  1. It has been a while since I have been here and it was brought to my attention through a couple of emails that maybe I should pop in and say hello. I was told "let people know that you are still alive!" LOL Pardon the novel, but if you read through it all I will just say thank you. So here is what has been happening to Greg over the past few months. Health Scare -- losing 40 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks is not good. This happened to me around Thanksgiving. My daughter convinced me to go to the doctor (usually I don't need convincing). We still have not figured out what it is, but we know a lot of what it isn't (not cancer, not HIV or any other auto immune disease, not a thyroid issue, etc.). It eventually leveled off after 52 pounds. However, I dropped another five pounds last week and since I had been out of town on business and not eating right, we are flagging it again. Weight Loss -- On the positive side, I am down to 215 pounds (from the 270 range) and am feeling pretty good. I haven't weighed that little since high school or junior high. Even at the lowest point during my chemotherapy treatments during my cancer I only got down to 217. I am going to try to properly lose about 20 more, then it is off to the cosmetic surgeon for the, umm, tummy tuck removal of the skin that won't bounce back. Mini Projects -- I have not worked on my hobby in over six months. With the health issue and battling that while traveling so much for my "real" job, I have just been too tired. Hopefully this summer I will get back to building. I have many UFO's (unfinished objects) that I would love to finish and show off to the forum. I hope to do that soon. Inked -- My 51st birthday was March 6 and my girlfriend bought us matching tattoos. My first ink! It is a forearm tattoo of the Chinese symbol for dream. I love it! I have also changed my hairstyle and grown some facial hair for the first time in over 20 years. Midlife crisis? Maybe......but no motorcycle or boat purchase yet...haha WOW!! -- Yes, I said my girlfriend (picture attached). I got a tattoo for my birthday...she got an engagement ring! She said yes! No date has been set as we each have some family things that we are clearing up. Her kids are 19 and 13, so they are younger than mine (27 and 23). They adore me and I think they are awesome! She is a part time model and former professional wrestler. She is only 5'2", but I watch myself as I don't need to be taken down in a figure four leg lock or pile driver. LMAO I will say that Michele came into my life at the right time. She is still not totally familiar with the miniature hobby or industry, but she is starting to learn. I will stop here as I feel it is a good spot. Hopefully I will see some of you in Chicago this weekend or at one of the other shows down the road. I will try to go back to being active in the forums again rather than lurking anonymously as I have been over the past few months. Remember -- work as "little" as you can!
  2. Hi All !! I have exciting news. I have reached a partnership agreement with JBM Miniature Furniture. I am now the JBM distributor for all of North America. All JBM orders, wholesale and retail, will now be shipped from Indiana. Invoicing will be improved, delivery time will be improved and available inventory will be improved. The inventory is in transit and it will be all setup and ready to go Memorial Day weekend. I have spent the past several weeks working on system improvements, advertising and online store setup. I have also committed to several shows, so you will now be able to purchase JBM Miniature Furniture (and my other items) in person at some of your favorite shows. These include: Dayton -- August 15-16 Aztec Wholesale Show -- August 22-24 Orlando Miniaturia (new show) -- September 4-6 Indianapolis -- September 18-19 (pending) Louisville -- October 24 Philadelphia Miniaturia -- November 6-8 Chicago Wee 'c' -- November 13-14 Chicago in 2016 others TBA Those of you that know me know that this is a huge change from my normal three shows per year plan. I am still working on my All About Miniatures website, but have had to put it on the back burner (again) as I am opening an Amazon store first. The Amazon store opening will be June 1. More news to follow as dates draw closer. I may be buying another miniature business next weekend as I dive deeper into this. Thank you to those who supported me as I mulled over this decision.
  3. For those of you within a couple of hours of Cincinnati -- they have a miniature show on April 11 & 12. I wasn't going to go as Chicago is the following weekend, but decided to get two tables and give it a shot. The link and flyer for the show are below. There should be around 25 dealers there (from what is listed on their website). Forum members get a deal at my tables (All About Miniatures) be sure to come say hello!! http://www.cincy-miniatures.org/

    From the album: Miscellaneous Minis

I don't usually post these things, but I lost my best buddy yesterday. I rescued Tucker back in September and thought I would have him for a long time. Unfortunately he had a very aggressive cancer and just couldn't beat it. Thank you to my wonderful daughter Rachel for a beautiful collage.
  5. After much prodding from a forum member, I have had my arm twisted a bit to post this. One of the intriguing mysteries in belonging to an online forum is wondering what people sound like. There is the curiosity of what forum members look like, but some of us have been bold enough to post pictures of ourselves here, so there is some mystery, but not a lot. I say all of that to say this -- Some of you may know that my other passion (miniatures being one) is broadcasting sports. I have jumped back in the booth this year as the play by play guy for a local high school on a station in Indianapolis. This is after being off the air for 10 years. If you want to get a kick, listen any Friday night. Pregame is 6:40EST and kickoff is at 7:00EST. You can stream it live on your computer, phone or tablet by going to: http://korncountry.com/ -- Click on the "Listen Live" tab. It is a lot of fun and I get a lot of enjoyment out of a one night a week gig. Mystery solved...lol Have a great weekend! ~Greg
  6. I have had a few PM's from forum members asking about my site. I haven't reactivated it yet as I am working on a couple of things. That being said, I still keep a lot of items in my eBay store. I also put updates on my AAM Facebook page. Be sure to "like" the FB page and subscribe to the eBay newsletter for the latest updates. Please see the links below. I also still have my "list" of miscellaneous kits and other items where I am keeping a look out for you. I have helped a few folks and will continue to do what I can. All About Miniatures Facebook page (be sure to "like" it) -- https://www.facebook.com/AllAboutMiniatures?ref=hl All About Miniatures eBay store (subscribe) -- http://stores.ebay.com/All-About-Miniatures?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 Also, be sure to come see me at the 3 Blind Mice Chicago show in April. I would love for us to get a group together again.
  7. Hi Gang! I thought I would drop a quick note to say I miss you all. A couple of forum friends sent me emails checking on me and I appreciate that. Things have been a little hectic and my own personal mini work is falling behind. I am going to share a little personal business for those who want to know. Others can skip this. Here is the condensed update: My miniature business is growing so fast I almost can't keep up. My website (www.allaboutminiatures.com) is down as I am changing shopping cart software and server hosts, so it is taking a little time. I am in negotiations with Amazon for an additional launch after the first of the year. I am in the process of buying out the inventory of two mini shops that have closed. The territory I cover for my regular job has just expanded to cover everything west of Indiana to the Pacific, some southern states, Hawaii, Alaska, some Pacific Islands and the western half of Canada. Time away shouldn't be more than now, but flights will be longer. I am heavily involved with NAME and they want me to be a regional coordinator as I have helped them with a couple of projects and they want to get more men and more young people involved. I am not young, but told them I would help. Needless to say, I am burying myself on purpose. In addition to the above, but totally unrelated to it, I am about to become single for the first time in over 27 years. When this happens, some people drink, some do drugs and smart ones busy themselves with minis. Oh, and I am keeping the dog I was fostering. He needs some help with his health, even with him only being 4-5 years old. Nobody wants a dog like that...except me (see pics). Some of you have given me items to watch for. I have found a few in my travels. I still carry this "hit list" with me everywhere I go, so I will always be on the lookout for those kits or other rare items. If I don't talk to you before then: Happy Holidays to all of you. All my best, Greg (Gonzo)
  8. From the album: Miscellaneous Minis

Not a bad first day. The number of dealers was down, but attendance on day one was up versus last year. It was good to see that five ladies from my mini club drove the two plus hours to attend (and shop). Three tables and still not enough room to display everything. You would think with 24 feet I could squeeze it all in...lol.
