The wheels that come with the kit are a joke in my opinion. Basically three wooden disks with a rectangular hole per side. You are supposed to glue two stacks of three disks together and the "axle" is a rectangular flat piece that the disks fit on to. When researching alternatives these wheels were mentioned by HavannaHolly and some others as perfect replacements. They look 1000 times better! -

When researching vintage TT's I came across pictures of Shasta interiors with their maple paneling. Since I didn't know any better I got more of the 1/64" veneer, made templates and cut out each piece and custom fitted it to the trailer. I then stained them maple with satin polyurethane. A ton of work but I think it will pay off in the end. -

Looking at front of trailer. The wood veneer included with the kit was broken so I went to a local hobby shop and got some 1/64" wood veneer used on RC aircraft. I didn't like how the instructions had you install the veneer so I ended up making and using extra studs to support the veneer and then modified them so the end result was the veneer was flush with the tops of the sides. I thought it gave it a much cleaner appearance. -

Last year I difficult as I dealt with breast cancer diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. I had lost myself for many years to illness but I am different now. I want to try to get back into what I liked to do. I am going to start with this little Tenny. I have to try to coax my muse out from under the floor boards so we can start to get some ideas. Hello everyone! I’m new here. My Greenleaf Beacon Hill kit finally came in today! I’m a bit nervous as this is my first dollhouse build. Can anyone share some tips on what helped you? I heard the instructions are kind of difficult and hard to understand. I’ve been watching the YouTube videos and I can’t find one that is like a step by step. I already know some of the changes I’m going to make or other builders suggestions that I’m going to use. I’ve got most of the starter supplies: the glues, the clamps, painters tape, the ultimate cutter from hobby lobby, stains and some mini screwdrivers and a mini jewelry mallet/hammer. Any help throughout this would be so much appreciated! As A paramedic I work odd shifts so I plan to work on this on days off. I’d also like to possibly make my own kitchen counters. I’m in love with the farmhouse sink and I would like to incorporate that. I also do plan to run electricity. Thank you all!

This is the clay work and stained glass windows of the Buttercup. So tomorrow, I have to finish the last little bit of the roof and the base/yard. Then, I can paint! I wasn’t able to work on this today because I had a lot of other things on my plate. I can’t wait to get back at it! Yes, I decided to do the thatch roof on this one. I’ve only done it to 2 other houses before. Some parts already has the 1st (and 2nd) coat of paint on it. Other parts have nothing which is why it looks white still.© Tracy Topps, MinisOnTheEdge

Those of you who know me, knows just how much I love houses! Dollhouses and real houses. On Facebook, I'm always posting pictures of real life versions of dollhouses that resemble a Greenleaf kit. It made me start to wonder and daydream. If you could Pick a Greenleaf dollhouse Kit to make in real life for yourself to live in, which would it be? I'm sure I'm a Glencroft type and found the perfect real life version (well, kinda similar)

TGIF! Im am so happy with the progress of my Glencroft! I started yesterday by gluing some of the remaining facade pieces. The upstairs gables were glued in and I was able to finally make my sub-walls out of foam board for the upstairs! (See pictures below). Once I finally had the front walls all tacked, I was able to start planning the Stone Portico/Porch that I will be adding to the front. I plan on making this out of 3/4 plywood to give the walls a heavy stone thickness but at first I wanted to make it out of foam board so I can get an idea how the finished product will look. Since the new porch addition covers most of the swooping roof line in the front, I was able to remove a small section on roof that comes through the living-room above the front door. Now, the room is nice and square. You can see in one of the pictures below. Last night I picked up a few finishing supplies (Stain, varnish and paint) so I can finally start doing some detailing. I want the wood throughout the house to be a really dark rick color so I plan on mixing a cherry, walnut and a hint of ebony stain to hopefully achieve this.

Hi I'm a Dolls House newbie- just recvd the Greenleaf Pierce (in kit form) from Wisconsin (I'm in Portsmouth England, UK)- so looking forward to building/decorating/furnishing etc etc etc- so any hints/tips/images welcome... I'm sort of thinking of American Colonial style? Trying to clear out my spare room of all my old crafting/jewellery making stuff, so that I can turn my desk around & clear some floor space to actually start building the Pierce! (at the moment, the box (huge!) is lying on the floor of our lounge...). There are so many talented miniaturists in the world, I would love to be able to recreate some of the unbelievably brilliant & realistic miniature stuff out there! Many thanks H -

I'm already looking for my next house. I know it will be at least two months before I am completely done with my Sugarplum dollhouse. My head is spinning. I like the Westville, and several other small size kits. But I'm also thinking about bashing two Orchids. For those who build many houses, what would you recommend for my wish list. i like an open concept plan with cathedral ceilings, fireplace, stairs, etc.....I also would like mostly one floor. I know this makes it a large footprint but that's why I was thinking of bashing two Orchids, or bashing another Sugarplum with and Orchid.

After much consideration, I realize I really don't have the time or the resources to do a good job on finishing the Beacon Hill I just acquired. I bought it sort of by "accident" - it was advertised first as a Garfield and I said I would take it. I was pretty obligated after that so I went and picked it up. Pictures are in my gallery - and I have a box with all the windows and trim etc that are needed to finish the house. It was "parked" in this condition in 1990; rumor has it the lady who was building it got sick, and then died. It is very well made and fully wired with tapewire. Haven't tested it yet to see if that still works after all this time. A few lights are already installed. PM me for the price, which is very reasonable! I will charge no more than what I paid for it. It will have to be pick-up only, in WA state. It's way too big to ship!
