WIPs. This is a Michael's hutch. The top half will become kitchen cabinets. I am painting the interior white and will do the outside in "golden oak" to match the rest of the kitchen. The bottom half is an experiment in making a custom cabinet surround for a 'vintage' pedestal sink. It needs a little more shaping and sanding and will be painted white. -

I decided to have another try at the Farm Sink. I used cut Balsa wood, Gesso, Acrylic Paint, and last I'll use the dura Clear Gloss Varnish (which I haven't done the varnish yet). I am so thrilled with the way the sink came out and especially the faucet. I made the faucet from polymer clay, wire, wood dowels, and toothpicks that I have painted a metallic bronze. I just love it. I decided to repaint the hardware on the cabinets to match the faucet. I hope my sink comes out as shiny as one of the links that were posted for me. if anyone wants more detailed instructions, please feel free to ask. thanks for all of the help this community has offered.- 3 comments

this is the beginning of a kitchenette I am making for my dollhouse. I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm winging it. As far as scale.....I'm winging that too. The first floor on the sugarplum house is only 6", so I kind of feel that standard 1:12 furnishings are too large. I'm going to scale down all furnishings so I can make it comfy. I want to extend out a little bar to make two chairs but I'll see how that goes. now for all you professional miniaturist a, remember, I have never done this before. for all newbies, I did this with an sac to knife, ruler, and a packet of Balsa wood in different sizes, purchased at Hobby Lobby, $12.99 with 40% off coupon. I think I am going to do the cabinets in a distressed olive green with a dark wash on crevices.- 3 comments

From the album: Travel Trailer
This is the first "scratch" piece of furniture that I have ever built. It is a refrigerator, sink, and cabinets for my travel trailer. The doors/drawers don't open, but the drawer knobs and refrigerator handle are made from junk jewelry. The sink basin is a jelly container, and the faucets and spigot are from an odd earring. It is made from thin plywood.- 4 comments

Hi this is my first time building a dollhouse. I saw online that someone chose to not use the kitchen door on the Fairfield model. I want to seal that doorway up and make it a wall as well. What glue or adhesive should I use that won't show up under a coat of paint? Or is my only option to wall paper and use clapboards?

Here's another view of the kitchen with the window and trim added. I like this one because you can see the buttery cream vanilla colored ceiling! I haven't added chair rail to the left side because I still have to hang my upper cabinets. And I need something (tile maybe?) to fit between the countertop and the bottom of the cabinets to cover the bit of wall that is still messed up from the door that I bashed in the wrong wall. I also have to add my stove top and oven door in. Painting "The Kitchen Collection" pieces is proving to be tricky as they are metal and I have zero experience with them. The drawer under the sink is just for show, but the cabinet door is openable (sp?) once I stop fighting with the hinges and figure out how to position them. And my lovely colander from LorisLittleThings on etsy adds a bit more yellow -

An updated view of the farmhouse kitchen where the girls were visiting. I love the sink, and stove is like the one used in the Waltons TV series. -

Here is my kitchen, which leads to the dining room on the right and side porch on the left. The stove came from my grandmother's house, and I used to play with it as a child. I believe it is a Queen Anne stove, although it says "Princess" on the oven door. The wall cabinet with the potholders fell off the wall one time too many, and I didn't care to keep rewaxing it for fear of damaging the wallpaper. So I replaced it with a high shelf cabinet and moved the bread bin behind the staircase. -

The kitchen, with light fixture and floor tile installed, still needs wallpaper. Sink and cabinets handmade by my mom, refrigerator isn't finished. She's also going to make a little stove and wall cabinets. I'm going to try to make a little dish drain board from match sticks and/or toothpicks next time I go visit, we'll see how it turns out. -
