleMiniatures. I'm curious to know whose kits have others had success with. Do you have a favorite designer/seller? What do you like best about the kits?
  5. Hello, everyone. I have always wanted a dollhouse and dabbled here and there over the years. Now that I'm retired, I've thrown myself into the hobby with a vengeance! I have a beautiful farmhouse built for me by Kelloggs and a Victoria's Farmhouse I bought second-hand. I've been learning so much and find myself engrossed in a project for hours! I've learned a lot from this forum about painting the dollhouse, what glues to use for different projects and types of wood for dollhouse furniture. I'm so grateful for everyone's generous support and suggestions! This forum is a godsend!
  6. Hello there, I am new to the mini community but have been an admirer for years. I am giving my daughter a house full of furniture for Christmas this year and in the last two days have learned a lot of things about scale that I had no idea existed. My problem is that I fell in love with some 1:16 scale furniture and ordered it not knowing that the home kits are specific sizes. I LOVE the 1:12 scale homes more than the 1:16 scale home and am wondering if the 1:16 scale furniture will look terrible in a 1:12 scale home? I plan on using all 1:16 scale furniture and dolls. Do any of you have both a 1:12 scale home and 1:16 scale furniture that you could show me a picture of the size difference. I've searched everywhere online and have only been able to find pictures of the furniture compared to each other but not a 1:12 scale home with all 1:16 scale furniture inside. Thank you so much! I'm sure as I get building, I will have a million more questions as well.
  7. So, I've found a source for a bunch of 1:24 scale furniture for a decent price, but the problem is, I don't love the finishes. Originally I was thinking I would just paint them all so it wouldn't matter, but because they are hand-carved wood, I'm now thinking it would be nicer to stain them all. Is there any way to do this without destroying them? I mean, half scale is so tiny, is it even possible to sand the current paint/stain off of them in the first place? I don't want to buy them unless I know I can refinish them, because it's an investment of over $400 (oof this is a pricey hobby!) Thanks all! <3

In the end, Hansel & Gretel find treasure in the witch's house, so I made a treasure chest with leftover trim pieces from the Buttercup. No hinge, easy peasy.

I thought I might be going too far with the Tudor look, which wasn't exactly what I first envisioned for this house. But as Havana Holly says, the house knows what it wants to be ...

  14. Howdy everyone! On my vacation (back home) to south Florida, I managed to come across several pieces of cheap-o furniture. It's previous owner seems to have been less than precise during assembly and a bit heavy-handed on the lacquer/varnish! In any case, they *appear* to be made of some kind of hardwood (but that could be an effect of the intense finishing). I would like to re-purpose these pieces (i.e., replace parts with more elegant dowels, add knobs and handles, and perhaps upholster the chairs after replacing those strange little arms). In order to do the best job, I'd like to know a little more about them. Does anyone recognize these? Do they belong to a kit? Or, are they dollar store pieces? And, if anyone is willing, do you have any tips for refurbishing these little guys? Thanks in advance!
  15. Hi, I'm just looking for any help in finding patterns, or if anyone may have some 1:6 scale furniture for sale. Apparently I am going to be putting my 1:12 builds on hold -- and working on a 1:6 house for a little girl for Christmas. Parents don't want to furnish with the typical plastic furniture, so am looking for help on where to find patterns or furniture for this build. Thanks in advance for any help!
  16. Hi Everyone, I just picked up a furniture kit at a garage sale and it has most of the pieces and instructions, but no parts layout and, since a lot of the pieces look similar, it would be most helpful if someone had a layout of the sheets. Thanks in advance!
  17. Hi! My wife is having a clearout of her old Lundby items (her mother used to work for Lundby many years ago). Amongst the furniture we have two gold chairs. As far as we know, they were made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Lundby in 1987 and are now considered very rare. We've only found 2 mentions of them on the Internet. No sign of auctions! Does anyone have any idea as to how much they're worth? Please PM any ideas! And if anyone is interested, here's a gallery of the furniture and accessories we have left (we had loads of enquiries about the Dallashus and it sold within 24 hours...) http://imgur.com/a/Xc375
  18. From the album: Misc Minis

I wanted a bookshelf for the top floor tower of my Fairfield, but the low height of the ceiling in this area made it a bit complicated. Then while visiting family during holidays I saw this lovelly rotating bookshelf that doubles as a sidetable and I decided I must have one. As a book lover I'm always running out of space to store books (and room on the walls to add more shelves...), these are so space efficient and practical! On top of that it looks really good anywhere I've decided to make one of these in miniature, this is accurate 1:24 size and fully functional. The shelf section rotates 360 degrees to make it easy to pick your read, and the wheels also work so it can be moved around! None of those features are very useful in a miniature house, but it adds to the fun and looks ;) I did not take pictures before assembling, but it's probably easy to figure out how this works: the moving portion is connected to the base with a screw and the wheels are miniature working brass casters (many thanks to the folks here on the forum who helped me find them!).
