  2. Hi All! I have some items I need to move as I get ready for show season. I have about 60 items marked down 30%. There is a lot of JBM furniture as it is onesies and twosies that are left in my inventory. The furniture has FREE shipping. This is all I have of these items. Once they are sold I will not be buying more. In cases like the JBM, there are no more. PM me with any questions and I hope all is well with everyone. Go to my "All About Miniatures" store and click on "Closeouts." http://stores.ebay.com/All-About-Miniatures?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
  3. Hi All!! For those of you that haven't heard, I am now the North American distributor for JBM Miniature Furniture. I recently unpacked, inspected and checked in over 7,000 pieces of miniature furniture. I needed a bib for all of the drool. There is so much AWESOME stuff. That being said, I am really working on helping JBM "relaunch" their line. No more shipping delays. No more invoice or billing issues. A lot of great merchandise. JBM is introducing about 120 new designs this year. I have loaded over 300 pieces in my eBay store. I am running a brief sale. Get 20% off AND free shipping. I won't do this often and may not leave it on eBay as I want to protect my wholesale customers. This is a reintroduction sale to give a lot of people an opportunity to get some great quality furniture at a low price. Here is the link -- http://stores.ebay.com/All-About-Miniatures?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 Have a great weekend!!

  6. Hi All !! I have exciting news. I have reached a partnership agreement with JBM Miniature Furniture. I am now the JBM distributor for all of North America. All JBM orders, wholesale and retail, will now be shipped from Indiana. Invoicing will be improved, delivery time will be improved and available inventory will be improved. The inventory is in transit and it will be all setup and ready to go Memorial Day weekend. I have spent the past several weeks working on system improvements, advertising and online store setup. I have also committed to several shows, so you will now be able to purchase JBM Miniature Furniture (and my other items) in person at some of your favorite shows. These include: Dayton -- August 15-16 Aztec Wholesale Show -- August 22-24 Orlando Miniaturia (new show) -- September 4-6 Indianapolis -- September 18-19 (pending) Louisville -- October 24 Philadelphia Miniaturia -- November 6-8 Chicago Wee 'c' -- November 13-14 Chicago in 2016 others TBA Those of you that know me know that this is a huge change from my normal three shows per year plan. I am still working on my All About Miniatures website, but have had to put it on the back burner (again) as I am opening an Amazon store first. The Amazon store opening will be June 1. More news to follow as dates draw closer. I may be buying another miniature business next weekend as I dive deeper into this. Thank you to those who supported me as I mulled over this decision.
  7. I was given this kit by a co-worker, and I decided to build it today so I can show her before we're off work for the summer. In the process of making it, the idea occurred to me to bash it a little - but my father-in-law was not a fan of the idea. so I thought I'd ask for advice / opinions. My idea is to cut a hole in the top where the long middle drawer is to use a sink opening. I would either keep it flat and have a very shallow sink, or use a small piece of wood to create a little height on top to make the sink deeper ( I included a picture of the middle drawer on top, to give an idea of a deeper sink). Either way, I'll make that long drawer non-operational, but keep the other doors and drawers. So, what do you think? Bash with a shallow sink, bash with a deep sink, don't bash at all...??? Thanks everyone!!
  8. Hello, This miniature lounge is 1/12 scale. Entirely handmade, it is incredible realism! A real pleasure to offer! It is for sale here: https://www.etsy.com/fr/shop/MiniMondeBoutique?ref=search_shop_redirect&show_panel=true and see here: http: //montoutminimonde.blogspot.fr/
  9. Hi there! I wanted to let you know I have a few more new in box furniture pieces that I bought with the intention of decorating, but have changed my mind. 3 Spindle Chairs 2 Ornate armchairs 1 round pedestal table 1 bookcase Living room Set - fabric couches, coffee table Please personal message me if you're interested! Thank you!
  10. From the album: Refinished furniture

Another long-term project finished. The armoire had a cheap plastic mirror insert in the door, stain color was awful and bland. Steps of restoration: 1. Used stripper to get the finish off 2. Carefully dissolved the glue joints to separate armoire into all of its building components. 3. Cleaned off all residues 4. stained all pieces 5. sanded all pieces (down to 2000 grit paper) 6. Hunted for a photoframe with glass thin enough 7. Cut new glass front 8. Reassembly of armoire 9. Replaced hardware 10. Wax and polish (not done yet..... hahaha) All in all, I'm very happy with this piece. I had bought a whole furniture lot for a few bucks, and this piece (and the hall tree that I did previously) where the two pieces I was after and they are definitely worth the money and effort. I'm sure after I wax the piece it will be stunning. I do, however, admit that I absolutely dislike cleaning windows. Or glass. Or whatever is shiny.... I'm sure you can tell.
  11. Hi Miniaturists, I had expectations of getting into painting and decorating dollhouse furniture, but it's just not practical right now in my life. I have several rooms of wood furniture that I'd like to sell. All furniture is in its original box but I've taken some room photos so you can see it all together. 4 piece bedroom includes double bed, side table, dresser and blanket chest/toy box. 3 Piece Craft Room – Armoire, work table, stool and tiny thread spools 3 Piece Office/Den – Bookcase, table, chair, will include book and picture frame 4 Piece Modern Dollhouse Living Room Set – sofa, upholstered chair, coffee table and ornate armchair *Note: the upholstered furniture does not come in boxes. If interested, please Message me Thank you!
  12. From the album: Beacon Hill Furniture & Accessories

The Realife Miniatures kit furniture is on the small side of 1:12 scale and so should fit into the Beacon Hill's dining room quite nicely. The kit is old, so I tossed the stain and glue packets and am using a stain pen and Aileen's Tacky Glue for construction. I'm taking the time to round the sharp edges with sandpaper to give it a more realistic appearance. The staining is done prior to gluing. When completed, each piece will get a coat of clear satin finish polyacrylic to mimic a waxed surface. The kit included a piece of 1/4" x 1/32" wood that had to be soaked in warm water and bent around a heavy cardboard form. This will be glued under the tabletop for a nice finished appearance.

  14. Recently we visited the Whitney Plantation in Wallace, Louisiana. There is a shingle-sided church on the property that caught my eye, plus extensive faux finish (marble) and decorative painting in the main house. I've posted a few photos in a new album in my Gallery.

  16. From the album: Whitney Plantation, Wallace, Louisiana

Most of the furnishings at the Whitney Plantation are not original. The owner, a New Orleans attorney named Cummings, has purchased and continues to purchase antiques appropriate to the time and place. I was struck by the graceful lines of what was a rather large piece of furniture. This was in the small business office on the ground floor of the main house. (Note the brick floor. The entire ground floor was made of brick -- floor and walls. The walls were plastered, inside and out. The upper floor and attic were made of termite resistant cedar.)

This chopping block table caught my attention for the thousands of cut marks. I got a small chill as I thought about the many hands that worked here to prepare meals for the Haydel family and their guests.

  20. Sooooo... my husband would give a resounding "YES!" to my question, but I wanted to check with the experts. Does anyone else purchase furniture and accessories for houses that aren't complete or out of the box yet? Some of my houses seem to start speaking to me as soon as they arrive at my home, and I know their entire story before I even begin construction. Of course, not all of them are so forthcoming - I have one that I bought off Craigslist fully assembled and it hasn't spoken to me since I got it home, and there is one that is still boxed up that I totally forgot about (maybe that's why it isn't talking to me right now??) Anyway, everything I've bought for the houses that ARE speaking to me is separated in bins and we are waiting on my shop to be finished out, but I looked at all these bins last night and started wondering if I had perhaps lost my mind somewhere along the way (and again, hubby thinks he has the answer to that question). So does anyone else do the same thing, or am I totally nuts?
  21. I was working on taking photos for some sanding and finishing guidance clinics on my business web site for my upcoming new furniture kits when I realized that I had never before photographed some of the classic House of Miniatures kits from the 1970's that I've built over the years. Here are some, along with a room box featuring a grand piano model I built from a Mini Mundus kit several years back. Merry Christmas to you all! - Chris
  22. I am a new member of your fine community, and I've recently designed and engineered several new miniature dollhouse furniture kits in 1:12 scale that I'll be releasing soon through my company Silver Ridge Modelworks. Attached are some photos of the finished prototypes. There's a writing desk which features real dovetail joinery on the drawers, a round table, and a wall cabinet. The kits will feature all the precut and laser-cut wood parts, and hardware, along with full assembly and finishing instructions. Many hours of fun for those who love to build miniatures. If there's some interest, I hope to produce many more designs. I've been modeling miniatures since I was 10 years old (for me that's quite some time ago). I've built many House of Miniatures kits as well as Shenandoah Miniature furniture kits, room boxes by Houseworks, and more. I also have many years of experience modeling HO scale model railroad structures by the big names in the business - Fine Scale Miniatures, South River Modelworks, and Sierra West Scale Models. After years of building other people's designs, I wanted to try my own hand at designing and producing my own kits. Hence my company Silver Ridge Modelworks. I'm glad to be a part of your community and hope to be an active contributor. Sincerely, Christopher Disdero Sole Proprietor Silver Ridge Modelworks
