  1. So, half-scale furniture. What's out there for purchase is getting limited as manufacturers close down or discontinue production. What I see for sale is overly ornate, not the style I want, or too niche. I could be wrong, but I think most of us are building houses, not shops or dentist offices. Some of you have the skill to make your own furniture. I built a passable corner cabinet, but my crafting skills aren't that great and I have very limited tools. That brings me to kits. I've made a few by Cassidy Creations that have come out great, but too often those kits have missing pieces, pieces the wrong size, and confusing/wrong instructions. There are some great sellers on Etsy making laser-cut kits. Those I've made successfully were from RedCottageMiniatures, SDKMiniatures, MelissasMiniWereld, and HalfScaleMiniatures. I'm curious to know whose kits have others had success with. Do you have a favorite designer/seller? What do you like best about the kits?
  2. Hello Miniature Lovers! Does anyone want to take a road trip? We are cleaning out Grandma's collection and have quite a list of dollhouse kits, unfinished houses, supplies and furniture to sale. We would LOVE to sell the whole lot as a pickup. Wouldn't know the first thing about shipping this stuff or know nothing of ebay. We are located in Hutchinson, KS, so we are almost smack dab in the middle of the country. We do believe all kits are complete. Some boxes are pretty worn. A couple of the incomplete builds are as is (the two we couldn't identify). List and pics: Kits: Bellingham Farm House, Alexandra, Newberg, Granville, Duracraft Farmhouse Incomplete builds: Mint Julip, Victorian Cottage Jr that needs a little work, two unknown, San Fran bash and a cute little greenleaf We know a ballpark figure we'd like, so please....make an offer! Oh, and don't worry....Grandma is fine....just downsizing and off to the next hobby! Please see below link for photos....... https://imgur.com/a/knJ8k1B
  3. I have two partial kits-Fairfield and McKinley-free. I also have a Garfield that has been started. Whoever started it has done a beautiful job so far.all the punched out parts are bagged and labeled. Not really shippable, but willing to meet people part way (located between Santa Fe and Albuquerque). Want a totally reasonable amount. Mostly want it to move on. Contact me for pictures,as I don't seem to upload pics.
  4. I have just completed a Beacon Hill (more or less). I wondered if anyone would like my box of scraps? Most of the sheets are intact (with the pieces punched out, of course). I never used the shutters, so all those pieces are there. I am willing to send the box and all the scrapwood to anyone who wants it. Jennifer Ashley

  8. Hi everyone, I'm looking to purchase the 40051 Cupboard Top Kit. I've been scouting eBay for some time and nothing. Does anyone have one which they are willing to part with? Thanks
  9. Those of you who know me, knows just how much I love houses! Dollhouses and real houses. On Facebook, I'm always posting pictures of real life versions of dollhouses that resemble a Greenleaf kit. It made me start to wonder and daydream. If you could Pick a Greenleaf dollhouse Kit to make in real life for yourself to live in, which would it be? I'm sure I'm a Glencroft type and found the perfect real life version (well, kinda similar)
  10. I have been wanting one of these kits since I was a kid. I have already built a Victorian mansion. can someone help me find a kit?
  11. From the album: My Latest Mini Finds

Another day of playing "American Pickers," dollhouse style. I went to my favorite hidden "honey hole" and bundled. More great finds at an awesome bargain. She still wouldn't sell me the two kits that I want for ME ("The Old Granville House" from It's a Wonderful Life and "The Stratford Inn" from The Bob Newhart Show). However, I think I am wearing her down. I will finish the hotel and at least one or two of the stores.

  12. I am a new member of your fine community, and I've recently designed and engineered several new miniature dollhouse furniture kits in 1:12 scale that I'll be releasing soon through my company Silver Ridge Modelworks. Here are some photos of the finished prototypes. There's a writing desk which features real dovetail joinery on the drawers, a round table, and a wall cabinet. The kits will feature all the precut and laser-cut wood parts along with full assembly and finishing instructions. Many hours of fun for those who love to build miniatures. Tell me what you think. If there's some interest, I hope to produce many more designs. Thanks! Sincerely, Christopher Disdero Sole Proprietor Silver Ridge Modelworks
  13. I was working on taking photos for some sanding and finishing guidance clinics on my business web site for my upcoming new furniture kits when I realized that I had never before photographed some of the classic House of Miniatures kits from the 1970's that I've built over the years. Here are some, along with a room box featuring a grand piano model I built from a Mini Mundus kit several years back. Merry Christmas to you all! - Chris
  14. I am a new member of your fine community, and I've recently designed and engineered several new miniature dollhouse furniture kits in 1:12 scale that I'll be releasing soon through my company Silver Ridge Modelworks. Attached are some photos of the finished prototypes. There's a writing desk which features real dovetail joinery on the drawers, a round table, and a wall cabinet. The kits will feature all the precut and laser-cut wood parts, and hardware, along with full assembly and finishing instructions. Many hours of fun for those who love to build miniatures. If there's some interest, I hope to produce many more designs. I've been modeling miniatures since I was 10 years old (for me that's quite some time ago). I've built many House of Miniatures kits as well as Shenandoah Miniature furniture kits, room boxes by Houseworks, and more. I also have many years of experience modeling HO scale model railroad structures by the big names in the business - Fine Scale Miniatures, South River Modelworks, and Sierra West Scale Models. After years of building other people's designs, I wanted to try my own hand at designing and producing my own kits. Hence my company Silver Ridge Modelworks. I'm glad to be a part of your community and hope to be an active contributor. Sincerely, Christopher Disdero Sole Proprietor Silver Ridge Modelworks
  15. For sale or trade - new in the box Artply Franklin kit and a RGT 1/2 scale lighthouse keeper's house kit, pm for more information, thanks.
  16. Hi everyone, This is my first posting to the Community Trading Post. To introduce myself, my name is Ann and I am a paper engineer specializing in pre-printed kits for dolls and dollhouses. In order to introduce my line, I am offering a series of downloadable projects for a Victorian desk set (can double as fancy contemporary). These are free and I encourage you to share with your friends and on-line groups. The first project, The To Do List Notepad, is found in the top item on my website home page http://www.PaperMinis.com (file is more than 500kb). Just download it or open it and print. Of course the printout will only be as good as your print quality and not nearly as good as a Paper Minis pre-printed kit, but it will give you wonderful practice for the paper craft hobby. I will be adding a different desk item every couple of weeks so look here again. BTW, each is offered in 5 different scales, and as you can see from the photo I don't make the 1:24 and 1:48 because I can't see them! If you need to contact me, please send a PM. I hope you enjoy this wonderful pastime. Ann
  17. Does anyone know of a source for 1:12 scale ships, of the type so many of our ancestors came over on at the turn of the 20th century? Thanks, Helaine

    Savonarola chair

From the album: A Few Other Things

I got this half scale lasercut Savonarola chair kit from SDK Miniatures. It's exquisitely detailed and comes with a separate gluing jig that must be assembled first. This is a *new* product on their website and I fell in love with it for my half scale lighthouse, which is next up on my construction calendar. It is pricy and more than I usually will pay for a furniture kit, but it is exactly what I envision for the lighthouse.
  19. I found several House of Miniatures Kit lots on a website. If I buy a lot/multiple lots, does anyone want to buy the items that I do not want? Or if anyone buys that lots, I am interested in the items listed below. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=13692209 I want the bed and tavern table. http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?itemid=13692392 The small side table( hepplewhite serpentine table) http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?itemid=13691992 The corner chair, mirror and lowboy.
  20. Okay, so like many of us I have a lot of DH kits. I need to unload some in order to keep my sanity. I thought I would give forum members first crack before I throw them on eBay. A few items to know: PM's do not work. My Yahoo email address is in my profile. I am out of town on a business trip, so I may be a little slow to respond. Kits will go on a first spoken for, first go basis. Shipping will be parcel post from the Indianapolis area. We can work out the details later. I did not post pics. If you search hard enough you will find pictures of these DH's and kits. All are in the box and as far as I know are complete. I will update this posting as kits are sold. The list: Greenleaf Fairfield Greenleaf Buttercup Greenleaf Orchid (2) (one box has been opened / one is still sealed) Dura Craft Old Towne (this is the HO scale kit) Dura Craft San Franciscan (SF-550) Dura Craft Newberg (2) Dura Craft Cambridge Artply Tennyson Artply Whitney RGT Country Farmhouse (1/2 scale) RGT Vermont Farmhouse Junior RGT Georgetown (Walmer box) Thanks!!
