  1. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

This is a dry run of the placement. I will have a better idea once I get Seymour in there. I think I need to turn the Audrey II slightly to give a good view of the head.

  2. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

A view from above. I love that this shop has a glass window in the top.

    LSOH New Back Wall

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Now that the repairs are done, here is how it ended up. I still need to dirty the door up a bit with some ashes. It shows brighter in the picture than in RL. The paper is something I found in one of my CL finds. It is "naturally" aged.

    LSOH New Rear

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Here is how I replaced the back wall. I decided not to brick. It is heavy now and I am concerned that the structure may not support more weight. This will be on a base, so I will add a step and a couple of trash cans. I may add a nonworking light over the door.

    LSOH New Paper

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Here is an interior shot of the doorway repair. I found some really old Millie August wallpaper called "Wild Strawberry." It had yellowed a bit, making it perfect for the setting. I am going to let it dry overnight before cutting the door opening through the paper. I also stained some crown molding that I will add to help set it off.

    LSOH Side Bricked

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

I "bricked" the sides as there was nothing I could do with the plywood. I am going to add some black wash running down the sides to age it a bit. The "bricks" are actually a floor tile that I picked up at Home Depot. I still had to glue a lot of individual bricks, but these worked out nice and saved me a ton of time. Unfortunately they weigh a ton and I need to be careful moving this thing around. The tile was a grey color. I ended up covering it with Rust-Oleum American Accents Colonial Red I bought from a store that was going out of business. It took three coats and I burned through about six small chip brushes (the cheap disposable ones).

  8. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

She is complete and on her way to me. Now I have to get hopping on the shop. The floor goes in today. I have to wait to cut the door and window until after I arrange the plant. It is 9" tall and I am not sure how wide. I will have to wait and see. I also need to find a 5" to 5.5" doll to pass as Seymour (Rick Moranis). Send me any suggestions. I have been searching and haven't found a passable one. It doesn't have to be perfect, but dark hair and glasses are necessary.
  9. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

She is almost done. I hope the Shop does her justice.

    Shop Lights

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

I found these lights at one of my distributors. I just got lucky that they are already green. I am going to add two to the front and one over the back door.

    LSOH New Front

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Here is an updated shot of the storefront. I still need to do a little cleanup, add the window decals, lights and sidewalk. For comparison, the link to the original storefront is HERE. It is finally coming together.

  12. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

This was the inspiration for the start of this project. I commissioned the plant to be lighter colors so it stands out in the Shop. The plant will be 9" tall and I am looking for a doll to pass as Seymour in the 5" to 5.5" range.
  13. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Anna sent me a picture tonight of her day one progress on the Audrey II. It already looks creepy. I can't wait to get it. It will be the only brightly painted object in the shop, so it will really stand out. She does great work and wants to do more 1:12 scale. She recently created a Nosferatu in a coffin and a couple of other pieces in 1:12. http://www.etsy.com/people/BlueMaiya
  14. From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

(Yes I know it is upside down. I am still waiting for the glue to dry.) The ceiling and roof are a bit challenging due to the viewing window. I trimmed the ceiling pieces and installed them. I will probably try another round of Gesso and wiping to help hide the seams in the corners. The box is more than 17" wide, so I couldn't go one piece straight across. So far I like the way it looks.

    Tin Ceiling

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors

Sooo...I was cutting the tin ceiling pieces when it dawned on me: the shop is kind of dreary and the ceiling is BRIGHT white. I thought for a while and came up with a solution. I took gray Gesso and painted a thin coat on the plastic. I then took a dry paper towel and wiped most of it off. It is almost a dry brush method, but it worked to take the shine off.
