Hello, If anyone in the Massachusetts or New England area has a Hofco Federal Victorian dollhouse for sale, please get in touch with me. I believe some of the Real Good Toys front-opening Federal style houses are very similar if not the same. So if you have a lead as to where I could find one, that would be great. I’m trying to find a plywood house as opposed to an MDF kit and I think the RGT might all be MDF. Thank you. Robin

Hi, all! I have built my own kid-friendly dollhouses in the past out of old wood. I finally decided to graduate to my first kit. I recently bought a Hofco Federal Victorian House Kit for $150. It included bedroom furniture, bathroom furniture, Christmas decorations, a complete lighting kit, etc. The kit itself is complete and in great shape - which is impressive for its age. When I opened the kit, I was so impressed by its details. The doors, the windows, everything. There was a marble fireplace buried deep in the box. Clearly, this is way too nice for me. I needed something I wouldn’t feel bad messing up! So here we are. I was wondering what advice you would give a first timer who is way in over their head. I plan on building this with my mother and she already insists we throw out the instructions. And lastly, Victorian era decor or modern decor?

Hi, I'm an old codger with a mini problem. I've inherited - rather my granddaughter has inherited for me to assemble - a Hofco Americana 242 in mostly box state. However, there are no assembly instructions. Does anyone know where they or a good copy exists that could be made available to me? First time builder, and not sure where all the parts go, nor really the best process to follow to assemble. Thanks for any help. Carl

After working on it off and on for two years, including a move from NYC to Florida, illness, a family death et al, it is basically complete! Have put it up for sale but if it doesn't sell right away I think I will rework the 2nd floor porch railings with the Real Good Toys porch railings or something along those lines. I find the uploading process here frustrating, so if you don't mind heading over to my blog, here's the link. Would love to know what you think! I visioned it as a Key West house, music-oriented, and wanted to have the color come from the furniture and artwork so have intentionally left the walls white. Flooring is all removable template. This rare dollhouse which I have painted and decorated is my pride and joy. I purchased it as an unpainted shell from the original owner in NJ about 2 years ago. As you all know, Hofco made very high-end dollhouses in the 1980s which are very sought-after now (you can search for Hofco dollhouses on Ebay to see the kind of prices they fetch - a google search turns up an auction one year ago for the same make/model that went for over $2000). Made of cabinet-grade wood, this is a sturdy house but with delicate features. The 2-story porch is one of the widest dollhouse porches in the business. All of the windows are Hofco windows, and all of the doors with the exception of the swinging door to the kitchen which is a houseworks door. All furniture is included, and I will throw in the Ikea rolling cart base free of charge. Must pick up - Miami Beach Normandy Isle, Florida location - elevator building. Created in a smoke-free apartment. You will need at least two people to get it to your vehicle, and note dimensions: approximately 4 ft x 3 ft x 2 ft (dollhouse). Rolling cart is 58" long x 35" high x 15'" wide.Ground floor: 3 rooms: Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen 1st Floor: 3 bedrooms and hallway with French doors that leads out to porch. Top Floor: 2 rooms. I've painted the interior white, and left it that way for future owners to decorate as they wish. The floors are templates that are removable in case you'd like different flooring or want to electrify the dollhouse. Will include touch-up paint. The search is over, my stash is complete, I think I won an auction on eBay for a Hofco Victorian Farmhouse kit new in the box, I am so excited!! I've been checking all afternoon to see if they accepted my offer and they countered and I bought it!!!! I recently got a family of Cacao dolls with metal hands and feet and they have claimed it already, they have good taste. I can't wait to get it and see how it wants to be decorated, so happy! -
Hello all, I have a Hofco Southern Dynasty KW182R dollhouse kit. The house itself is put together and all the accessories are with it, including paperwork and deed. I am having trouble finding this particular dollhouse to find its value or perhaps a path to sell it. What I have found, it appears to be rare. I know there are enthusiasts out there that would appreciate the build, project and value of this house. I am looking for anyone who may know about this house or can give suggestions to find a proper place for it. Much appreciate for any information!

Hi... new member here.. I'm from Maryland, and live not too far from the hometown of HOFCO Dollhouse company. I came across this group and joined because I came across a HOFCO Victorian Classic (KW214), with the add-on room. It is about 90% completed. I have several totes of building supplies (shingles, wallpaper, electrical items), which I believe is enough to complete the house, and a small amount of furniture. I am not really interested in finishing the dollhouse and interested in selling it. I have done some searching online as far as value, and even found an identical house that is completed and furnished , and being raffled off. The topiaries had brown bases when they arrived which didn't match very well. I reps intend them black then added some white for a distressed look. I love that the bases are square, they seem to match the lines of the house.- 1 comment

Painted the porch floors grey today (thanks for the ideas havanaholly) and put a third coat of black paint on the shutters. I realize things don't appear to be straight but everything is just resting temporarily, windows doors and shutters are not permanently affixed yet. -

Still need to add the extra moulding around the French doors. But, this sure looks a lot better than a few weeks ago. Painting the shutters black now. Also need to add "glass" into windows and door along with brass door handles.- 3 comments

Using the suggestion of a friend and fellow enthusiast, I used a hair dryer and some gentle prying to deprecate the pieces of the old frame. Going to glue the to the new frame to have almost an exact replica and more accurate version of the original.-

My new French door arrived yesterday. While I was happy to get it I was more than a little disappointed in the lack of moulding on the frame compared to the one I have to replace. See the next image to view my remedy for this. -
