I bought this Frank Cresente fireplace in 2012, though it went well here in the French Chateau. -

I always wanted a Faux iron staircase for the chateau, and now I am thinking about it again, I made these railings for another house and decided to try something similar here. wish me luck! -

Worked on getting all the corbels in place that hold up the over door casings. only 2 left to finish in the upstairs hallway, starting to put my staircase railings back in place, ordered wallpaper for the upstairs hallway. And starting to think about a different stair case. -

French Chateau Interiors with J Getzan Chandelier
Debora59 posted a gallery image in Members' Gallery
From the album: Designing my own house
I am touching up the Chateau, my door moldings all need repainted, some of the corbels are missing like this room, but I found them. They were never permanently attached I had a tendency of using museum wax to test things out. I have been working on the downstairs and exterior, but also getting the lighting hooked up again, even ordered another J Getzan Chandelier!- 5 comments

Today I will try to work on hedges and cover them with foliage. I REALLY want to get a shot from the inside looking out, it means setting up a backdrop at the far end of the of the reflection pool, -

It will need paint and mouldings and some type if thin bracing for the chandelier to be centered -

I have made molds and castings since I will need 8 sets. I also cut the brackets down and notched them to fit, since the pic here, I sanded the inside of each bracket to fit snug against the rest. -

Yesterday was my first attempt at figuring out a pattern with a border. The border will continue into each room where I will change up the colors and patterns, I have tried a few patterns in the foyer, like a diamond outline in the center but didnt like it with the darker tiles that I used, will keep playing until I get it right. As you can see I am testing two different designs on each side, I favor the left, but it would still have the border on the edge. -

Finally purchased a proper rolling table for my scratch built French Chateau, now I can roll it out anytime and work on it! It was perched on stone pillars with a glass top, all these years, so if I wanted to work with it we had to transfer the entire thing to the dinning room table. Now maybe I will finish it! -

Christmas present is hung in place, I have had my eye on this one for a very long time, it fits nicely in the 2nd story bedroom , ceilings are higher and this is almost 3 inches with out the chain, I have a mirror to mount above the fire place and it captures the reflection of these lights perfectly from the opposite end of the house, -

This is the effect I want to create in this house for a french kitchen & I am tempted to try it on a Wardrobe I will post next -

I FINALLY wallpapered the kitchen behind the stairs, I opened up the Chateau to dust and was really motivated since I had bought this hood range several weeks back, I had other paper in mind but this was so cheery -

I was trying to fix some badly bubbled wallpaper in the hallway on the matching back wall and realized I DID NOT have more of the hallway paper or at least very very little! So I finished stripping it and decided to build wainscotting and take the mural all the way around this hallway. -

The flooring is something to satisfy me for now, nothing else has, it has a few flaws and thats really the only thing I dont like about it, The corbels on the door casing are uneven but they are only held in place by wax, Got to get those finished. -

Here is another shot of the flooriing patterns, I have lots of art work I need to hang [ especially on that big empty wall, usually its an issue of finding the right frame -

I ran out of the orange damask here so I picked a color that matched the fireplace as an option, I late got rid of the scrolling and then I tried one more paper that I like a little better -

I was very inspired by a site I stumbled upon featuring a doll house called Merriman Park, So I got busy today making bump outs for the fireplaces in the Chateau, they add interest to the room and in some rooms, I didnt have enough of the original wall paper so I dug around and found complimentary papers that also add interest. Just getting started so this is not the finished fireplace wall.
