So, after a year plus of a "quick build", it is finally finished. Since being furloughed because of Covid, I had the time to finish up the cottage. It was a fun build and I am proud of the way it turned out. My sister was visiting last week from Missouri, and when she saw it, she fell in love with it. She is not one for miniatures, but all she could do was stare at it and look at all the details. I knew then she had to bring it home with her. I really had no place for it. It was a labor of love, so who better to give it to!

From the album: Halloween Shop
This was a Halloween Shop I made using a small kit from miniatures.com that is no longer made. I made the bricks out of paperclay. Some of the items are scrapbook pieces, vintage charms, and printables I made from vintage images I found online. The green skull head is hand painted by me. The chair is from Michaels and is distressed using a rust paint. -
Hello everyone! It's been a VERY long time since I've had a dollhouse and have never built one, so this is new for me. I'm a home haunter (someone who LOVES Halloween and decorates to the extreme and builds their own decorations), so I got the Orchid kit to turn into a haunted house. I spend a lot of time building decorations for the outside of my home, so I tend to neglect the inside. Since it's really hot outside right now, my Halloween builds have come to a screeching halt, so this project will be a great thing to keep me in the Halloween spirit until the cool weather returns! I'm excited to get going. The only problems I foresee are: 1) I'm not good with directions - meaning, I don't usually read them. lol! and 2) I get excited with a project when I see it in my head and tend to rush to get it done. I'm hoping this project teaches me to slow down, take my time and have patience. I'm going to cruise around here and see everyone's work and hopefully learn some tips and tricks! Deb

It occurred to me this morning that many of us have made haunted houses and in honor of the day, it would be fun to take a look at them. Since they're scattered hither and yon, I though it would be nice to have a central index -- a road map, as it were -- to find them. If you have a haunted house, will you post a couple photos and a link to more photos in this thread? My haunted house is a Washington 2.0 by Greenleaf. Here's a photo of the front of the house and one of the skellies who inhabit the Haunted Hangout. See more on my blog, here. .

From the album: Country House - Renovated
Here they come. From left to right are Heather in her 1st-place Christmas tree costume, Amy the 60's flower child, Carrie the friendly ghost with pigtails, and Holly who is an interesting pile of leaves. If they should appear at your dollhouse or room box door today, don't be alarmed - they are only trick-or-treating. The girls are bringing their wagon to help carry all their candy home. They also threw in Holly's cat for good measure. -

Now that they figured each other out, these two are quickly becoming friends. -

Holly thinks she is talking to Carrie, who is dressed like a ghost, and this ghost thinks he is encountering a talking pile of leaves. -

It's a wonderful but sometimes scary world out there, so Grandma and Grandpa won't let the girls go trick-or-treating alone. Grandpa will take them, while Grandma will stay home and give out the candy. The girls wanted Grandpa to dress up, so last minute he marked his neck with red and black magic markers to make it look like he was bit by a vampire. Great Grandma and Grandpa are on the porch in rocking chairs watching the kids go by. They plan to scare the kids who mistake them as dummies. -

While Grandpa took the girls trick-or-treating, Grandma stayed home to give out her candy. She decided to get some fresh air and save the kids a trip up the porch steps. She has Hershey bars and lollipops for the kids.- 1 comment

Amy inspected the party goods before the guests arrived. Grandpa promised the girls he would tell some of his ghost stories to their friends, although Grandpa himself thinks that nothing is scarier than a house full of little girls chatting away all night. -

Grandma set out some party samples for the girls before their guests arrived. The pie was for Grandpa so he wouldn't dabble too much in the girls' party snacks. -

The girls and their guests had fun playing with the Ouija board at their Halloween party. The Ouija board told the girls to have a happy and safe Halloween. -

Amy is a real Beatles and John Lennon fan, so she dressed like a flower child from the sixties. Her peace sign was originally Grandma's, and she and Grandpa gave Amy the John & Yoko book she has tucked in her skirt. Her sign says, "Give Peace a Chance."
