Making things out of paper is my favorite thing to do. I use the old outdated Microsoft Paint to create the graphics and XnView for printing them out. I replicated the box for my Mc Kinley dollhouse kit down to the last detail, shown in the top picture. The other boxes came from my imagination. All the boxes come with instructions and wooden pieces as shown in the lower picture. -

Hi all, I just picked up the cutest travel trailer kit on eBay. It's called the 1950s style travel trailer kit by Little Habitats. It looks seriously adorable from the black and white instruction booklet but doing a quick google search I've been unable to find out anything about this kit or company. So I'm reaching out to the wealth of knowledge on this site to inform me on what I have Has anyone built one of these? Do you know if they made other kits? Or other minis? Any info is appreciated. -
The Lily minature dollhouse all original pieces plus extras. The dollhouse is partially worked with the main structure firm in place, but she still needs a lot of love to finally make her the grand lady she is.

I picked up a dollhouse trunk kit from an estate sale and thought it would be the perfect accessory for my most recent house building project. However, while all of the pieces/components were there, the kit was missing the critical instructions. I thought it would be a cinch since, after all, it was only a basic trunk, but when I poured out the contents there seemed to be a few more pieces than what was represented in the only drawing that was included. First off, just based on the picture (there was no manufacturer information included) can anyone identify this kit? Secondly, I am pretty since the inside is intended to be papered, that this is a fully functioning, hinged, trunk and that the additional pieces are a part of that mechanism, but I am unsure of how to proceed. Can anyone advise based on the picture? I will do my best to describe the pieces: The kit came with: Wooden pieces to assemble top and bottom of trunk (done) Brass findings for the top and sides of trunk (done) Brass latch for the front of trunk (done)--all placed based on picture The parts I am uncertain of: 4 brass half circles--I am assuming that these represent the back hinges, but am not sure if they belong visible on the back or on the inside back of the trunk when open 2 small brass medallions (they are cupped as seen in second picture). Each of the medallions has a small hole on one end 2 small brass wires that came pre-bent--I experimented with these and they pass easily through the hole in the medallions without going all the way through 2 small brass hoops that slightly thin at the joint 1, approx 1.5" brass wire 1 piece yellow satin ribbon

I think I finally figured out how to put photos on. The first pic, with the stained siding and red shutters is how the dollhouse came to me. It is a kit from the 1980s that my father-in-law bought because his wife always wanted one and needed a project. Unfortunately she was ill and couldn't really work on it, but he did the build, siding, roofing, chimney and the staining. It's been in his basement ever since. He asked us to take a bunch of stuff from his house - clearing out so he can move to Florida, possibly - and was happy when I agreed to take the dollhouse. My mom also did a kit house from the 80s, and made it a Victorian paradise...except for her big fat cat who liked to chew tiny furniture and sit her big behind in the parlor. I honestly don't know what became of my mom's after she passed. I'll have to ask my siblings. I was living in another country back then so I don't know where anything went. But I feel like I'm continuing a project from my own family and my husband's family. Pic 2 is the first coat of blue I put on because I really hate stained siding. My version of this Colonial will be modern - something I'd want to live in - not period-correct like my in-laws were planning. The shutters are gone and I will be buying some louvered ones which will be black. The front door was broken so I bought another and it's glossy black paint is drying right now. Oh and I've since staged a miniature hurricane that ripped all the cedar shingles off the roof. I want asphalt. Luckily most of them came off without breakage so they'll be saved for something else. The 3rd pic is of the really filthy windows. Decades of being in the basement and being exposed to cigarette smoke left the windows orangey brown and it didn't come off with multiple tries at cleaning. I managed to get the "glass" out by only sacrificing a little wood trim (woot!) and will cut new mylar. Please note that I have my own big fat cat that is showing more interest in this project than I'd like. That's Esmé you can see through the window closeup. She's the deaf, problem cat. (I have two cats. The other hasn't shown any interest.) Does anyone recognize the kit?

I have a Real Scale Home Kit 1960 as pictured in a post by one of your members. Was something a friend of my Father-In-Law had and it looks to be pretty intact, as nothing looks like it was built with the kit. Suspect he was going to use it to design a house back in the day before CAD or design software. I have been holding onto it for years and am looking to sell it. (only reason I joined this site was the search query brought up the product on this site) If you are interested send me a message or email. I have digital pics I can send. This is the clay work and stained glass windows of the Buttercup. So tomorrow, I have to finish the last little bit of the roof and the base/yard. Then, I can paint! I wasn’t able to work on this today because I had a lot of other things on my plate. I can’t wait to get back at it! Yes, I decided to do the thatch roof on this one. I’ve only done it to 2 other houses before. Some parts already has the 1st (and 2nd) coat of paint on it. Other parts have nothing which is why it looks white still.© Tracy Topps, MinisOnTheEdge

Hi, My name is Erica and I recently ordered the Greenleaf Willow kit (due to arrive tomorrow), as well as purchased a partially complete Greenleaf Garfield (which is HUGE!!!!). The Garfield has quite a bit of damage and work that needs to be done so it is more of a restoration/build. Super excited to join this group and build my dollhouses. I'm 32 years old and have never had one for myself, and I have two boys so I figured I better make one for me since I probably won't have a daughter. I live in San Diego, CA. I have two boys age 10 and 7... and a small boston terrier named Roxy.

So, I won an online auction for wallpaper AND two kits came with the bid as a "bonus". Since I am so new to houses/kits/miniatures, can anyone tell me what I bought? I have one photo and no other info. I won't get them until this weekend, but I'm really curious.

From the album: The Pierce Garage Sale Find and Kit Instructions
These instructions are old and basically falling apart. The instructions come on one sheet of paper that is 20"x18" and printed on both sides, so in order to be able to scan it I had to divide the sheet into 4 seperate parts. After scanning I used Microsoft Paint to put the pages back together again. In order to reduce the size of the file I had to resize the picture to 15"x10". What I mean to say is that you need to download both pictures onto your computer in order to view them correctly, cuz in here they look to small to be readable.- 2 comments

Hi everyone! I'm back. I'm not sure if this is the right place, or if this post is appropriate. But I am SO excited about this I can't stand it and wanted to spread the word. I had the idea of making a website where dollhouses could be made as paper models (furnished and everything), and I'm also including some printable miniatures for regular builders. All of the items are in "digital kit form" and available for instant download. Anyway, my latest creation is a huge set of printable publications. I've worked out the bugs on how to do ACCURATE double sided printing via a simplification in calibration that works for any printer, and I digitally remastered a bunch of public domain publications. This kit includes 2 books, 4 magazines, 6 comic books, 9 antique maps, 1 atlas, and 4 newspapers). Once constructed, they are able to be read under a magnifying glass, and I include very simple and thorough instructions. I would love it if anyone interested would go and take a look at the site, and tell me what you think. I'm working on assembling this cuckoo clock kit I got from M&E Miniatures on Etsy. The detail is awesome and the clock is a laser cut kit made from cherry wood. I've used a couple of different stains on it to get different effects and not obscure the details while trying to get as close to the coloring of a cuckoo clock my dad had. I'm assembling it a little differently than how the instructions tell you to do it, but they are only guidelines, right? April sent me some beautiful tiny pine cones to use in place of the weights that came with this clock, but I haven't been able to get them to work and already destroyed one messing with it. I decided to assemble it with the weights it came with for now while I experiment with the remaining cones. This clock will hang in the White Orchid© DAL Minis

Hello, Forum! I am a new miniaturist, and bought a Realife Miniatures Heritage Series Wooden Bathroom Kit (#197) on eBay. Unfortunately, it has no instruction booklet. Does anyone have this kit's instructions they might be willing to share? I would, of course, be happy to pay for a copy of them. Thanks for looking. I'm a bit lost without the directions! Kate
